Jesse Morell's words show why we are all here preaching:

BibleThumper wrote on 4/30/2006 8:36:49 PM :
Name: Jesse Morrell
Occupation: Open Air Preacher
Age: 21

1. What is your purpose in traveling to different campuses?

OpenAirOutreach.com is a network of preachers that travel full-time to campuses to spread the gospel. We are young men who will not tolerate the sins of our society to go unchallenged. We seek to warn every man, and teach every man, so that every man might be presented perfect in Christ Jesus.

2. How are you generally greeted?

We are opposed on every side. The heathens and pagans on the campus oppose us for preaching against their sin and the professing Christians on campus (whom we often find to be hypocrites) oppose us for preaching against their sin.

While open air preaching I've been kicked, hit in the head, pushed, spit at, soaked in beer, have had eggs - bolloons - cigarettes - and a glass bottle thrown at me, all to the glory of God.

3. How do you percieve OU's campus (is it mainly religious, nonreligious, atheist, Protestant....)?

There are atheists, protestants, catholics, and all the rest of them. But my impressions of the campus haven't been of their religious beliefs as much as their wicked practices. The OU campus is full of adulterers, blasphemers, masterbators, liars, theives, homosexuals, sodomites, pot-heads, and especially drunkards and fornicators etc. They are monsters of iniquity, a generation of vipers, sons of the devil. And these are to be the future leaders of our country and the world? God help America.

4. What kind of greeting did the campus give you?

I've preached numerous times on the OU campus, but the largest crowds might have been up in the 300 range. They seemed interested and curious. Most of the students would inquire about the bible and Christianity. We were not forced off the campus by an angry mob chanting "LEAVE OUR CAMPUS" as in other places, so I thoroughly anticipate returning to OU.

5. Why do you think people argue with you?

There is this "tolerance" and "diversity" teaching going around these days. Of coarse we preach that God does not tolerate sin and that He commands all men, not some men, to repent. So these "tolerance" people don't seem to tolerate us very much. The "diversity" people don't want to be diverse enough to accept us. People say, "you are entitled to your opinion" but if your opinion is that many and most other opinions are false or wrong, then people have a problem.

But a more simple answer is mainly because they are sinners who love their sin.

6. What has been your most interesting experience in your career?

My entire career is interesting, but the most exciting to tell you the truth have been the times I've been arrested for preaching God's Word. Never have I felt more of the presence and favor of God, or more in God's will as though in the book of Acts, then the times I've had to spend nights sleeping in a cell singing and praising God.

7. What do you think is one of the greatest misconceptions people have of you?

People will accuse us of being crazy; John 7:5, Acts 26:24. But in reality they only hope that we are crazy because if we are not, then they are in big trouble with God on Judgment Day and are in need of the Savior Jesus Christ.

8. What made you want to start this group?

I started OpenAirOutreach.com a couple of years ago because America is heading towards judgment as fast as a bullet at the end of a barrel. My generation is on a greese slide down to hell. But God commands that Christians take a bold stand in these days to declare God's Word of "repentance towards God and faith in Jesus Christ." Only Jesus can make men new. Only Jesus can cover and cleanse the sins of my generation.

9. If you could give one word to the OU students what would it be?

REPENT!!!

I happen to respect the work some of you are doing and I think it is great that there are people in this world who stick by their beliefs. The world is full of sin and took many years to get this way. People are people. They can not be changed over night. A few can but most people will put up a fight if somebody tries to change their lifestyles. Just take away my peanut butter and you will see what I mean. I really enjoy the debates going on here lately and find them a lot better than watching those crappy reality tv shows. I will sit back and watch the fireworks but please don't hurt each other.

Those words have more truth in them than maybe even many of us realize.

Can I have your peanut butter?
SoulsBreath wrote on 5/1/2006 7:02:24 PM :

Newsong.. what do you think about "cause & effect"?

I agree with what Willie says but I wouldn't "dare" ask for his peanut butter! haha..

Wouldn't it be mush easier and have more impact on this world teaching cause & effect.. cause it has to do with sins; maybe worded differently.

Now that, I speak of my own experience.. of fealing of being an angel; it all started with a book I read and put it into my own life. Before I knew it, I "understood" it all/everyone; I had no judgement for anyone but only empathy.

I wasn't on any drugs nor did I need any; cigarettes, or alcohol was totally illimated without struggle. It all came naturally;

Now, I didn't sin (almost) because I had illiminated all darkness in my life completely. Mind you, I'm not there now; I've lost my way somehow with my own jeolousy but I know; I've been there. Nothing could ever make me angry.. Absoluetely nothing! I could face the devil and all his tricks; that's how secure I was.

Unlike any bible that doesn't make sence to alot of us; (not saying it has no truth to it) but what God really wants from his children, I think, is that we treat ouselves like loving brothers and sisters basicly.

Are we not all on the same page even if we don't agree with everything said.

You raise some interesting points, Souls.I would like to present a small though which goes something like this.

a loving parent places a fence in the yard and tells his child that he can play within the boundaries of that fence because outside of that fence is a whole new world and a new set of dangers.the child decides to jump the fence when mom isn't looking.

my question is this....what loving parent would not go out and find that child?what parent, when that child was found?

God has places boundaries for all of us.regardless of faith or not, we all have a limit that God has set for each of us and when we jump that fence then God comes looking for us.

God is not a monster waiting to hurt us or harm us.

As a loving parent God not only looks for us but also reprimands us when we are found.

This reprimanding may come in the form of someone telling us loudly to repent.

It may also come as a hug and a smile.

when we are reprimanded we shouldn;t become offended at one of God's children who's yellinga nd screaming.

Sometimes that yell could save our life.

Even offensive statements may be a blessing in disguise.

God works in so many ways!

God sometimes also places us in the fenced yard with others who we may feel are bullying us and bringing us down.

But remember that the bully never warns of danger.the bully usually influences us to jump that fence and lose our way.

the one who warns us by screaming repent could just be the very one who loves us.

It's odd i know.

and i'm not saying everyone who says repent really loves us.

i am saying that there are some who yell repent who really do only have our best interests at heart.

sometimes when we see people hopping the fence we care enough to try to help keep them in the fenced yard.

Have you ever head of a pat on the back for a job well done? or like dogs for exemple who learn mush quicker from rewards than from a betting..Yes? When a dog or human gets attacked their instincts is to become defensive; some will even "bite" back.

Do you have children? If I came out screaming at my 8 year old she would do either of two things..start crying and slam the door behind her or talk back/scream back and slam the door behind her. Now, do you really believe she's learned anything? Not a darn thing..

There are ways of making people listen on their own; and screaming repend bla bla bla is not the way unless you are looking for shut downs. It's human relashions guys.. nothing to do with the bible.

SoulsBreath wrote on 5/2/2006 10:50:47 AM :

Oh, and one more thing..

Their is "good" in all of us; speaking for myself, it almost feels like you guys bring out the worst in people with the "you will burn in hell" line.

There's another human relashion tip for you's. Focus on the good "bring out the good in people" and make it grow.  After reading some of your posts, I have felt 1 inch shorter at times and that's not right.  Rebelion(s/c) that's what you get out of that.

I have trouble with people preaching to me about things where I feel they should at "the very least" show good exemples of what they preach.

WWJD wrote on 5/2/2006 10:53:31 AM :
Yes, there is "good in us" when we compare ourselves to "bad" people. When you compare yourself to morality (ie, the 10 Commandments) we are ALL "not so good".
SoulsBreath wrote on 5/2/2006 10:57:52 AM :
Their are no bad people.. only bad circumstances.  Big Hug

I'm what I call a heinz 57 Christian. I really am of no set denomination and don't think GOD favours one group over another. I'm not evil nor am I a saint. I am a bit rough the edges but I honestly believe I am friends with Jesus and He accepts my inperfections. I will drink my beer and look at women in bikinis. I will swear when I hit my thumb or stub my toe. I never take The Lord's name in vain but can curse and swear with the best. I am just me but I'm good at being me.
WWJD wrote on 5/2/2006 5:56:28 PM :
God certainly doesn't favor one denomination over another! Very well stated!Jesus Christ didn't come to build a denomination; He came to save people OUT of religion and INTO fellowship with Himself :)

Hi Willie,

As a Christian, I'm sure you love and obey Jesus then, right? I say that taking many passages into consideration, such as 1 John 2:3-4, John 14:15, and John 14:23. Now out of curiousity, how do you justify living such a lifestyle when they are contrary to that what Jesus preached (ie: 1 Cor 5:11)?
Celeste wrote on 5/4/2006 6:08:22 AM :
Are you suggesting that God favors one group over another? Or that one's lifestyle does not permit you into Heaven? Are you out of your mind.

I haven't suggested it, the Bible states it. God chose Israel as His people to bring forth the Savior... they were His children and He was their God.  Jesus said, "If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross daily and follow Me. For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake, he is the one who will save it." [Luke 9:23-24]. It isn't our right to live according the way we want, but it is our choice through the free-will He's given us. But when we live according to the way He created us to be, in His image and under His authority, and by His blessing, and among His presence, we are then aligned rightly according to Him and His purpose.  God is the most beautiful, most wise, most loving being in the universe! He's created us, knows everything about us and all creation, and even our character and the possibile choices we might make. He can direct and guide me for my best interest which also glorifies Him. Why wouldn't you want Him to be in control?

If you want the most simple summary of the message of the Bible, its this:
"God is God and you are not."
