A Great recipe for home made Weed Killer!

recipe for weed killer that is harmless to the rest of us! It'll kill any greenery that it touches, though, so use sparingly. 4 cups vinegar (pickling is best)
    1/2 cup salt
    2 tsp dish soap

Put in a spray bottle and spray away!

    HI

I use this receipe without the soap! If you do use soap, make sure it is phosphate free.

I got an ugly patch of weed that seems to be spreading year to year.  Something tells me it's going to be sucking down some vinegar and salt tonight...

Or use gatorade.. It's got what plants crave ... electrolytes and stuff.

(sorry it's from the movie idiocracy, all the plants are dying because instead of water the people give them gatorade)

I loved Idiocracy!  Hilariously satirical.  I loved how everyone would spout out the phrase "It's got electrolytes" anytime anyone mentioned gatorade, like pre-programmed robots.

Sadly I can see that future coming to pass.

Distilled water will also work on weeds. A little bit expensive, but effective in the long run.

Distilled water?  How can that work?  It's just water minus its dissolved solutes. I can see that in a bath of distilled water, the plants would absorb and absorb the water causing the vacuols to burst.  But the water would just seep into the ground wouldn't it?

Distilled water will unballance the plant (by osmosis) and make it dry up. It would take a good volume to make this work.

Re: A Great recipe for home made Weed Killer!

Actually, osmosis would make distilled water enter the plant, rather than drying it up.  But it may absorb so much as to have the plant cells burst.  But the plant would really have to bathe in the water...

If I remember my chemistry and botany, it should explode because it would not be able to withstand the pressure. Plants don't have a protective layer around the cells like human.

    Hmm [^o)]
