Re: Poll: To Tip or not to Tip...That is the question
OK, here's my take on tipping.
I most always tip, whever I can afford and I make sure the waitress/er gets it directly and I always say something, either compliment the service and food, or pick something apart. For example.... "I drank the coffee, but lordy it was cold....just telling you that so the next customers don't get cold coffee."

Re: Poll: To Tip or not to Tip...That is the question
Ohhhh we were supposed to comment, No one asked for a comment 8) If you go beyond what your "job" entails you get a tip from me. You can make mistakes if you acknowledge and fix them (or even just apologize and fixe them when they are pointed out. How busy / full it is gets factored in as well. I've tipped 0% and I've tipped above 50% (on a bill over $100 dollars, i was gainfully employed and she was good and it was her first night) Get the tables order right, ask and adhere to "do you want it all together or can I bring each out as it's ready" check back as regularly as possible, (if it's busy then yeah my drink can get empty, also if it's really dead thats okay you as you are probably taking care of some "business" that needs taken care of). The waitress that got the 50% tip got the drink order wrong, but it was busy, she realized it herself after a few minutes and fixed it. everything else went very well and she was pleasant and engaging my party and I when she had the chance. I didn't know she was new, at the end of the night I asked to see her manager, she got very apologetic and asked what she did wrong and how she could make it better, I said it's okay I just want to see the manager please. They both came over and I said " I want you to know this staff member did an excellent job" plus there was some more flowery words. She was like "thats awesome this was her first night"

Re: Poll: To Tip or not to Tip...That is the question
So, how smokin' hot was she zymry?
I had this waitress once, she was what you would call a "career waitress" in a good restaurant. She must have been 60, and she was the best ever. She must have been doing it a long time. She was able to (and I don't know how) both always be there and yet, never interrupt. Everything was done on time, when it should have, no waits, glasses always full, yet, I never felt like she was there. Some waiters/waitresses are awful friendly and nice and helpful, but it seems that every time they show up at the table, it's a brusque interruption in which they shout out "is everything alright", interrupting conversations or whatever is happening at the table. Not this lady. She would sidle up to the table, do what needed to be done, say what needed to be said, and everything seemed to flow very well. We were left never wanting anything. I think she made herself $25 or $30 tip, but I don't remember the cost of the bill, so I don't know the percentage. It still wouldn't compare to zymry's tip, as the bill was probably around the same price as his.
Otherwise I regularly tip 15% to 20%, unless service was remarkably bad.

Re: Poll: To Tip or not to Tip...That is the question
She was .. I dunno .. I suppose about average for what you see in waitresses. She was pretty, it was a double date so really wasn't paying that close attention. If you really want me to use a number I'd say ummm 7 girl next door trying to look prettier than she needs to and if she hadn't been trying would probably be naturally better looking just for being more real *shrug* I'm not good at that kind of rating. I knows what I like but it's hard to quantify with numbers, plus I am an eye man and I didn't get a chance to look closely at hers.

You oughta be careful there, zymry or someone might put you on that show, Moment of truth.....<--- is that the name of it? You guys mentioned it in here last week. I got to see it last night. Some kinda hard to watch! I would NEVER go on that show for all the money in the world. One thing I always thought was your thoughts are the only thing you really own.

Re: Poll: To Tip or not to Tip...That is the question
I'm more or less an open book when it comes to that kind of thing. My wife knows I look, my friends know I look. They also know what the agreed upon "line" is. I'ld never agree to go on that show though the few parts of me that are mostly private aren't for general consumption at least not for 500 grand. I will admit like everyone I have a price. To willingly break a heart 500k doesn't even come close. Dictator of the world pretty much. Not because I think the secrets are worth it to anyone else but because that is what she means to me

Sometimes if you dont get the smile, could be because that women has been up since 4 am, served 500 other people, has not had a ciggarette in six hours, and it serving ignorant assholes all day, without any respect...hmm,,leave the quarter, just do it...
