Life is good.
Yes, I'm so glad it's just not a place to store porn and music. It can also have things like grocery lists and phone numbers on it. It is such a wonderful device. It makes me wish I had invested in Microsoft back in 1976.
If only I knew they weren't just a bunch of hippies.
apparently living next to a school has its disadvantages; there are no tims cups out there, but plenty of chip bags, etc
oh wait! GOOD things!
well, my kids didn't find any more packs of birth control while walking to school today!

Some people who work in "the system" are gonna have to work a little harder, a lot smarter, and definitely faster. I just got me the best news I've had in weeks, and I'm going to court tomorrow to spread the joy!
yaaaaaaaaayyy!! enjoy it!!
looks like the weather's gonna turn out OK today!
just remind yourself that every chore is necessary because of someone you love
it takes SOME of the sting out, LOL!!
Remember my old motto......."Do a chore and look for more". If I keep this up I'll have the greenest lawn in the neighbourhood next summer.
Well, not the outcome I was hoping for in court this morning, but definitely progress. I won 3 out of 4 issues tabled, and the 4th is pending. I'm on a roll, baby!!
although the day isn't over yet, i mentioned beforehand that 13 is one of my lucky numbers, so i'm feeling pretty safe
besides ... my MIL phoned while i was out, and she's taking care of 3 kids so my hubby and i can go out to supper - alone together, hehe
anyhow, a police officer wants to come photograph my coffee table and kitchen cupboard .. both of which need cleaned off; i'll have to catch up with you all in a bit
Want some big boxes to hide the body in?
I meant to put raked leaves in, ya ya, that's it.
LOL
might be coming down in a couple of weeks - got any boxes with "peanuts" left?
Christmas may require a couple of those, LOL.
tripping over caps can lead to broken kneecaps - do be careful
darling little boxes? is this a trap?
I think there's a party next to Oldman's place tonight. I could hear the music way down the street awhile ago when I pedalled by and it got louder as I got closer. Sounds like they will be having a great time til the wee hours of the morning. Isn't it wonderful that people don't have to wait for hollidays to have joyous gatherings with friends and loved ones. Wahoooooooooooooooo.

I gave an underdash 8-track unit to a guy who thought he already had it all when it came to car stereo. He didn't beleive it when I told him I used to have an underdash turntable that played old 45's. I have one here but it chops the tapes when it changes channels and I think I saw a couple at the flea market. I can check it out tomorrow.

I received the following e-mail this morning, and I think it's just a fabulous idea! In a world where there's not nearly enough good things happening, would it kill us to take a minute and call a 1-800 number to make a difference? I know Starry will accept the challenge ... now the rest of you should too. I called ... and then I had my kids call. Figured if they're home on a storm day they have at least one thing to be thankful for already! If you don't want to watch the video, just call 1-800-501-5029 and leave your message of gratitude!

Don't let the comany suck you in. The trip over the bridge is free. They pay going over. It costs you double coming back. The good news is you're to smart to fall for that one so you will drive to the Wood Islands ferry, park the car, then walk on the boat for free, leaving the car behind. Enjoy your trip, and if you pass by here, please drop off some of that 29 cent cheaper per can beer on your way by.

Over the past several weeks, Avon representatives across Canada have planted over 180,000 pink tulips in honor of everyone who has been touched by Breast Cancer.
Next spring look for 1000 pink tulips in bloom at Centennial Park (by the war plane).
Every fall Avon has a Breast Cancer item for sale to raise money for a cure. Generally, in Canada about 150,000 items are sold.
This fall we have been frustrated because the items keep showing "not available at this time".
Today we were informed that the reason that the items are not available is because in 4 weeks Avon reps in Canada sold over 600,000 of the items. $3 from each item goes directly to the Breast Cancer crusade, so in 4 weeks $1.8 million dollars was raised for the cause!

Leaving no stone overturnedTOSH students collect for cemetery repair
The Journal Pioneer
SUMMERSIDE - High school students have collected $100 to help restore damaged gravestones - and faith in teens.
Two Grade 10 geography classes at Three Oaks in Summerside plan to donate the money to Peoples Cemetery. Vandals toppled more than 40 stones there recently.
"People were getting really upset with us - teenagers in general - because there was a lot of smashing of gravestones going on," explains student Samantha Stavert.
She calls the act disrespectful and asks how someone would feel if his or her mom, dad or other family member had a headstone smashed.
"That's people that they love and that's their memories of them."
She says it probably was young people who did the damage, but adds no mature person would do such a thing.
"They shouldn't even need to be in a graveyard in the first place," adds student Alex Riutta.
He hopes the donation will help give people a better view of teens.
"They'll think twice about who to blame."
Dave Arsenault adds people should realize when they blame teens, it's not all of them.
"It's like one little group of them maybe."
The idea to collect money came from student teacher Sean Pineau.
On a recess from a bustling class, Pineau explains students expressed disgust about the damage when they discussed it in class.
Pineau says people can make a difference in the world by doing things locally and he thinks teachers should teach community service.
He says students had been asked to give a loonie.
"Some people gave $5," he explains.

I was giving out a chocolate bar (a real one, not one of those midget things), a can of 7 Up and a vending machine-size bag of chips. Only 20 or so kids came out! Tons of leftovers.
I love seeing the kids out and having fun though. Giving them extra special treats gets a great reaction, especially from the littler ones.
I got to shop for all 4 of my kiddies today with someone else's money!
AND .... Halloween was fun and peaceful. We were Nannie's first visitors, and only one more child showed up while we were there, so we got LOTS of stuff from her house!

She???s our hero???11-year-old girl who can???t talk, walk saves her mother???s life
Halifax Herald
Every time 11-year-old Sierra Wells is called a hero, her big brown eyes sparkle and her cheeks dimple into a grin that lights up not only her face but the entire room.
Sierra has every reason to beam with pride. After all, she probably saved her mother???s life last Saturday.
What???s more, the quick-thinking Halifax girl got help for her diabetic mom without being able to walk or talk due to a rare disease called leukodystrophy.
"We???ve been going on about it all week, non-stop," said Trudy Bryan, who went into insulin shock over the weekend inside her family???s Cowie Hill apartment.
She is amazed by her daughter???s intelligent reaction to the medical emergency, she said Wednesday.
"I can???t stop thinking about it," agreed Diane Bryan, the girl???s grandmother.
She knew something was terribly wrong Saturday afternoon when she started receiving repeated phone calls from her granddaughter, who can only dial that particular number.
"She???s just really a hero ??? she saved her mother???s life is what she did," Diane Bryan said.
The three generations of females, along with Diane???s sister, Elizabeth Williams, sat around a wooden table inside the Ridge Valley Road apartment Wednesday afternoon, recalling the obstacles the Grade 6 student overcame to ensure help arrived for her sick mom.
Sierra rolled up to the table in her motorized wheelchair and communicated with hand signals and smiles. Her leukodystrophy is progressively destroying her nervous system.
"For someone that???s terminally ill herself to be that worried about someone else, it???s unbelievable," said her grandmother, who rushed to her daughter???s home after answering three cellphone calls from her silent but obviously worried granddaughter.
"She can think it in her mind, she just can???t get it out verbally," Trudy explained, occasionally playing with Sierra???s brown bangs as she spoke. "I wonder what she was thinking at the time. What did she want to say on the phone that she couldn???t say?"
Sierra and her three-year-old brother, Sebastien Wells, were the only other people home when Trudy, who was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes when she was nine, became horribly ill.
When Diane arrived, her daughter was "totally delirious" and vomiting incessantly. After leading her grandmother to Trudy???s bedroom, Sierra showed her grandmother where to find the orange juice and sugar in the kitchen.
But Trudy???s blood sugar level remained dangerously low, so Diane called her son, John Bryan, who is also diabetic. He zipped over from his home around the corner armed with more juice and chocolate bars, which eventually brought Trudy around.
"If she didn???t phone my mom, probably within the half-hour I would have been comatose," Trudy said of her unusual diabetic reaction. "I???ve been checking my blood 20 times a day. I don???t want it to happen (again)."
The women said that while they???re particularly proud of Sierra???s smart move on Saturday, they are continually amazed by the young girl, who has a sunny disposition each and every day.
"We???re always proud of her," said Ms. Williams, who called the media to share Sierra???s story and plans to make the youngster a shirt that says Mommy???s Hero.
"She???s just our hero, but she was always (our) hero."

So few Newspapers seem to look for the Good News that happens around us each day.To quote a line from one of my most favourite songs,
" There's a hunger for good news and heroes,But good news is no news so all of the heroes are gone. "
It comes from a song about America, but it can just as easily apply to Canada..
In the early 90's, it was pulled off the shelves and airways because some thought it was too inflamatory.
We Must Take America Back! by Steve Vaus
The American Dream has become a nightmare,Signs of the times are on cardboard on corners in town,There's a cancer called crime in our cities,And an unspoken fear, we're on our way down.
We must take America back Put an end to the gangs and the drugs in the streetsAnd the fact that the bad guys most always go free,That is wrong. We need leaders who lead us, not stick us and bleed us,Then take all our money and send it abroad. We must take America back, We need prayer in the schools and more things"Made In USA";It??s the least we can do, for the red, white and blue We must take America back. There's a hell here on earth in some city schoolyards,When bullets and birth control outnumber books something's wrong; There's a hunger for good news and heroes,But good news is no news so all of the heroes are gone. I know that the following is nothing Spectaliar, but it is a cute story and is GOOD NEWS..
Bedford mom gives birth in doorway of home on Halloween night with help of neighbour The Halifax Daily News
Halloween brought a sweet treat for a Bedford family.
Sheldon Camp and Patty Lebans welcomed their daughter Jordan into the world Tuesday evening, not at a hospital, but in the doorway of their home on Millrun Crescent.
Lebans's labour began around 8:50 p.m. The contractions were very short, however, so Camp didn't believe there was any rush to get to the hospital.
"I thought, in my medical opinion, that it was just spasms," he said with a chuckle. "Clearly I was wrong."
Realizing a hospital trip may be in order, the couple called Patricia De Freitas, who lives a few houses away, to watch their four-year-old son Logan.
When De Freitas arrived, Lebans's water broke.
"Pretty early on I knew she wasn't going to make it to the hospital," she said.
De Freitas, a former medic in the Canadian Navy, convinced Camp to call 911 at around 9:15 p.m. and paramedics arrived within 10 minutes, just before Jordan made her debut.
"We barely got Patty onto the stretcher when she said 'I have to push,'" said Camp.
De Freitas, meanwhile, was right there, coaching Lebans along.
"At one point she said she was scared and that she didn't want to have the baby in her house, and I said 'Well, it's not the worst place to have a baby,'" she said.
At 9:31 p.m. a healthy baby girl weighing seven pounds, eight ounces, was in Lebans's arms. Mom said her husband, De Freitas and the paramedics helped create a calm atmosphere, but she was worried about any lingering ghosts or ghouls ending up on her doorstep at the time.
"I was concerned because I was yelling, quite loud," Lebans said with a laugh. "And I was concerned the trick-or-treaters were going to wonder what was going on."

10-year-old takes on both bullies and cancer Eel River Crossing student launches drive to raise funds for Tree of Hope campaign
Times & TranscriptAs published on page A3 on November 09, 2006
EEL RIVER CROSSING - Marc-Andr?? LeBlanc couldn't take it any more.
When he saw students mercilessly teasing a little Grade 2 girl who had lost her hair because of her cancer treatments, he took action - several actions in fact, actions that belie his tender age of 10.
It was last November when the Grade 5 student at ??cole Arthur-Pinet witnessed the little cancer victim being razzed by her young peers. It got so bad that the girl refused to go to school.
"They were insulting her," Marc-Andr?? recalled yesterday.
Marc-Andr?? rushed to her defence, warning his schoolmates they'd better smarten up - or else. Then he got an even better idea. He would shave his head in solidarity with the girl.
He spoke to teachers and his principal about his idea and they in turn offered their support.
"I told my mom about it and she said it was OK, I could go ahead and shave my head."
And so he did.
"It felt different, but it felt OK though. It didn't bother me much."
The deed was done in front of the whole school so Marc-Andr?? could collect donations for the annual Tree of Hope campaign, the Dr. Georges-L. Dumont Hospital Foundation's effort to raise money for cancer research. This year's goal is to raise $1.2 million.
He also took the opportunity to lecture his students on the ravages of cancer.
Suddenly, the little girl's tormentors turned into her defenders.
Everyone pitched in to donate. And then word of Marc-Andr??'s deed spread through the area.
Unsolicited donations started pouring in from individuals, as well as from organizations like the Knights of Columbus and even from some municipal councils.
In the end, the 10-year-old amassed $1,310 towards the fight against cancer.
He shrugs nonchalantly when asked what could have prompted someone so young to be so selfless. It's mostly because he wants others to be treated in the same manner he would wish to be treated, he said.
Marc-Andr?? is one of this year's Tree of Hope Treekeepers, as someone who made a big difference in the lives of cancer patients.
His face is the most prominent one on this year's poster for the fundraising campaign that continues through much of November, culminating with the Tree of Hope Radiothon on CBC's Radio One, which will be broadcast live from the New Brunswick Community College in Dieppe on Nov. 23rd, from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. The French-language edition will be broadcast from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Nov. 24th, on Premi??re Cha??ne de Radio-Canada Atlantique.
Alumni to replace youngster's tree house Telegraph-Journal November 16, 2006
SAINT JOHN - After just one day, 10-year-old Brian Adams' wish has been granted.
Brian, who suffers from autism, and his mother Heather Adams received news Wednesday that the Irving Oil Alumni Group would replace Brian's tree house, which was dismantled by city workers Tuesday.
The new play space will four feet above ground, and put in Brian's front yard in about one week.
Tuesday, Brian watched city workers drive away from his home with remnants of his tree house in the back of their pick up truck. The tree, in front of the Adams' home on Saint John's East Side, sat on city property. The tree house was dismantled with no prior notice because of safety reasons.
"It's amazing," Adams said after taking a few deep breaths. "Everything is happening so fast, I'm trying to get my mind in focus."
Adams was shocked at the generosity shown by the group, who began to plan the idea Wednesday morning.
"We just thought we could do it for the little fella," said Stewart Hansen, a member of the alumni group. "Some of us saw it in the paper this morning and we decided we'd help Brian out."
After the tree house was dismantled, Adams was concerned for her son's well being because children with autism, she said, react strongly to changes in their environment. He played in the tree house every day after school, she said.
"I really feel overwhelmed and I think it's absolutely great for Brian," Adams said. "I feel relief that I don't have to worry about that now."
Hansen said the six by six foot structure should take about 10 days to construct, and would be placed in the Adams' front yard after it's built. He said Brian will add his own touch by building shelves for his stuffed toys.
"He's pretty overwhelmed himself," Adams said. "He said he's said he's the luckiest boy in the world, and he is."
Awww shucks, Spinny ... what'd ya go and tell everyone for?! These people aren't supposed to see my soft side! hehehe.
Anyways ... you're quite welcome. We are married, after all, so I assume I'll be spending some time with that tree myself in the future.

I'm quite sure Redneck Green could figure something out with some ducktape.
Wait until I get the film in my camera developed. I took a picture of an apartment building here in town. The glass door got shattered .. so they duct taped it. Pathetic. Contrary to popular belief, there are some things that duct tape really CAN'T fix.

Music store sends 2,600 harmonicas to Canadian troops
The Canadian Press
MONCTON ??? Christmas may already be blue for Canadian troops separated from family and friends while posted in Afghanistan this year.
But, they can give musical voice to their feelings when 2,600 Delta Blues harmonicas, one for each soldier, land as gifts from a Halifax-based musical instrument retailer.
Todd Thompson, marketing director for Musicstop, says the idea to help rouse soldiers spirits came to him as he was driving home from work and thinking about the bad news that usually comes out of the war zone.
Thompson says he doesn???t quite know why but somewhere in the back of his mind soldiers and harmonicas just seemed to fit.
"I don???t know if it was a movie it came out of or what," he said in a telephone interview.
"It seems to be the right sort of instrument. They???re handy. They???re portable. You don???t have to plug them in, and everybody can play a tune on them to some degree."
Thompson credits Coast Music in Montreal for helping track down so many harmonicas on such short notice.
Musicstop has also been accepting donations at each of their nine Maritimes locations, with funds going to the Military Family Resource Centre.
"More or less it???s just so they know we???re thinking about them and so they don???t feel as though they???re on their own over there," Thompson says.

Mothers Against Drunk Driving distributed over 6000 red ribbons at Turner's Christmas at the Coliseum. Every ribbon available in the city was distributed and tomorrow we will be borrowing and begging for more from some of the surrounding chapters while we wait for more to arrive from Ontario.
People who attended also donated over $700 to support the local chapter's efforts in education, public awareness and victim services.

NEW YORK ??? The city's subway hero spent Thursday basking in his newfound celebrity, showered with a trip to Disney World and $10,000 (U.S.) from Donald Trump as well as a medal from the mayor and plenty of national attention.
At a City Hall news conference, Mayor Michael Bloomberg also bestowed a unique title on Wesley Autrey ??? ???the hero of Harlem.???
In a statement Thursday, the family of the teen Mr. Autrey rescued, 19-year-old Cameron Hollopeter, said the 50-year-old construction worker ???deserves all of the attention and the accolades that are now being bestowed upon him.???
Accompanied by his daughters, 6-year-old Shuqui and 4-year-old Syshe, Mr. Autrey smiled broadly as he was showered with praise during an appearance with Mr. Bloomberg and other city leaders.

Metropolitan Transportation Authority Executive Director Elliot Sander called Mr. Autrey's action ???a death-defying act of bravery. We truly have not seen anything like this.... He was at the right place at the right time and did the right thing.???
Mr. Bloomberg presented Mr. Autrey with a Bronze Medallion, the city's highest award for civic achievement. Past honorees have included Gen. Douglas MacArthur, Martin Luther King Jr., Muhammad Ali and Willie Mays. The last recipient was Housing Authority employee Felix Vasquez, who caught a baby thrown from a burning building in 2005.
Mr. Autrey is ???a great man ??? a man who makes us all proud to be New Yorkers,??? said the mayor.
Dressed in a dark suit, rose-colored shirt and red tie, Mr. Autrey responded by giving the mayor a big bear hug and saying, ???Thank you, Sir.???
Mr. Autrey then again provided details of his heroism to the media gathered at City Hall.
Mr. Hollopeter, a student at the New York Film Academy, was at the subway station at 137th Street/City College on Tuesday when he suffered a seizure and fell onto the tracks just as a train was approaching.
Mr. Autrey was standing on the platform with his daughters and scores of other subway riders when he saw Mr. Hollopeter convulsing on the tracks. As he watched, he thought: ???I'm the only one to do it.???
He eyed the trough between the rails before jumping on top of the teenager, Mr. Autrey said, and relied on his experience as a construction worker used to ???confined spaces??? to calculate ??? in split seconds ??? that ???maybe we have enough clearance.???
Before jumping, he said he made sure his daughters were okay and asked two women to hold their hands.
The southbound train grazed the top of his hat. He said he and Mr. Hollopeter remained there for 20 minutes while MTA workers shut off the third rail.
???What I did was something any and every New Yorker should do: If you see someone in distress do the right thing ??? help out.???
Mr. Hollopeter was hospitalized in
