a little about how society had ruined teen girls and women..no wonder women say " am i fat?"

The media affects what we believe. It has given men and women alike the idea that women should look a certain way to be considered desirable. I mean large breasted, small waist, perfect hips, slim figure, verge on anorexic. I think that about explains it. I am personally sick of being looked down upon for not fitting that image. In my high school, you see most girls in tight clothes, with their thongs pulled above their pants, with fuzzy purses on their skinny arms. “ Wow” is what the guys say.

But for girls like me “ above a size 3” are put through hell. I stand at 5’10 and I am around a size twelve. I don’t get made fun of much because my height makes up for it, but some girls get tormented to the verge of crying by boys at my school. I do not see where it is right to consider a girl in a size ten-fourteen fat. What is wrong with the world? Why is a women’s physical appearance so significant to how we portray them as people. Does a women’s intelligence mean nothing? It makes me sick the way women think they have to look a certain way to be beautiful!

And don’t even let me start on these stores. An extra large had a 34-36 bust and a 32 waist in a lot of cases. WHERE HAVE YOU EVER SEEN A XL GIRL WITH A 31 INCHE WAIST! ( caps emphasize my rage  ; )   )

I am just wondering does anyone else see the insanity! I have a question for guys… What exactly do you see in women? I mean they say “ looks aren’t everything” but hey, guys are not checking out that 230 lb teen next to her 120 lb friend.

This all started when a friend and I went to the mall and she left CRYING because she fit in NOTHING! I mean she is not fat, yet she had to go to the plus size store. I decided to leave to because it would have been mean to stay. I just hope all women know they are beautiful exactly as they are. You don’t need diets, or others to tell you what to be. You are wonderful generous, unique creatures, and don’t let anyone belittle you.

Why do the girls all try to look like Madonna, get the same peircings, get the same tatoos, look, act, and think all the same. The answer is to express their indivuality. In a world of mass production I feal a bit sad that people, mostly women, feal like they have to look, act, and think a certain way. A surgically enhanced girl with her pants half down and her red thong proudly on display with her cell phone glued to the side of her head is nice to look at but it just doesn't cut my cake. I need a girl with a brain, a sence of humour, cooking skills, etc. I much more appreciate a girl who accepts herself for who she is rather than who she wants to look like.

Re: a little about how society had ruined teen girls and women..no wonder women say " am i fat?"

Funny, with all the information we have today - to promote the idea that there is within each of us the ability to inspire those around us by living a life that is more outward focused than inward focused girls/women are still mean to each other. By being selfless, we can do our part to make the world a better place, spreading love, and hope through our daily actions. It is not only by what we say but also more importantly by the life that we live out that shows what each of us is made of.

However, what happen s in reality is not all the nice things I mentioned.

I think one of the major problems with girls/females is Media. The way mean girls are represented in the media". You ever notice how mean girls are usually pretty, thin, rich upper class (and if they are not they pretend to be), living in mansion in the suburbs, while they live in a Trailer Parks, attending well-funded schools or private schools. They've got expensive clothes, cell phones, cars and the jock boyfriend or two or three. And while there is nothing wrong with any of those things the portrayal is negative.

But what is despicable is the way in which the media has exploded our air waves with mean girls TV show and movies books, portraying girls as equally as - if not more - aggressive than boys, in their own conniving and manipulative way. YUCK!

Also girls/women have a lot of anxiety about changes in the social system of our culture, which is driving the “mean girl" phenomenon. The basic fallacy of so many of the movies on this topic is that there's something inherent in femaleness that creates these kinds of (abusive) behaviors. No, ladies you either want to be or not…is the question.

The second problem now is that people with "poor" self-esteem often rely on how they are doing in the present to determine how they feel about themselves.  They lack the ability to assess themselves accurately and still are not able to accept others unconditionally. They need positive external experiences to counteract the negative feelings and thoughts that constantly plague them. Even then, the good feeling (from a good grade, etc.) can be temporary. Sadly, they are not equipped with the tools that would enable "Them" to realistically, acknowledge their own strengths, never mind someone else's and so they are limited.

Know this: "we are all worthwhile without conditions or reservations. so wether you are big or small, fat or thin, black asian or white, rich or poor, bookworm or not, you are somebody special.

So i suppose your a fa chick? because only fat girls say " it doesn't matter" WHen i am in the malls and i see a very cubby tenn girl next to a normal friend i laugh as they are in the little stores..why does she even bother? If girls want to be pretty, then loose weight. I mean, you may not like society but it is the way it is...get use to it
