Operation "Jovial" - RCMP seize another residence, Moncton, N.B.

On September 14, 2006, the RCMP Integrated Proceeds of Crime Section, based in Moncton, N.B., acting in concert with the Attorney General of New Brunswick, has obtained a Court Order restraining a residence at 126 Portledge Avenue, in Moncton.

The occupants of the residence will continue to reside in the dwelling however certain conditions apply and must be met by the registered owner. A Restraint Order is issued by the Courts following an application by the Attorney General and is used to protect the asset pending investigation into proceeds of crime and money laundering.

This is the latest development in an investigation called ???Operation Jovial??? which led to the arrests of several individuals last July 11th, 2006. Twenty-five stolen vehicles were recovered and numerous charges under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act were laid by the RCMP Moncton Joint Forces Drug Section. Other investigations into the stolen vehicles, and fraud, are being carried out by the Moncton Codiac Regional RCMP and the Commercial Crime Section in Fredericton.

Seized and or restrained on July 11th, by the Proceeds of Crime Section, were 1 residence, a vacant property, 6 other vehicles and approximately $100,000 in cash. The investigation by the Proceeds of Crime Section continues
