    Re: Computers......GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

It means that it will recover all your programs you had on your pc i think, mostly pretty sure.

lol not quite; you can;t recover programs from an application disk.

    Starry:

The application disk will install ... junk most likely.

Don't use it unless it's driver software for your video card/audio etc etc...in which case it'll tell you when you pop it in.

If it's a Dell Application disk... use it, as it'll update your hardware and software applications.

No, Jimminy; I build systems from the bottom up ; it's what I get paid to do.

You cannot recover installed programs using a system application disk.

Nonetheless, that wasn't sarry's question so I'll bow out now that I've tried to answer her original post above Smile [:)]

    Re: Computers......GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

A recovery disk is not an application disk, whcih we have been talking about on this thread.

For someone who claims to build systems, you overlooked the difference bewteen a recovery disk and an application disk??????

thank you both very much for your help...both responses helped me get things straight in my head.

Dan I think you are right about the application recovery disk installing junk. Your advice about the driver software is probably  what I will do. I did get over my fear of putting in the CD after reading your post...and yes it gives a list.....but now here is my dilemma

I am trying to reinstall my anti-virus protection....it tells me I am  missing the "application" for the program......but the application recovery disk doesn't list one

It gives me the options of either installing an application for

     1. anti-virus networking or 2.  installing the application for the original anti-virus that came with the computer....which I no longer have....I am trying to install "Kaspersky" on an HP if that helps..

any other info you can give me would be much appreciated.......and I am open to listen to anyone else  that might advise.

    Thank you so much.

    Re: Computers......GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

Kas antivir is a paid prduct and several limits are undertaken in the free version, as with most virus programs.

As well, the real time protection certainly isn;t as up to par with AntiVir PE....

If you'd consider scrapping Kaspersky for antivir PE you'dbe much better protected; I've run trials on both and now use Antivir PE...

    Try it out....

I wouldn't advise it unless I knew 100%; and I've used both, as well as several others and antivir pe has never missed a potential threat; it's lept my system clean for 2 years without a problem.

Antivir pe has beaten them all fro the past 2 years.
