Am I the only one that gets awakend at 3:30 as the gigantic jet engines of the Fedex planes roars over moncton or how about at 4:00 when the Purolator plane leaves..or which ever one it is! They should do what Toronto does and close the skies after midnight...it wakes me up and my kids! PHOOEY PHOEEY on Fedex.Purolator.
Do you have any idea how many jobs those planes sustain?
when my Dad proudly displayed his window stickers for "thrush" mufflers
as if ppl couldn't tell without seeing the stickers, LOL
h) Ban sirens on emergency vehicles at night too. I've lived in Moncton. I know the sound of an ambulance in the middle of the night. It woke my baby. We learned to cope.
I have to say, we're quite lucky for this one. We live on the same street as the fire station. After abround 10pm they actually wait until they're past the heavy residential section to turn the siren on. They only run the lights. I love this place...hehe
OMG! Courtesy in Dieppe!
That's it, WWJD. The world is truly coming to an end.

They used to like stopping me. I've always had loud exhausts. Even my old moped was loud. My mountain bike has a very good exhaust system on it. (Too bad I don't.)
Too bad it's not FED EX and UPS. That would really make a person FED UP. It doesn't bother me, but like I said before, I can sleep in a bowling alley.

Wouldn't you get hit by someone's balls?

What about people who work night shift and try to sleep in the day. All planes should be grounded in the day while they sleep too. Also no lawnmowers. Just thying to get some controversy going here. It's too quiet with Bulert in school. Oops, I guess it's 5:00 pm. I think I'll go hide.
Naw........ I'll tell you what pisses me off the very most, is how they think to seem that the "so called tincans" on the cars , are too loud and there for must be banned ! BUT....the choppers racing down the street rattling the glasses off your shelves, baaaaaaaaah nooooo those aren't loud at all ! No reason valid enough to ban those now common....their quiote motorbikes with $1500 freakin' ROCKET MUFFLERS !!! But let's ban the car ones that need to be at least 1/4 km away to be heard, because the 25mile away motorbike that you hear, is just not valid enough for us to put a ban on them !
JD
Once upon a time ,there was a man and his family constently getting awaken by the courrier airliners flighing above their house. One day ,the little boy got angry and stood out the window and yeld at the plane !His father then rushed in and asked, "what's the matter boy"? The boy then replied, that darn airplane daddy! It's pissing me off !!! Shut-up boy ! Said the man with a "Homer like voice" . If it wasn't for that airplane,I wouldn't have been able to put a ridiculous shipping quote on my item that sold on Ebay, hence affording all the things you keep asking for ! Aaah shucks dad ! I never looked at it from that point of view before...Your right, carry on Purolator! Carry on Fedex ! My daddy is successfull in ripping people off thanx to you !The end !

Hehehe good one.
But what about the snow plows in the winter. You think the planes are loud ha ha ha I have to laugh at that. The snow plows are not only loud due to the size but they are always backing up doing those beeping sound. It's all things we have to live with. The more tech we get the more noise there will be.
People who snore loud ....
Naw! just packem' up and shippem' away !!!
...but as for the garbage trucks, they provide the use of cleaning up the rest of the package materials not used for shipping those wonderfull Ebay items that we make profit from ridiculously over pricing shipping quotes via airmail !....so they both have to stay
How about those cars that go "THOOM THOOM THOOM....THOOM THOOM THOOM THOOM THOOM" changing the 'pitch ever so slightly? There's a guy in and out of his home in my street, curiously, several times a day (including 1.00 am) and I always thought it was his stereo with a really heavy base. He leaves it on with his car door open until he's ready to go inside his house.
But the other day there was a car beside me, idling at a red light light, while I was on my bike and I heard the same THOOM THOOM thing but there was absolutely no music there, just the thumping thing. So what exactly is it? And if it's so loud outside, what the hell's it like inside?

Muffler? I thought that was to make things quiet!!!
BristolUK wrote: willie c wuddle wrote:It sounds like the tin can cannon? (that oversized muffler) Muffler? I thought that was to make things quiet!!!
Mufflers are designed to make noise so the driver will think his $199.97 Walmart stereo is a real sound system.
uh-oh
mine was less than $100, and i thought it was pretty special, LOL!
Quote " If garbage trucks picked up garbage in the day the traffic in Moncton would be really screwed up. It would sort of be like any major event in Moncton involving more than fifty people."
Naw they just have to do like all the construction people that make damned good and sure they start all projects and flipping signs at the most heaviest traffic part of the day !!!
Cautiouslizard wrote:Should I be banned from having sex?
Why p155 off half the neighbourhood? Sorry about that. I'm only kidding.
One of my ex girlfriends was so loud when she had sex that the neighbours would always complain about the noise. I felt like telling them to send her back over here if they couldn't take the noise. Groan, That's an old one.
Not enough when it keeps waking the public up...they have bans everywhere else. They could change the flight schedule or anything. It's not about the big corporate machine but about my little babies - who need sleep.
Thats an incredily dumb thing to say - when the house was here before the flight path. Do you own a house? or even have babies? Cause you make no sense!
In order for them to be able to make their deliveries they have to use those times. I'm not sure about Purolator, but I know that FedEx has an incredible system in place for getting your stuff where it needs to go. And to do that, they have to fly during the night hours. That's also when nn-peak hours are when they can get flight time and not interfere with passenger flights.
I can sympathize with you, but I think it's just one of those things you have to get used to or think about moving, if it's an option...As for the kids, if they got used to sleeping with music on, they may become less sensitized to the sound of the planes. Just an idea and maybe something to try
notme wrote:well how about stopping all those cars and motorcycles with loud mufflers they keep me awake
WHOA WHOA WHOA.......notme's onto something there! Didn't they ban loud vehicles in Fredericton recently? Why not province-wide?? It pisses me off when some clown goes racing down my street at night while my little girl's trying to sleep before school the next day, with a muscle car and no muffler and those completely pointless sub-woofers blaring on 11. To top it off the music's crap. lol
My house is in the flight path to the airport too, although we're uptown and nowhere near there airport - I still hear those planes. I keep having nightmares of planes crashing into the University of Moncton campus. But there really is nothing that can be done about it. It's part of the sacrifice of a growing city.
Here's a suggestion:
a) Ground the planes after 9pm - that's probably bedtime or later for most young kids.
b) Move all that cargo by rail/truck after hours.
c) Observe FED EX and Purolator losing business and cutting jobs.
d) Complain because the local economy is going to he** in a handbasket.
e) Blame the government.
f) Wait in line at the welfare office. Get to know the former pilots/flight attendants/etc.
g) Complain because child support payments are late.
i) Turn off your radio and TV when the kids go to bed so they don't hear any noise at all.
j) Put the kids to bed with earplugs in place.
k) Turn the phone ringer off at kids' bedtime.
l) Put a muzzle on your puppy so he doesn't bark at anything after bedtime.
m) Don't use the microwave for heating snacks/hot drinks after bedtime. That beep can be pretty piercing.
n) No washers or dryers after bedtime either. After all, if other parents can support their kids without working at this time of night, you can too.
Get my point? There's more noises going on than those planes. A mom of 4 knows that when you don't bother keeping the house quiet to GET them to sleep, they learn to STAY asleep with whatever's going on. Put a relaxation CD in their room, and put it on repeat overnight. It will give them something soothing to listen to if/when they do wake up and will get them back to sleep pretty quickly. Before you know it, they won't even hear you yelling in the morning.
"with a muscle car and no muffler"-mike
I've seen more muscle on a beer belly than on those so called modern muscle cars with tin cans welded to their mufflers. Bring back a '70 Dodge Charger with a 440 six pack and watch the Hondas hide. Honda rules the track in the 4 cylinder class but are no match for the 8 cylinder big boys..........Nuff said.
