I received this email a few days ago....Let the debate begin....

The people who founded those organizations are not the same ones who throw racial slurs around. You underestimate the privilege you inherited by being white.

This proves nothing about race. This simply shows what poverty will do to you.
Do you think that has to do with the fact that they're black? Or because American society does not give them equal opportunity? White people in the states get preference, how can I say this?
The unemployment rate for black or African Americans is pegged at 9.4% or more than double those of white americans. The poverty rate for people reporting white as their only race was 10.8% in 2004, up from 10.5% in 2003. The poverty rate for people who reported black as their only race was effectively unchanged at 24.7% in 2004

I wasn't replying to you.
Racism- The belief that race accounts for differences in human character or ability and that a particular race is superior to others.
So in order to be racist, you must first beleive you are superior.
So why is it that in so many of these points here, it is only another race that is able to have pride in their origins?
I agree that everyone is equal, but when I say that I mean I am as equally allowed to have pride in being white as a person who has a different colour skin is.
Unfortunatly with today's world, if I were to say I was proud of being white, I'm suddenly a racist. So why is it that different races are allowed to have pride.
They are no longer a minority, unless they make themselves one. There is no more slavery, they have just as many rights as we do, and who really cares what colour their skin is?
The point is, racism is not just part of being white. It's part of not accepting that another person, race or culture is no more or less superior then the other.

Lets remember that Pride can be taken too far.
From what history has shown the majority of the violence has occurred due to the fact that healthy "white" peoples feel and/or beleive they are superior to others of a different color, ability, etc.
For many many years it was whites who enslaved not only blacks but the mentally and physically handicaped, peoples of asian and indian or native decent.
Did you know that in 1930's in the New England States there were some facilities who practiced human sterilazations on children of poor native american and asian families to try and wipe them out because they felt that they were a disgrace and burden to their communities. This practice was not widely spoke about and still is a very well kept and painful secret for the families who did survive. Many of these kids grew up not being able to produce children of their own and had NO idea why. Who did this you ask and who allowed this to happen? The white heads of the communities.
Who enslaved the Jews and created the Holocaust? Yes they were German HOWEVER their reasoning was they are not White so they must go.
History has shown us so much hatred from our ancestors and past that frankly there are lots of times that I am NOT proud to be white. We are from a priveledged society for sure.
If peoples of other origins feel the need to create their own safe haven then so be it. Honestly they are only trying to better them selves and rise above their past.
Hatred and rasicism is something that is taught. Why not be proud of these people for their hard work and strength in trying to improve themselves. If you don't agree with their peaceful organizations then don't support them. Keep in mind that there is a difference between an organization that teaches black history and an organization such as the black panthers that teaches hate. We also have such organizations known as the KKK which has so much blood on their hands that they should be wearing red to hide it.
