Hi, I'm Richard, I'm 56 , 5'9", 1900lb, gray hair, glasses, Enjoy reading, poetry [Honest} (I've even written a couple about Fundy Park), walking, hiking , camping, nature, music, going out dancing, staying in and watching tv, movies, Good conversation. Not really into tv-sports or Reality Shows, I can take them or leave them. Trying to learning to cook. Have 1 cat left  & its love me, accept my cat. We are a package deal. Please understand that right now.She have been with me for 18 yrs. Its a case of "Semper Fidelis".


Also like antiques', yard sales, flea markets, art, paintings, Eschatology.In music I love Rock n' Roll, like country, celtic, new age and even some classical and Heavy Metal. I hate hip hop and Rap. I play guitar poorly and sing enen worse ( I stop when the cats start to Howl ). I'm a TV news Junkie, (Fox) like watching drama, comedy, Historical, educational, (I love learning). I enjoy the simple things in life and consider myself laid back and easy going (sometimes too much so I've been told). I'm into Meditation when I can find the time.

I love candle lit rooms, soft music and cuddling with that some one special. I believe that romance should not be limited to the bedroom. I enjoy going to sleep with a woman cradled in my arms and wakeing up next to a warm body ( the cats just don't cut it here). Walking hand in hand or arm in arm along streets , roads or parks and enjoying each others company and the world around us is one of my favourite things. Basically I'm a homebody. I don't go out with the boys, but occasionally do go out with the girls, (my closest friends and my references).

To me, family & my friends are everything. I'm a social drinker but my drink of choice is a nice cold Coke, (will drink water before Pepsi) . I still smoke, but keep trying to quit. I also love to laugh and make people laugh. I love helping people, if I can. I run a on line /off line Support Group for people dealing with relationship break ups and Depression. For 5 years I headed the local "Toughlove " chapter.

My children are all grown up and on their own. If you have children at home, it is no problem, but I am past that stage where I feel a need to bring more children into the world.


I don't work nights and have my weekends free.

I am not wealthy or even well off. Heck I'm struggling just to get by. If you're looking for some one who will be able to buy you expensive gifts or take you to far away places its not me , not that I wouldn't if I could. My ideal some one would not live too far away for pure economic reasons.

I travel by Bus. Like it to.


I'm on my feet all day at work and when I get home these old bones and joints are sore and tired. Osteoarthritis is at my door. During the week, I'm not the greatest at going out and "doing "some thing each night. Friday nights I crash.. and on Saturday and Sunday am up for just about anything.

I'm "grandfathered" with that Company and have been there over 27 years.

I was married for 27 years up until the year 2000. Getting our first computer changed my wife completly and within a year she was gone. Nuff said about that. Such is life. Pick up the pieces and move on. It took years for the pain to go away, but it did,, in time, and I only wish her well now. Between us we have 3 great children and 26 great years. She always was and still is a great Lady.

I am VERY, VERY, SHY, (at first) . However at times , I can be a riot, and am sure that in the past, I have started one or two ( Film at 11 ).

So.. meeting women is not easy. Now the internet is a different thing althogether. I have made some real close friends online,, in fact my closest friends are those that I've made online. Not every friendship developes into something, with some people you just don't click with, , others become like an younger or older sister, some become just great friends to last a lifetime while you hope that maybe one day you'll find that special someone that you've been looking for and that she will fill that void in your life. Yes I believe that you can find love a second or third time in your life ,, don't you?


So,,, if you're looking for someone to talk to , write to , or willing to explore our possibilities,, petite, small, thin, muscular, average or just a " FEW " pounds extra, why not drop me a line.

I am not a control freak nor do I want to be controled. Some things I may be able to change but not most. I can be taught and educated, but I will not be trained to fill your dreams. Also,,, please bare in mind that I have lived for the most part of 7 years alone, my apartment has that " lived in " look, or maybe "ground zero". I am not a "Slob", nor am I lazy. I do clean what is necessary and when necessary. For me , by myself, a spotless apartment is not high on my priority list. I know that changes would need to be made at some time.



What do men want ??

I'll tell you what I would like .. in no particular order..

A women that I am attracted to sexually, and sexually compatible with.

Some one I can talk to and carry on a conversation with,, be it life, politics, world events, whatever. Someone who knows the basic difference between a Honda Accord and the Keyoto Accord.

Some one to share the load and burdens of life. A partner.

Some one who accepts me as I am , and has no desire to turn me into what she wants.

Some one who will be there to challange me, encourage me and motivate me when required.

Some one who shares and is willing to experience some of my interests and passions.

Some one who is in it for the Long Run from the start and not just.."Hey,, we'll give it a try and if not,, so long"

Some one who's values will complement mine.

Some one I can trust and depend on.

Some one who will be there for me when I need her as I will be there for her.



Bear in mind that what we want / like is different from what we will settle for...



I am no ones Knight in Shinning Armor.., but yes I am a Knight, the armor is used, old, battered, dented and may need a little oil now and then. My horse,,, well it died some time ago and as a poor Knight, I must walk for a while. I can't afford a Squire or a Page. I have no Lordly Manor, but a simple hut to call my Sanctuary.

Good luck man....I'm in the same boat as you, and same age bracket. I find it difficult, if not impossible, to meet the right lady. The internet dating sites are nothing but a joke; no-one is ever as they seem. I've about given up on it now, but hopefully this will work for you.

Well, its nice everyone is supportive but i think some ladies need to apply..come on girls!!!!!

Actually, I think I have gone into Plenty of Fish and found it was basically the same people as the others. It seems these sites are all connected and you see the same faces in all of them. Thanks for the suggestion...may go in again just to be sure I have checked it out.

Paladin...I think you did a great job in your write up about yourself. You are very honest and sound like a very nice man with lots of interests and a kind heart....however there is one (1) sentence in there that may discourage some very nice women from meeting you. If you really want a woman's point of view on that sentence PM me and I will tell you. The rest of you can just guess which sentence it is..hehe!

I think you seem like a great catch. If i were 35+ and single, i would definitly contact you! Whats wrong with the ladies? Best place to meet a women, is the grocery store!!

Almost any place where women are,is " a good place to meet women".

The problem is getting up the nerve to approch them.That is the hardest part. Good old fear of rejection.

It's not that easy Bulert. I know exactly where Paladin is coming from; we're not teenagers anymore. At this age, we have usually been through a lot and are a lot more hesitant to make the same mistakes we made in the past; at least that is how I feel. If I have another relationship, I want it to be my last one and don't want to repeat past mistakes. That makes an old guy tentative, maybe it's not right, but that's the way it is, at least for me. Make sense?

I know someone who is looking, likes the same things you do but is maybe 10-15 pounds overweight maybe.  She's not shy and smokes as well.  Good looking woman a few years older but in shape.

Grocery store, church, bowling centers, even helping charities.......the list goes on and on. Walking a dog is A-1 even if you have to borrow some little ankle biter from one of your neighbours. I don't recomend family reunions or funerals.

A few pounds extra is nothing,,,its when they start to stretch it to 60-100 lbs and concider that a "few pounds extra" that is a problem..

if she is not shy,,tell her about me... 

 

10 to 15 lbs extra is nothing...
