Who Thinks VIP got ripped off

Great show but I think for us that went out and paid for VIP tickets we were screwed. If i would have know that I would have been that far away from the stage for the money I paid I would have gone GA.Not to mention the rip off on food prices inside. Will never go back to another concert in Moncton.Worst experince ever!THEY SHOULD BE SUED

I completely agree and will go further--When I bought my VIP tickets from Ticketmaster on the first day they went on sale, they were being sold as on stage with the Rolling Stones-that we would get to be on stage and see what it was like to be a Rolling Stone.  I bought 5 tickets at $321 each and flew in from Vancouver to end up sitting so far from the $%#^(*( stage that I had to use binoculars to try and make out who was up there!!!!!! What the %^$% did I pay for??? What was that>??? You are right the Stones were awesome but I might as well have been watching it on TV and saved a &^*load of money.

Do I think VIP's got ripped off? Do I believe they had the worse seats in the house?  Yes!  I do believe something went wrong in terms of the seating arrangements. Yes! If you read my earlier post about my concert experience I may have mentioned that I had better seats and view than the so-called VIP's.

If, I understand VIP correctly in its term it???s; a person who has a special function at a event, meeting (speaker, dignitary, etc.) and should be treated with special amenities. A person or person's that is worthy of full complimentary treatment.

What I have heard from VIPs is that they were not able to see the stage from their vantage point. I do believe that someone dropped the ball and someone needs to step up to the plate and make some sort of formal apology to the VIP's.

I am going to start by saying I feel sorry that all of those who bought VIP tickets were dis-satisfied and that you paid so much money and were treated so poorly by the staff. Although I must admit I had a great experience and I had little or interaction with the staff so I cannot comment on how they behaving but nonetheless I apologize.

Great show, but all the VIP's were completely ripped! I too bought my tickets within 10 minutes of them goin on sale. I was also under the impression that we were getting something special. WRONG. We felt totally removed from the enegy of the show. When we got to the VIP gate we were told to enter at our own risk. Did not feel like a VIP. Friends in GA had a great time. What did I spend close to 700 dollars for? We got burned by the greed of concert organizers. 6000 VIPs... give me a break.

Great show, Great time. Here is the only kicker. The vip tickets we bought should have been the stage tickets that were sold later at $250.00. Did you see those people looking down over the Stones. That is the ticket I thought I was buying.

I think the VIP seats were in a bad location and am sorry if people feal they got ripped off. I probably would feal that way, too. They couldn't have been front row center because then the rest of the people couldn't see over the bleachers. They should have been turned to a different angle, though or mabey should have consisted of lazyboy chairs placed in front of the stage. It is my opinion that the people inside the stage had the worse location for the concert. Imagine getting wound up and falling over the side. Ouch. I noticed the price of tickets for front row center at Fenway Park were listed at over $7800.00 each (4 days hotel accomodations included) on one ticket site. I thought that was a bit pricy especially since you had to buy at least 2 at a time.

WHAT??? Lawyer... Dont you think your going a little bit over the top?  Come on..Your going to ruin every other concert oppurtunity.
Why should Moncton be ashamed of itself?  I'm from Moncton, and i truly think the concert organization went off with a BANG!  Kudos to them..  I think you should be the one ashamed of yourself about going to a lawyer.
Im not saying you have no right to feel ripped off.. I was just VERY shocked to see that someone would be so let down that they would waste more money that they paid for the concert to pay for legal fees.  Agianst an organization such as the Rolling Stones who have their own lawyers on staff to draft these contracts to protect themselves against littigations.
More-over VIP's were seated unfairly, they should have been the onstage tickets, I agree... But at the same time you had your alcohol and food right there in the bleachers.  It's not like you had to stand in line for almost an hour just to get a hot-dog!  You should at least feel a little bit grateful.

IF i only paid $99 per ticket, I would probably agree that it was a great concert.  However I was sold tickets for over $300 each and was told by Ticketmaster that I was buying OnStage tickets--and then I arrived to find myself sitting in bleachers that were way off to the side and no where near the stage.  Do I think the Stones are responsible--HELLO I think Mick and the boys probably had better things to do then to sit down and decide where the VIP CUSTOMERS would be sitting.  Ticketmaster and Concert Organizers(Donald K Donald) should be held responsible for the treatment of people who spent a hell of a lot of money going to see the Stones..Do I think Mick, Keith, Ron and Charlie put on a great show--HELL YES--and I am pretty sure that was who was on stage from what I could see.  I have also contacted CTV about this since all of the feedback they have been showing on the news was how great the day was and how happy everyone is.  I dont have a problem putting out that kind of money for a good show but I expect to get what I paid for not be shunted to the side.

I was all too excited when I learned that the Stones had announced a nationwide tour and that they (Rolling Stone) really, really were going to be here, in Moncton. I was on the internet faster than a shooting star. When I saw the ticket prices, I was absolutely torn that we would not be able to go.

I could kick myself for not getting better tickets and seating info any earlier, but who knew? As I live in no-mans-land this was too far to travel given the price of gas and all.
Unfortunately, the way it appeared was all the best seats would no doubt be VIPs. I really did not care I just had to be there at any expense. The need to somehow get close to these people that had been part of our lives for so long was tremendous. I kept telling everyone that I was going for the benefit of my husband but that was just an excuse, I was really looking forward to it myself. The trouble was we really could not afford the ticket but my husband said it was once in Moncton's lifetime.

You will laugh when I tell you that I do not think we could have been any further away from the stage if I had asked!

Unfortunately, where we were seated I became very upset with the arrangement. The people in front of us were loud and obnoxious and drank a lot. Simply they were drunk and stoned. My husband???s response to all this was 'It's a shame I didn't know VIP meant you were going to be seated with all the drunks or I would have stayed home.' My husband looked at me in disgust and insisted that we leave.

Our seats were as high as you can get and as far back from the stage as you can get. I thought I was going to faint! But somehow the excitement of being there and the look on my husbands face knowing that he was going to see his idols was good enough. They had massive screens up so we watched them to get a better view. My husband seemed to have lightened-up when a song came on that he recognized he began singing together with his friend and for me that was sensational, they really do go well together.

However, I do feel the City of Moncton and the Promoters should have taken better care of the VIPs. $334.00 is not cheap, what was cheap is where we had to sit and what we had to endure. It does not matter what they say, those tickets were not worth that money, though it is great to be able to say that I was apart of that and I would have and did encourage others to get VIP tickets. Yikes! I could not have anticipated the seating arrangements. I am greatly disappointed and if the first concert of this magnitude in Moncton was anything to go by it will not be good value for money next time and I recommend getting your ticket at the gate.

I would also like to add that more guidelines should come in force to stop this so that genuine supporters like us can go to concerts without being ripped off with over the top ticket prices.

If nothing else, I can say that I was there.

Thanks for reading!

BOO FREAKITY HOO, VIP's!!!!!  You had a SEAT to sit in, washrooms at your disposal, and no long lines for concessions.  Everyone had ups and downs, but I think the concert was a huge success.  I had a regular ticket and LOVED THE CONCERT!!!!!!!!!!!!!   And Newsflash --- you DIDN't have the worst seats in the house, there were people that were way farther away from the stage than you.  SO STOP YOUR CRYING AND YOUR SUING AND GET OFF YOUR HIGH HORSES AND ENJOY THE NEXT CONCERT WITH US REGULAR JOE'S-----after all, it would appear that we had more fun anyway, judging by the whining on this forum!!  Moncton, you're awesome and Stones, YOU ROCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Apparently you cant read.  I loved the Stones - the music was awesome--what I am pissed at is Ticketmaster and/or Concert organizers thinking it is ok to rip people off.  I DIDNT PAY THAT KIND OF MONEY TO BE ABLE TO PEE  OR EAT-- I PAID THAT MONEY TO ACTUALLY SEE THE BAND!!!!!!!  A weeks work is a lot of money..  Do you really think it is ok for Ticketmaster to get away with this because they will continue if nothing is done.  Why do you think its ok to NOT get what you paid for??

For your information WE did NOT  have a seat to sit in. We were not allowed to stand in the bleachers and WE did have to stand in long line ups!  My ticket ( a real splurge for us) stated RESERVED seating and there was NO #$%# seat!!  We spent over $600.00 and somebody broke a contract ...and yes, I am going to a lawyer. And as far as "high horses" ...very judgemental of you. For your information I have always considered myself a "regular Joe" and I work damned hard for my money. Im glad you had a good time, truly.  My experience was terrible, truly.  Somebody got very greedy and sold more seats than they could possibly supply.  I want my money back, sorry if that offends you!

Holy cow, ive never seen someone complain so freakin much man! If you didnt like your seats.. there is no reason why you just didnt get off YOUR high horse and go into the general admission area.

I had GA tickets, and i sat in front of the VIP seating, leaning against the fence.. and all day i commented on THE GREAT FREAKIN VIEW!! I didnt move for the most part of the day... AND YOU **IMPORTANT** PEOPLE WERE IN BLEACHERS!!!!!!! Seeing over everyones heads!!
When the stones came on.. I made my way into the crowd and ended up 5 rows from the front...  AND HAD A GREAT TIME.
I'm pretty sure Ticket Master and the organizers woke up one day and all collaborated this fantastic idea to rip off their customers..Come on now, use a brain.
It doesnt matter what anyone else thinks about the concert it seems Miss. Denise W... Your got it in your head that you had a rotten time.. and your gonna flood this forum with CRAP...
I just think it hilarious that lawyers have to become a part of a GREAT weekend.

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH

Some people make me laugh!!! Surprise) Surprise) Surprise)

There's gotta be some kids out there that had a great time, right??  Any good party experiences.. funny stories... ??

MAN- WHAT A GREAT TIME!

There seems to be a significant difference between the 2 groups (VIP&GA)

The GA's obvioulsy went to the concert for the music...We went into the concert knowing that we were gonna have to wait a long time for food, bathrooms, the beer garden... everything really.  But thats expected when there is 85,000 people.

VIP's on the other hand had food, rinks, and bathrooms at their disposal... I think the reason your so disappointed is that you got it in your head that you were some kind of important celebrity for the day cuz your were *gasps* VIP...
Big deal.. Get over it.
What were you expecting for such a huge concert?  A huge concert like this  hasnt been in Atlantic Canada... EVER.. So yah... there is room for improvement.

KUDOS TO EVERYONE WHO PUT THIS SHOW ON... All the organizers, promoters.. and everyone that is coming out to clean up the site... The city Councellor... EVERYONE!! Thanks SO SO SO much..
September 3rd, 2005 will truly be a day i will never ever forget.  I am so appretiative to be a part of such an awesome environment.

I agree with the last guy. My friend had VIP tickets and she said it wasn't so bad. She said she could see everything, and she could even see behind the stage, so when the stones got there, she got to see them.. but unlike you..i only paid like 115$ for my ticket..and i was less than 15ft away from the stage. I had a great time... It's not moncton's fault, get over it. You try organizing something that big and don't run into any problems...love to see you try.
SweetMelody wrote on 9/5/2005 10:47:05 PM :
I think most of you who enjoyed this event inspite of the high cost of your tickets should try and hold on to the fond memories of having been to such an event. The ones who really feel they were dooped well...should also do the do same. I don't think the event planners or the city of Moncton was trying to doop anyone. This was new to them and I think overall they did a terrific job!

Myself and friends all bought VIP tickets. It did seem to be a little disorganized no staff could help direct us to the vip section. The bleachers were much too far away. I believe that someone over sold the number of vip tickets as in our section there were no seats to sit in, we had to sit/stand in the aisle with a guy in a yellow shirt coming and telling us we could not sit there. When we asked where we were suppose to sit he could not aswer us or direct us to anyone who could help us with this question. Needless to say we stayed in the aisle. Also we got stuck with over $30 in tickets for food/drinks, my husband was to the bar near closing and he guy in front of him got served and they would not serve him they simply said we are closed. When he asked what he was suppose to do with all these tickets the girl said it was his problem not hers talk to the promoter as they were told to close.
On the plus side no lineups at all for the bathrooms. Despite everything we all had a great time and the show was awesome.

My first statement when we entered the concert grounds was "Thank God we didn't buy VIP tickets!"  Yes, they got screwd big time.  We had GA tickets and we had a wonderful view of the stage.  It was a fabulous concert, and I would say that everything was extremely well organized (except for the VIP seating) and everyone was having a terrific time.  We could not have wished for any better!  I would go again tomorrow if I could!

My first,(or second) thought, was oh God, what did we get for our money? I splurged and bought VIPS. I am a true Stones fan. I've never spent more than the regular price for a ticket to anything in my life. This being my fourth and possibly the last opportunity to see the greatist Rockin' Roll band in the world, I thought I'd make it a good one. Great concert, great show, great people. S#*t seats. Might I add, a dollar more per beer than the GA ticket holders. Evrything else was great for me. It's not the Stones fault, Donald K Donald probably.
wrote on 9/7/2005 11:12:08 PM :
First, I had regular tickets.  The concert was AMAZING!  You never think you'll see The Rolling Stones EVER  let alone in Moncton.  And I would do it again in a second.  I was about thirty rows from the stage (pretty good spot), had to stand on my tip toes just to see the band (I am quite short), a guy in front of me was peeing in a bottle, and a friend had a girl PEE on her foot.  Waiting to buy anything was such a long wait, so long that I didn't have a chance to buy a shirt.  After all these problems, I would still go back, pay as much, I wouldn't go for the VIP because being in the crowd is part of the rush of the concert experience.  How could they put those HUGE bleachers right in front of the stage?  It was not a private show for VIPs.  You guys had seats.  We weren't allowed to bring in chairs.  My back and legs were so sore at the end of the show, but I wasn't complaining.  I just saw the most INCREDIBLE band and concert that I will ever see.  Were all of these problems worth it??? ABSOLUTELY!!  They were just minor things.  I was there to see the Stones and nothing was going to ruin my day.
AslansAngel wrote on 9/8/2005 12:40:34 AM :

$1,000.00 each.......now those were the worst seats in the house (if they actually were seats). Look at the angle they had to watch from. It must be great to be rich.
alang wrote on 9/9/2005 9:21:30 AM :
$1000.00 is a crock of #@$!. My buddy saw them from stage in Moncton. He was on the first level up on the Keith side. He bought them through the regular channels and paid 250 bucks. He loved it. During the intro to Sympathy Mick was only 5 feet from him. As far as bleachers down front, that's not even realistic, but they could have sold a lot less VIP's and had a section somewhere down front level with the GA's. This isn't a question of being rich or poor, or spoiled or whatever. It is the principal of getting what you paid for.
wrote on 9/12/2005 3:18:30 PM :
WOW!....all I can say is "someone needs some anger management!"  I really don't think you can comment on VIP if you weren't there...my suggestion to you is go to another forum that pertains to you and stop YOUR whining!
I was in VIP (left side facing the stage) and the view was non-existent!  Not sure what you're talking about a great view...especially on the ground by the fence??...get a grip!  Plus...everyone is missing the point....We aren't complaining about the actual concert because it F***ing rocked!!!!  Nor do we feel better than anyone...we want what we paid for (and what was promised)  I was there with 9 other friends (all VIP) and we all felt the same...fantastic concert, crappy seats.  If I wanted some bad seats...I would have paid $100 NOT $350!!...got it!?!

I think you may get what you ask for, but suing is going a little too far. I think will ruin any future happenings from Moncton. I realize one should get what they have paid for but many people understand that these types of events have mis-haps and the organizers aren't always on the front lines. I think if you do that we will never have any such events here for many many years and that will hurt our economy. So , please think before you react.

Let's talk about one of the easiest ways to scare people off and make them avoid you...

All you have to do is constantly whine and complain about everything and anything. You feel like nobody pays enough attention to you, cares about you enough, and life is not fair to you. So you whine! whine! whine!

You constantly over-analyze everything and try to find something wrong with everything. You look at everything from a negative point of viewpoint.

I can guarantee you that if you act this way, you will be a failure with women or men. I'll speak for myself. I can't stand a woman or person who complains about everything in her life. Do something about what it is that makes you whine and complain. Others don't really want to hear you - honestly they don't. People will  be polite to you because they feel sorry for you and, realize you are a waste of their time.

To sum it up, nobody likes a chronic whiner, complainer. If you don't have anything good to say, to just shut up would be a good rule to follow. Think positive and be positive. See the good in every situation and person in your life.

And remember, men admire a lady, woman, girl, who acts confident, positive, and has a healthy outlook on life.

If you're a negative person and a constant whiner and complainer, resolve here and now, from this point on, you will develop a better outlook on life and when you do, you will attract nice people, have healthy debates and have a lot more friends.

The cup is not always half empty, sometimes it's half full!

So, all this talk about being "ripped off" is all nonsense. Don't ruin it for the rest of us.

Cheers!

This doesn't have anything to do with being negative....I had an absolute BLAST and have all good things to say and would do it again in a heartbeat.  However....the question is..."who thinks VIP got ripped off?"  ME, for one.  LOVED the concert, but VIP tickets were misrepresented...that's the point.

So please....take your Dr Phil overview and your "I wish I were him" picture (like we're supposed to believe that's you?) and check out another forum....is that negative enough for you?!....now THAT'S funny!

You know what I like that plan because it may shut everyone up once and for all.
Lets face it when you pay for something for example, If something cost ...uhm lets say $ 299.00 plus tax...and you know that's the cost, you pay it. So in other words you got what you paid for, right! So, what is all the fuss about? The fuss is all about people who are never satisfied. Never can be satisfied. And no matter what you do you may never satisfy them. So all these people need to sit down and shut up, you got what you paid for.

Ok! I am sitting on both sides of the fence on this issue.
Tose of you who feel that you got ripped off, did get ripped off. And those feel that you didn't, didn't. It's very simple you just cannot make everyone happy. Makes for a great debate tho.

Are you for real?!  What does the price have to do with anything?!  Were you VIP?!...probably not so I suggest YOU sit down and shut up!  This isn't about the price....it's about what we got for that price.  None of us would have a problem if we got what was advertised for the $300 we paid.  How hard is that to understand?  All you idiots that keep saying "you VIP people"... and saying we think we're better than everyone....SHUT UP!!!  This is a question of misrepresentation...not price or who's better than who...
It's the equivelant of buying a first class flight ticket to a dream destination and getting stuck in regualr seats...are you gonna be happy?...NO!  You've taken your hard earned money (that you probably don't have in the first place) spent it to have a comfortable flight in large plush seats...great food...drinks, etc.  Tell me you wouldn't be contacting the airline!!
For the record...I was in VIP and have no intention on seeking legal action like others I've heard.  I have to agree that could ruin the oppotunities for future events.  The concert was amazing and I would do it all over again.

Wow this is fun.......The girl from Oromocto is going to not come to Moncton anymore and sue the Rolling Stones because she didn't like her seat. There's another one who is upset over people being drunk and stoned. To the girl from Oromocto please stay home from now on and good luck with your law suit your going to need it. To the one who's husband was so upset with the drunk and stoned people I guess you've never gone to a rock concert before. ITS WHAT PEOPLE DO THERE it's not a Saturday night at the Opera.

I would save your money and spend it on a shrink rather than a lawyer!!  I think you have some deeper issues...anyone that left that concert because of the VIP seating has to be CRAZY!  I had VIP seats and had an absolute blast!!  The whole day was incredible....sure we were a fair distance from the stage, but give me a break!!  We were a group of 12 (everyone of us had a blast!) and we ALL had seats together (for those that say there were no seats), we WERE standing in the bleachers for the WHOLE Stones performance, there were NOT any line ups/waits for ANYTHING in VIP.
I guess what I'm saying is GET A LIFE!!

Mick Jagger probably doesn't like the look of her "seat" either but who cares. To people who get upset about people being drunk or stoned at rock concerts go home and play Mozart on your stereos. Guess what people sniffed in Mozart's day. Snuff is enuff here. I was at the concert fully sober and I really enjoyed it a lot. There was a guy three sheats to the wind, who kept bumping into me and was really irritating, but he was himself and is part of my memory of the concert. He could have been me on any other day. He had a great time and was happy. It was a great time and people are people. In a croud of 85,000 people at least 10 or 20 people must have been drunk or stoned. There was no violence that I could see and that's what makes a concert really great.
