Granted A Permit To Preach!

WWJD wrote on 10/12/2006 7:03:15 PM :
Friends, I wanted to share an IMPORTANT breakthrough!

Last Saturday we went to the Farmer's Market and preached the Gospel.

Nearing the end, a man came out and asked us to leave and related that we cannot preach at the Market and that such is "private property".

Upon this news, we thanked the man for allowing us to preach for as long as we did and went our way.

I then wrote to Moncton City Hall relating the incident and how I believed the Market was City Property; I was correct.

City Council spoke with officials on this incident, as I related we would either be granted a permit to preach or would sue for breach of our Charter Right to freedom of speech and freedom of religion.

This morning, at 11AM, John Rossiter and I met with a senior official of the Moncton City Council to discuss this issue.

Needless to say, we were quite surprised to note that the senior official representing this city is a BORN AGAIN CHRISTIAN and has been for 17 YEARS!

He assured us we are able to legally preach anywhere at anytime in any place which is public or owned by a Government entity.

He'll be speaking with City Officials to work out a deal on the method of preaching and etc etc when we do go back to the Market to continue preaching the Gospel.

City Officials are concerned that they will lose customers and their biggest concern is the "bottom line" money issue; hence, they don't want us to preach, allowing for customers to become offended and leave.

This
senior official related thsi information to us and understood that we will continue to preach regardless of the City's interests in revenue; he asked if we could work out a deal which would be diplomatic to all parties, to whcih we agreed, as long as such process allowed us to continue preaching Christ.

I would like to thank Pastor Steeper, Stiles and the Wednesday Prayer Group, as well as Matt Mahar and John Rossiter for praying!

The
senior official representing the City of Moncton will also be speaking with the RCMP (Police) and, as we understand it, also seeking to grant ICM Open Air Outreach a preaching permit valid for the entire City!
