    Fat Joe To The Rescue

I decided today was a nice day to go to the food bank. I went to the Codiac Transit site and planned which busses to take, where to transfer, and when they arrived. All was well. I have a new packsack so the carrying effort would be at a minimal. I put on my coat and checked my pockets for all the loose change I usually carry. OMG, I realized, I only have $3.50 and the trip is $4.00. I'm too poor to go to the food bank. As I was rolling up 50 pennies from my retirement/emergency/rainy day bank Fat Joe called to see what I was up to. He gave me a lift to the food bank and back. People say that picking up pennies is lucky. By counting and rolling them I was still there to answer the phone. Thanks Fat Joe.

Yup, pennies are lucky and you prooved it today, Willi.

Ya made me think though with this post.  Too poor to go to the food bank?  That's hitting er pretty low isn't it!

I don't understand though, your need to use the food bank.  Didn't you post that you work....like as in have a job somewhere?

I know the food bank is used, too, by the working poor.  Is that what you're saying?  I also know this isn't a touchy subject cuz I've read some of your posts before where you mentioned the food bank.  This time I paid attention.  What's up?

I haven't worked for seven years. I had some tables at the flea market but never made any money at it, only had fun doing it. What a fealing being 50 cents short of the bus with payday being only one day away.

The flea market was an adventure. It took a year and a half hauling my stuff there every Wednesday and Thursday, one packsack at a time. When it closed I had a week to move the equilivent of six carloads home. At least I get a bit of exercise here by jumping (actually stepping) over stuff everywhere I go.

I wonder about flea markets.  My sister and hubby did them and worked so hard for almost nothing.  Does anyone ever make anything at them?

I never did but I always had cash flowing throughout the month til I got my monthly cheque and the bills had to be paid. I also had something to do almost every day. Monday I did bookwork. Tuesday I planned what to take to the market on Wednesday and packed up. Wednesday I pedalled to the market to rearange the merchantdise. Thursdays I ordered new stock. Friday I tried to ballance my inventory. Saturday I planned what to bring on Sunday and packed it up. Sunday I went to the marked and hoped to become rich. I was king of my empire.

hahaha I think you are still King of the Empire!

Have you ever thought of making jewellery?  I know that homemade jewellery is the in thing right now......different unique designs.  The kids are all into uniqueness and young ladies too I might add.  I've noticed that anywhere a little jewellery stand is set up, the women STOP.

I have four sets of beeded earrings Mrs W made. They took her about three hours a set to make. They are hard to sell even for $5.00 a pair.

Re: Fat Joe To The Rescue

How much are they really worth? She must have started asking more than that, given the time she put into making them. Please ask her what she'd like to have for them, and let me know. My oldest really wants her ears pierced, and I'm tired of fighting with her about it, so I'm considering giving in. It would be nice if I had a really special pair to give her to start off with. Smile [:)]

Re: Fat Joe To The Rescue

She got caught up in one of those make at home scams where they sell you the supplies then claim to buy the finished product back. They never buy the stuff back. She kept making the earrings because she hoonestly enjoyed it not to get rich quick. She wants $5.00 a pair, ears not included. These are quite nice earrings. I have some murano glass ones from Peru here somewhere I sell for $10.00 a pair or 2/$15.00 but I don't know where they are.
