I think this will be the next inevitable ploy by the half wits that run c103. I remember listening the weeks he was off and Lisa Marshall was the only one mentioning him...but the day the canned her...they started mentioning Ernie, his cancer battle, and his triumphant return. That's a corporation for you...doesn't care about it's people until it finds a use for them.
Colin and Sarah were mere fill ins to make us think "oh how horrible! I wish Ernie was back." I personally felt sorry for sarah as rumour has it she was just a college student that they stuck in there...poor kid...she wouldn't be able to say "no thanks I don't think I"m ready for this" and they knew it.
C103 will have to pull a major coup and hire someone really great to take over after Lisa...I really don't think that either colin or sarah are more than temporary replacements...but damn good PAWNS in the game of radio.
It will be interesting to see if Ernie has the cojones to stand up to management at C103 and tell us the truth about Lisa's early departure. I was one of the many to receive a letter from the GM that out and out LIES and states that it was Lisa's choice to leave early. From all I've read and heard this is just another way to cover their assess.
Hey Ernie...don't be another PAWN...call Lisa up...have her on your show one more time...and let her say goodbye the way she should have been able to in the first place!
Have some balls man...she is your friend is she not?
True, I'm sure he is...they sounded like close friends. But it would be nice to see some loyalty...what are they going to do...fire him? That would be the last nail in their own coffin!
But then again...they haven't shown us they have a whole lot of common sense.
For some obscure reason, Monctonians seem to prefer friendly and relatively objective news spewed by C103.
I **** C103 and barely ever listen to it. They are so biased and boring, you'd have to be half dead to listen to most of the crap that is being said and or played. I can't stand it. I do check out their web site and get concert news, but not often.
However, what you have seen with the firing of Lisa Marshall is the abuse that accompanies "success." In almost every case today a company will use their superior position in the marketplace like in the case of C103 and they'll fire you, turn around and use tatics like "cancer" to minimize damage; and that generally means screwing the citizens who pay to keep them going. The easiest definition of "evil" is f ucking over someone for your own gain. Big companies often do that as a first recourse, rather than a last resort.
Lets look at Enron shall we. Enron is a shining example of corporate success, if only they didn't get caught. Hell, even getting caught hardly did anything. The people most responsible are still walking free, enjoying their riches.
As long as corporations can f uck over people for their own good, there is no free market. It's not like a candy store; we can't just go and open up next door and compete.
I can think of no giant international business that didn't get where it is by intentionally f ucking over lots and lots of people. Can you???. I certainly don't despise all big business; just the ones I know are evil....C103.
Thanks for letting me rant.
First off, I agree that is sucks that Lisa was canned early with out a proper goodbye. It really does.
I don't agree with all the bad talk about the other radio host however. There's been a lot of picking at Colin Mckay and if anyone of you knew him personally you'd know he's a good guy. You may not like him as an on air personality but that's a matter of opinion. As for him filling in the morning spot and people saying they where just fill ins to make us think how horrible and miss Ernie? Lets be realistic here. You have a job, someone is absent, quits, gets fired whatever they need someone to fill the spot. As an employe when your boss asks or tells you to work a certain shift, you do it.
As far as sarah's situation your opinions or "rumors you've heard" are nothing but speculation just as well as my opinion. Perhaps she was eager to have an oppertunity on the air. you can't say they just stuck her in. I think she did a great job eventhough she sounded a bit nervous.
I agree that companies abuse there power alot and I don't agree with it. I'm in a situation myself where things will be uncertain over the next few years and I would hate to leave considering I've been here for 7 years. Fact of the matter is though that this abuse by employers has been somewhat (not fully but to an extent) brought on by the workforce of the mid 90's started in large part by the IT sector and followed by others. People thinking that they're all worth 20-25-30$ Plus an hour and job hopping like there's no tomorrow giving absolutely no loyalty to there employer. People leaving jobs after a year of service to move to another better paying job to then screw that second employer over at the drop of a hat for another 2$ an hour and doing this over and over again.
jo-mamma wrote:Well "assassin", you certainly picked the right screen name, because your uninformed post certainly makes you look like an ass.Yes C103 screwed up bigtime in their handling of Marshall's departure for whatever reason and unless you work there, we'll never know the whole story. But it did make them look like fools. To imply that they would use Ernie's illness for ratings or to "cover up" their PR problems makes me think that you're about 14 years old. Your post is in such poor taste that nothing the "evil corporation" could ever do, could top it. Lisa Marshall's gone. (Many of us are actually quite happy about that) Get over it!Wait until you hear Troy Tait teamed with Ernie and you'll find out what two seasoned professionals sound like (instead of just one and his mop-headed whiney activist side-kick).
I'm asking an honest question...I was listening the day they turfed Lisa. Andrew Stewart was on the air in the afternoon saying that Lisa left...and with the very next breathe he'd say but Ernie after battling cancer will be back soon! I thought it weird because I had been a faithful listener of the Breakfast Club for several years, and I was listening the day Lisa announced his illness, and the days following she was the only one mentioning it frequently...so I found it odd that after weeks of C103 ignoring Ernie's illness...they would choose the day Lisa "left" to promote his triumphant return.
I like Ernie...I do not like C103, nor can I support them after what they did.
How did you find out who would be doing the show with Ernie? Personally, I'm not even going to listen to C103 anymore...but I wish Ernie the best...and that would be to leave that disgraceful company in the dust.

Oh poor guy, booo hooo hooo!
He has nothing left in his miserable existence so now yu're going to insult people here.
Listen cry baby you know the distance you'd have to move your pinky in order to not sound like an idiot.
I know the burden of pressing off is a great one, but c'mon insults like that will only get
your a$$ torn up in here whether we are 17 or 75.
I'm so sorry. I thought maybe, just maybe, one of you might have had a diploma, and were,
perhaps deep into a career at C103. But instead I realize you are the guy who is bagging my
groceries.
I bet you graduated with your 1.2 GPA (rounded off nicely with that "D" you got in wood shop)
Now, I see you are still un-decided the job mixing concrete...psssst...I'd take it I were you...
C103 in not hiring.
You know what the best thing about knowing people like you exsist is that;
I'll be earning numbers larger than you can count . Doesn't matter, get me a coffee.
Congratulations! You're mediocre

I appreciated their off beat humour. and if professionalism is some guy saying he is in a hottub..than give me unprofessionalism anyday please!
Nice to see you could make it about the professionality of the announcers vs their appearance.

immaturity seems be be abounding with yours as well my dear. jo mamma...go figure.
You needed read anyfurther if you don't like what was said.
I hope you enjoy C103 with their highly professional group of people.
I certainly won't..
Now, where did I put my Blues Clues teddy bear?
puppyluv wrote:immaturity seems be be abounding with yours as well my dear. jo mamma...go figure. You needed read anyfurther if you don't like what was said.
I am sure someone of your rather "adult intelligence" was able to read my typos....hopefully you were able to understnad the gyst of what was meant..*grabbing my teddybear*
But that being said, you still are wrong...and c103 still did the dirty and like it or not, Lisa was good. Hope they pay you well enough that when they do such a thing to you, you will be able to support yourself.
point blank, nothing else to say, not that you would even try to understand or listen to another???s opinion..since you are so jaded to differing cultures or people.
That being said, I am out of any discussion with you.
As a smart man once said, never have a battle of wits with an unarmed person.. (that unarmed person would be you "jomomma")

a) how do you know Lisa gave two weeks notice? do you know her? it wasn't mentioned on air.
b) she was pulled off the air 3 days before her final show
c) letters are coming from the General Manager stating that i) he doesn't know for sure if she did or didn't say goodbye, which is an out and out lie, they tape everything at stations as per CRTC rules (look it up...I did when I got that fishy response that a man who is supposed to be running a station doesn't know what is being said on air), and ii) it was her choice to leave early...which have seen from posts on another board from Lisa herself, is totally untrue.
d) she does have a lot of pissed off and vocal fans...you claim to know tons of people who hated her because she was someone who stood up for what she beleived in (? an activist I think you call it) and yet...you are the only one posting your dislike of her here...so where are the rest of your friends who hate lisa club
e) why do you hate her so much? you say you had no use for her causes? which ones? the ones helping cancer patients? or juvenile diabetes? no maybe it was the IWK? or The Make a Wish Foundation? Crossroads for women? Moncton Headstart? I'm sure there were more these are just some of the ones I remember her talking about on air, or seeing her at many events...oh wait...maybe it was the GAY cause?!!! hmmmm? so which one is it that you don't have any use for yo mama???
we've stated reasons we love her...humour, incredible character, honesty, caring, real and relatable, helping, giving, generous, edgy....ya you are right...what was to like...we should all just lay down when we feel an injustice was done to someone who, although we may or may not have ever met her in person...we felt we knew enough to call a friend.
I wonder...would anyone, anyone...stick up for you that way?
a) It was not mentioned on air but WAS on the web around May 3rd saying she quit and was leaving May 19th. By now you know this is true.
b) Yes she was. She had a falling out with her Program Director (not Hilary M.) over voice tracking her final show and was let go. (Even I think it was an overreaction)
c)I agree it wasn't her choice to leave early.
d) A lot of people find her very unprofessional and she didn't have much of a voice.
e) Nice theory. No problem with any of those causes. (Good luck on your homophobe hunt though) The problem was with her hijacking someone else's product (broadcasts) to slip her causes in. Any or all of them. Wrong time, wrong place = unprofessional.
I never claimed she didn't have fans or that she was wronged in her final days. All I'm saying is she made the decision to quit and many people feel it was no big loss. They just have better things to do than whine about it on the internet, like her fans do.
(I don't have anything better to do and its fun to watch her rabid fans get worked up). ;-)
by the way...insiders say Andrew Stewart has Hilary's hand so far up his @$$ that he doesn't know how to talk for himself anymore...it was not Andrew's decision he was just the puppet that carried it out. Hilary doesn't trust anyone to do their job, so he does it for them.
Who are these people who found her so unprofessional? And if so, why was she not taken off of the air before a ten year period passed? Would not the CRTC have stepped in and removed her if people had complained?

Getting fired, unfortunately, can happen to the best of us. There could have be a personality conflict between Lisa and the Station? Maybe Lisa's idea of the job and her departure might have differed from what management was thinking. But what I think her listeners were wondering or asking was: why was Lisa unjustly fired and why was she not able to say goodbye to her faithful listners? Regardless of the circumstances, I think it handle wrong.First of all, C103 owed it to their listners to expalin Lisa's departure, but what they did instead was they took the high road... and as I said, getting fired can happen to the best of us. Keeping in mind that Lisa's has to face the hurdle - the stigma of being fired - has just been added to her resume...how nice is that. That said, there are ways you can address this issue and put it in at least a neutral, if not a positive, light, but any lie that C103 has to undermines their position. But they don't really care about that, all they seem to be concerned with is what people are saying about them on other forums.
Fudge C103!!!
