	This waterspout formed in the Northumberland Strait by the Confederation Bridge in August 2004. The Bridge was closed for three minutes after the sighting. A similar phenomenon was sighted off Rustico on Saturday.

Waterspouts touch down in Gulf
More warnings issued Sunday


It was a sight a Rustico tour operator has not seen in a long time on waters in his area.

On Saturday, Norman Peters was heading home around 4 p.m. with a boatload of passengers when someone spotted a waterspout in the distance.

"Them things are quite a sight to see," said Peters, who has operated a deepsea fishing tour on the waters near Rustico for about 40 years.

Peters described the image. Whirling winds stretching down from the skies almost touching the water.

At the base, water "thrashed" about due to high winds.

Meanwhile, tourists, fascinated by the spectacle, were busy trying to capture the image on camera.

On Saturday, Environment Canada issued warnings about waterspouts developing off the North Shore of P.E.I.

On Sunday around 3:30 p.m., mariners were again warned about the possibility of waterspouts developing - this time in the Northumberland Strait.

Peters said his friend from Covehead saw about four waterspouts in his area on Saturday.
