    Facebook

Some people try to be careful with their personal information on the internet. They watch what they say and try not to say too much. Then they join Facebook and carelessly start putting all their personal info and pictures up. Even if they are careful a lot of times if somebody wants to find more information all they have to do is click on the person's friend list. What a treasure chest of personal information. Freinds and relatives are most likely less careful with your personal information than than you are. I can see Facebook becoming a spammers dream come true and a great place for crooks who do identify theft.

I totally agree with that Willi.

It bothers me to see all the young people putting so much about themselves on it.....talking about their parties, who they love (today) LOL........I'm afraid some of it will come back to haunt them and they'll be scrambling to do a bunch of deleting.

In a way I'm glad I got to read that. I was beginning to think I was only getting paranoid.

The privacy settings on one's Facebook account can easily disable one's profile from being viewed from those they don't want looking at their profiles.

Simply type my name in Facebook and when you come to the profile with my photo, try looking at my profile... you won't be able to unless I add you as a friend.

Applications cannot give access to outside individuals as only friends can send applications.

    Re: Facebook

    Have you tried it?

The best part is the ability to get in touch with people you haven't seen in forever, like elementary school.  If you're not interested in that, it's also a means of keeping up to date on all your friends' happenings and keeping others up to date on what's going on with you.  If all that doesn't interest you, yeah, Facebook isn't for you.

Yup, I'm listed in there but I don't play.  I suppose I could go look for my old schools and see who's all there.

    Re: Facebook

Of course, some things depend on how old you are. I left school squiddly-five years ago. If I was particularly interested in keeping in touch with them and vice versa, we'd still be in touch.

As for it being a way of keeping up to date....for me, friends should do that with direct contact - unless it's for things like a party invite or something of that sort.

So the former Master of the Rolls is correct, there's little in it for me.
