    Health Drink - Monavie

Has anyone here tried taking Monavie?  I'm just wondering what kind of results others have had. My father is taking it daily (he's diabetic) and his sugar level is now the lowest it has been since he found out that he was diabetic which was probably 10 years ago.  I have read some of the benefits on other websites but just curious about people in the Moncton area.

Monavie has the same berries as the Goji juice along with 18 other berries.  I have heard a few people mention it has help with weight loss, high blood presure, cholesterol, joint pain, migranges and some others.

Vemma beats them all! Vemma has an ORAC value of 3,424 compared to Mona Vie’s ORAC value of 735. The proof "is in the bottle" http://www.tylerandmimiford.com/wp-content/uploads//2008/01/monavie.pdf

Mona Vie looks like a bottle of wine to me.

Wikipedia is great.  About ORAC values:

"Drawbacks of this method are: 1)free radicals which damage fluorescein molecule are not identified; 2)the nature of the damaging reaction is not characterized; and 3) there is no evidence that free radical is involved in this reaction. Moreover, the relationship between ORAC values and the health benefit has not been established."

    More:

"Recently, a number of health food companies have capitalized on the ORAC rating, with dozens selling concentrated supplements that they claim to be "the number one ORAC product". Most of these values have never been published in the scientific literature so are difficult to evaluate. It is not known whether such values are accurate or how absorbable and functional these concentrated antioxidants are in the human body.

There have been some efforts to raise the credibility of ORAC values. ORACWATCH (www.oracwatch.org) is issuing a seal showing that the claimed ORAC value has been evaluated by their facility."

Listen, I am not here to knock anymore trying to make a buck. Here's what I am saying read the labels first and then decide if you want to drink it. as far as I know those so called energy drinks should be consumed ONE per day. Ahhh...I think its a scheme that most are not aware of, the health risks. They are reports of teenagers dying from drinking too many of those drinks. So all I am saying is read before you drink.

I don't think drinks like Mona Vie and whatever that other one was are the same as those you are referring to.  I think you are referring to typical "Energy drinks", which are basically composed of sugar water and a whack of caffeine.  Mona Vie and other such drinks are concentrated fruit drinks touted as anti-oxidant powerhouses which will ward off disease, cancer etc.  I don't know this for a fact, but I don't think they have caffeine in them.  Correct me if I'm wrong.

Did I say caffeine?  Sorry, I meant Guarana Extract.

Has anyone else ever noticed that so called "health foods" from the "organic" products sections never have sugar or glucose-fructose as an ingredient?  Yet, they almost all have "Evaporated cane juice".  What's also amazing is that the ingredients list never includes "Dihydrogen Monoxide", but do sometimes contain water.

I see what you did there. You're saying just because they don't say they have something in words we use commonly/understand doesn't mean those things aren't present under different terminology, and perhaps even going so far as to suggest that while they aren't "lying" to us by most conventional standards there is perhaps some obsfucation going on ?

When we buy things if we are concerned about their content we need to be wily and aware because packagers, labellers and corporations are ? Wait what ?

Well damn then I guess I'll have to say it.

If you are concerned about what is in the food you buy then you will have to be wily and informed because corporations and those that work for them will try to obsfucate.
