Who is funnier, Garfield or Heathcliff?

oneandonly wrote on 9/4/2006 9:43:39 AM :
Both have dry sarcastic humor. Both are mischievous. Both are over weight. Both are socially active. I get a chuckle out of both of these two felines.

My vote is on Garfield...Not only in his comics do you get him but you also get the hilarious antics of Jon, Odie (he rocks!) and Nermal (cutest kitten in the world)...Now I am now shooting down the other cartoon..It is just that Garfield has so much to offer.....

I'm a Peanuts man myself. Dilbert's good too.
oldman wrote on 9/4/2006 2:13:05 PM :
has to be garfield without a doubt
GlassHalfFull wrote on 9/4/2006 3:12:32 PM :

Have to go with Garfield... mostly because I have read most of garfield and hardly any heathcliff.

macdoug wrote on 9/4/2006 3:25:50 PM :
Neither.

Both are simulations of male egotism.
If I had my druthers, I would like lasagna morning noon and night and I would love to sleep in a lasagna pan.

Their voices are male stereotypes and if you speed them up you get the "Man Show", presided over by what's-his-name Kimmel. A completely dry and over baked waste of time.

Give me Sylvester, any time!

A stuttering coward. The manly coward. Willing to lose fur and face to the smallest of creatures. A cat whose dislike of Hitler, Hito, and mice or kagaroos dressed up like mice, has made his character an icon in serial cartoonism.

Long live Sylvester, the cat.

Macdoug curls up in his lasagna pan, pulls the blanket up over his head...and reads a Sylvester the Cat comic.

macdoug wrote on 9/4/2006 4:18:08 PM :
Thanks Sass!

Like Sylvester, I always seem to come out of every scrape on top.

Okay, missing fur and somewhat more humble...but there I am.

Chalk my name up for Sylvester!

I think those Garfield theatrical movie releases spoiled that character for me.

Both are funny at times, but I think; Garfield is funnier.

I think the last two posts on this topic have summed it up.

No exclamation marks, no quotes, no exhuberation....

Just a, "but I think; Garfield is funnier." comment.

HO, HUMMMMMMMM

Back in 1944, (Okay kids, cover your ears, you won't want to hear this), there was a cat called, Sylvester. He flew bombers against the Axis powers, he showed school kids how to spot the difference between the silhouette of a German aircraft and a British or American aircraft in the sky....

And guess what?

When he answered any question put to him he wasn't interested in, he didn't care what position it would put him in, in the social society of the time. He didn't need a fat belly or a safe place to sleep....

More often than not he called for his "Mother", before he lost fur, life and limb.

But yes he came back and vanquished the demon.

JUST A LITTLE DIFFERENT (don't you think) FROM THE PUNK-TYPE OF GARFIELD (the leach) and lasagna sucking two dimensional feline of today.

sass wrote on 9/16/2006 7:24:11 AM :

Yes it is very interesting...But sorry Darlin...Still rooting for my Garfield!!!!
