Yes, I said I "know", I was trying to get my point across, I obviously didn't run out and hunt the puppy mill breeder down to see for myself that it was in fact that....however, what kind of breeder is going to put their dogs in a pet store?? And from what the employee was saying a puppy mill is exactly where the dogs are coming from. This isnt the first time I have heard such things from the pets unlimited chain either, I have friends who have purchased sick puppies there which also brings about the puppy mill conditions...what responsible breeder sends sick puppies to the pet store?
Anyways, I put my comment on here to bring awareness to others who may have been considering a puppy from a pet store...not to cause a fight. I just think something needs to be done for these poor dogs in general.
It's late I'm a bit punchy I'll be sorry tomorrow
1)Ok, I was trying to make a point, I am upset that dogs are being

So make your point, state fact as fact, suspicion as suspicion. You said you knew something when in fact you didn't. In point of fact saying you KNOW they are buying from puppy mills could be considered LIBEL. Now I am just a hot head on a message board but better you learn that lesson from me than a team of lawyers.
2) however, what kind of breeder is going to put their dogs in a pet store??
The kind that isn't selling enough puppies by word of mouth, the kind that doesn't mind working on consignment sales with a pet store, the kind who doesn't want the overhead of looking after the animals just facilitating their production ?
3)This isnt the first time I have heard such things from the pets unlimited chain either,
Nor I and just as many have been full of hyperbole and unsubstantiated claims. I don't deny that it happens, nor do I condone that it does. To quote some of the best writing out there however "It doesn't matter what I know it only matters what I can prove" (although in that case the speaker actually only suspected the truth though with perhaps a bit more firmness than you or I have about pets unlimited)
4) And from what the employee was saying a puppy mill is exactly where the dogs are coming from
"She said that a lot of people have been asking that question since the Oprah special on puppy mills and that I should not worry"
"She said that they aren't allowed
to say where the dogs come from, but that her manager had visited the
facility and said that it was a clean place where they do not force the
dogs to breed"
She said that you shouldn't worry, the animals came from a clean place and that the dogs were not forced to breed. So you think she was lying or her manager lied to her ? What gave you that impression ?
5) I have friends who have purchased sick puppies there which also brings about the puppy mill conditions
This statement confuses me, the fact that pets unlimited sells sick puppies makes puppy mill conditions.... do what exactly. I can't bridge the gap between puppies being sick at the pet store and puppy mills, are you saying they were sick before they got there ? If so then the pet store should put them down, send them back, make them better, and/or notify the authorities if necessary whichever makes the most sense based on cost and prior experience with said distributor.
6) what responsible breeder sends sick puppies to the pet store?
The kind that thinks they'll get better, that the pet store (or the new owner) will send them to a vet, that doesn't want that dog infecting the other dogs they have
7) I just think something needs to be done for these poor dogs in
general.
It does, really and truly. The best way to accomplish that is with FACTS and PROOF not with hyperbole, suspicions, and libelous statements. For each individual dog sold by pets unlimited, that dog gets a better home, for the overall benefits of dogs it would be better if no dogs were sold so demand went down and if the breeder(s) are as bad as you suspect they went out of business. The best situation would be for someone to investigate this completely and then make available their findings to the public and the proper authorities.
