No Concert???

Wheelies wrote on 7/25/2006 6:58:20 PM :

I was reading in the newspaper this morning about a person that was very angry that P.E.I was getting all the good concerts. We had one of the biggest concerts here last year and nothing this year. Well we are having the Country concert which I have really heard nothing about. But you look at P.E.I. they had the Tragically Hip, with Sam Roberts, and a bunch of other bands on Canada Day weekend. Now they are getting the Black Eyed Peas and Pussy Cat Dolls. The stones are going to Halifax. What is going on??

Any one have thoughts on this?

how would they loose money when the concert was pure success

i think   they say that because they projected to high of a profit and did not make that marging  so like the banks they said  they lost money   because instead of making the projected amount   the made less  but in my mind profit is profit

I believe it when they say they lost money. How much do you think it cost to organize a concert like that? Probaby a lot less than they made from the concert. How much do you think the bands got paid (especially the Stones)? Probably way too much. I bet if I got the money the Stones got for playing this one show, I could retire comfortably.

I say big fucking deal. Moncton has one huge concert and now people expect it to happen every year. That country concert will feature some pretty big names. Not my cup of tea, but still a pretty big show. The Hip and Sam Roberts have played in Moncton before and they will probably play here again at some point. Black Eyed Peas? Who gives a ***?

The way I see it, Moncton gets better acts than that on a monthly basis for a lot cheaper than what you would pay to see the Black Eyed Peas. Funny thing is, no one bothers to check it out because it's not a "big concert".

There has been some pretty good shows downtown over the past year, and its true that they are not promored like they should be. But I guess I was expecting there to be a rock concert here, Oh well

They said on the New tonight that the stones doubled  U2 in earned money this year. Could you just imagine how much cash these guys are making...There all getting ready to retire would be my guess..LOL.. Need to make out their RRSP'S.

cant get greedy and steal all the shows.these communities need the economic spin offs just as bad as our communities do.

yes i agree the stones most cost alot  but if i made or throw a concert that would be calculated in my budget remember no one purposely looose money ....

umm it the government do !

They are crying in Halifax that the tickets are $100 each. At least when we paid big dollars for our tickets last summer we had the Hip and others to see as well..
