Christianity, Judaism, Islam on Gay Marriage

Dudes:

I happen to be straight but I also happen to know that, constitutionally anyway, straights, gays, lesbians, Jews, Abasynnian Baptists, Mormons, Copts, Agnostics, hermits, and meter maids are all Citizens first, ethnic or otherwise declared later.

I belive strongly that ANY two people who are hard-working, building a life, paying taxes, contributing to the community and are half-assed squared away (wish I was...), let them marry, if only in a Civil ceremony- at least.

Let them share in each others fortune, good or bad just as do heterosexuals; 401K's, mortgage titles, automobile registration, trusts, ski condos, life insurance, whatever. WHAT is the big deal, here?

Now I know that banks and other financial institutions would prefer that "unsettled" estate proceeds go to the institution if it's not a conventional marriage. Just another form of theft etc. sanctioned by the Government .

It's time for this country to calm down, grow up and move on into the PRESENT century with it's attention a stuff that's actually mission critical, like employment, deteriorating infrastructure, infant mortality, offshoring, air quality, get it?

Let me state from the start that I am for Civil Unions but against Same Sex Marriage.I believe that Civil Union should guarantee inheritance, access ,and partnership rights.

All life forms on earth, are endowed with 2 goals.Survival and procreation. With out both ,any species would become extinct.

By whatever design,be it Devine or chance, the male and female bodies have sexual organs that have but 2 functions.Procreation and recreation. Both are essential to the survival of our species. It is natural. It is in our genes.Procreation does not guarantee a perfect ofspring ,in animals or humans.Mistakes do happen. Some are caused by outside influence, and some by pure chance.Whatever the cause,it is a defect .It is not natural.

While Adam & Steve,or Eva & Eve,do have a right to exist and to protection, they can not expect the majority to accept their lifestyle as Natural. It is not.Tolerance and acceptance are two different things.

I agree 100% with BillyBob....... no point in debating, no one is going to change their minds.

About a year ago I discovered my father is involved in a same sex marriage. He claims that since he married my mother he has been getting the same sex for over 47 years.

I might as well kick in my 2 cents on this subject. First of all I'm not gay so the idea of 2 guys getting married does not appeal to me in any way. They have the right to do what they want to just like anybody else does. I have no problems with that. What irks me is when they hold hands or kiss in public. Maybe I'm being old fashioned here but I'm set in my ways. To me it just seams unnatural and grosses me out to see 2 guys kissing or holding hands. Like I say, I have no problem with 2 guys getting married.....................That is unless I have to be one of them.

For anybody who can't see the point about my last message, let's go to a gay bar. I mean hypertheoritally, (I can't spell worth poop). Anyways, I'll pick my nose all night long and you dig out your ear wax or scratch your butt . See if anybody goes "Ewwwww". Please, you guys, keep it private. Thanx in advance.

same sex mariage should be banned
but like every other stupid Canadian laws  it is  here to stay   since this is  it why not promote incest mariage and pedo mariage   and animal mariage     these people are all working and taxes paying persons    so they deserves their rights also

ps    I DO NOT BELIEVE IN ANY OF THOSE MARIAGE AND /OR PRATICE    IT IS JUST EXAMPLE OF THE STUPIDITY OF PEOPLE WANTING THE SAME RIGHTS JUST LIKE THE SAME SEX
willie c wuddle wrote on 10/5/2005 10:21:49 PM :

If GOD wanted gay marriages instead of creating Adam and Eve would HE have created Adam and Steve????????????????????

willie c wuddle wrote on 10/5/2005 10:33:40 PM :

Ok ok, my conscience compells me to type the following:
If two fruits are already happy why eat the forbidden fruit?
Maybe Adam and Steve would have done better.
But, how would they reproduce???
I don't want to know how.
Honest, I don't.

What can we change now? It's all been said and done, and at the end of the day we ultimately do not have the last word...but you know who will or need I say more.

Regardless of one's view on homosexual marriage, we are never given the right to demean, malign or abuse those we do not agree with.

I'm marrying a couple (man and woman) on August 20th, both of whom do not share my Faith.

Both drink, party etc etc...

I was there last night to receive the marriage papers and when i walked in it was not the atmosphere I am used to.

I love them though.

They'r efriends of mine.

Same goes with anyone.

Regardless of oritentation.

People have dignity because all are made in the image of God.

Though I don't AGREE with everything I see others do, yet at the same time I think it important to show compassion, understanding and above all, I think that offering HOPE to the homsexual, liar, thief, pedophile, etc etc is what Christians are called to do.

God loves all...He loves us enough to offer Hope and Change; Mercy triunphs over judgment.

We see things that are diffrent as wrong. It is a natural reaction. The world is full of ignorance and many people feel it is their right to abuse someone for what they feel is right for them. If everyone just worried about them selves and much as they worry about and judge otheres, it would be easier for everyone

Cobells And Cookies? Hmmmmm, Sounds like it could be an old George Jone's song or something. Everybody hop on their lawn mowers and we can sing along as we drive ro the beer store.

Cowbells And Cookies...Not written by George Jones

Just cowbells and cookies,
The combination sounds strange.
Especially to the rookies,
Who never been on the range.

My little dog got run over,
And my wife left me today.
I'm sure going to miss Rover,
I wipe my teardrops away

Some say my life is hell,
And I hear what they say.
I'll just shake my cowbell,
And eat my cookies all day.

No Christians, Jews, Islammers, or Gay people (whether married or single) were attacked by this song.

you have a point,

the real question is not weather gay marriage is good or bad, rather weather it it part of individual private life, and hence can not be regulated, or is it part of social life, and hence part of public domain.

I am on the side of the latter. If we dont express our views on the subject, it may affect us. How? well, what if your or my child wants to marry same sex, then what?

sassy_chick wrote on 2/19/2006 5:37:55 PM :

Then they marry the same sex..

I don't care what my children choose as long as they are happy and healthy..

oneandonly wrote on 2/19/2006 5:53:08 PM :
you know if i knew way back when, what i do now,i would have never married.but of course we all have our own private opinions of marriage.but i do believe it should be their right as well as it is ours.
Celeste wrote on 2/19/2006 10:43:38 PM :
I know from experience some people obviously have underlying prejudices, as in they don't mind homosexuals but if 'one comes onto' them, it changes. If you see homosexuality as something normal that you personally aren't into, can't you just tell them you're not interested, like you would if a member of the opposite sex who you're not interested in comes onto you? So many people think some kind of violent opposition is the only solution in this case.
And again, as much as people accept homosexuality, they rarely want to be associated with it, evident in sentences like 'I am not gay, but nothing wrong with it,' as opposed to 'Nothing wrong with it.'
This isn't directed at anyone in this thread, I know some people have said these sentences but they explained their reasons, but we all know that the majority of society (or so it seems) although accepting of homosexuality, do not wish to be associated with homosexuality themselves.
Personally, I don't tell anyone my sexual preference unless they ask or it is relevant to the conversation, because I don't think it matters.
