Yes male and females can be friends..be best friends actually...You are seeing it more and more now..Some of my best frineds I have are men....Because it is becoming more and more common it isn't as taboo...It is when something is forbidden and taboo people start to tempt themselves ....One thing in saying all this..Make sure if you have a partner that they are aware of the friendship and be open and honest about it

yes because my old fishing buddy was my xwife best friend ....no that is not the reason

yes it is possible for people of opposite sexes to be the best of friends without it becoming anything more than a platonic friendship

I totaly agree Sass. But we are getting grief  from her side, They think we are out for more than friendship wich is not true. We have known eachother for a month now and have become good friends. THATS IT JUST FRIENDS. I was just looking for different oppinions. and i agree to be honest with your partner. But what if your partner says he/she thinks that there is more even if you reassure them that nothing is going on ??

 well that is a typical reaction because most insecure people do not believe  that frienship , well true frienship has nothing to do with sex and love  ..it just company that share the same interest as you

My thoughts EXACTLY. I do not want to lose this new friend i have made and I will do everyting in my power to make people see and yes including my wife that we are just friends. But on the other hand i dont want to lose my wife either, I guess that is what i am wanting advice on

Well first and formost ...at that point you will have to respect your wife and her feelings on this..She is your partner in life..The one you have chosen to make happy and give yourself to...As much as I don't think it is right to make you choose...You will have to decide which is more important at this point..and only you can make thaat call

there is only one way out that i know off: take them both out at the same time (if they agree on it)    and act normally just like you would if you were alone with your friend , to show your wife that you are only friends,  you have to make your wife secure with the situation

Thank you sass. And i do not want to lose my wife just because i met a friend. But on the otherhand it hurts me to think she thinks that I am out for more than just friendship. WHY does the world have to be in such a uproar when someone else is happy. If I tell my friend that i have to back off I know it will break her heart. But I dont want to break my wifes heart either. If she had a guy friend  which  i know she does where she works  I have no problem with that. And if it was a gut friend i met  she would have not said anything.

i fully agree with you notme all parties should get together and hash it out.sounds like a lack of trust going on here and this very well could be just the start.if there is no trust in a relationship then there is a problem.by any chance do the other members of either family have friends of the opposite sex .

Well....approach it a different way with your wife then...take the "friend " out of equation..Talk to your wife and find out if she is happy with you in general...sometimes over the course of our relationships we start to take the lil things that make us secure and happy for grantit...and we lose touch with the way we were in the begining..Ask your wife if there is a way you can make her feel more loved and confident as a couple..It may not have to do with not trusting you..It may have to do with someone else getting something from you that she used to get and feels is hers..What I have said can not just be directed to the woman...a man sometimes can feel this too..

Keep in mind i watch to much Dr Phil...and i am the last person that should be giving anyone advice since I am getting seperated..lol...so take my advice lightly..lol

 in other words talk about it first to your wife  and ask her what is wrong >>>

in my marriage both sides have friends of the opposite sex and have no problems with it and i would never think of sussopecting my wife of doing anything outside of our marriage and would never consider asking her to give up any of her friends as far as i am concerned this boils down to a lack of trust and here is a little question does the other member of this longtime relationship have any friends of the opposite sex
