    Re: Anyone looking to unionize

sure  but usually all unions works with the companies did u ever notice that strikes are always in the low period and the wage increase you get after the strike never covers for the wages lost ..

the only people that really benefit from the unions are the companies , union rep , and the lazy ones that the unions saves their sorry ass  ........

but if people would stick together and fight both the union and the oppurtunist employers  we would not need to work for peanuts and slavery

    Sounds like management talking.

Well, I am deffinatly not managment. I reall didnt want to start this, but its a matter of waking up, kinda like growing up. You dont need that "person" watching the company, wasting valuable time. Think about it, instead of people talking about how unions could be better, how they are typin gon the computer saying how that are better, you can notice the pattern. such a waste of time, complaining and whining about how their compnay should be better to its employees. Maby these workers are to lazy to ask, or even to shy to talk to HR. HR, if you dont know, is human resources, and is there tohelp you. And thinking unions are good for the company, thats sad, having the public see on the news "this company's workers are on strike" kinda sets a bad impression. And as i said earlier, if you dont like it, you do have the option on exercising your ability to quit.

As i said, this is only my opinion, so i really dont mean to hurt anyones feelings, just sharing what some people want to hear.

    Re: Anyone looking to unionize

hey i think you should be looking at a place right here in moncton this company is heritage management these people run a bunch of buildings which are the following marven's, heritage court fairlanes and a bunch of other place as well. They treat their workers like crap and don't give much money for wages i was working their at the end of the month of Jan 2008 and we left their because we had some issues and had ask for a meeting the supervisor just wanted one on one meeting with us and when we said no he had told us to give our keys in and then we had all left when the operations manager named pierre gallant talk to us he had a meeting with lthe next day called us and told that what we did was irresponsible and told me that i being terminated from my position effective immediatley which is bullshit but they don't want to listen to us. there is so much stuff going here that is kind of like walmart in the way the do things.

they can't give you higher wages all the pay is $7.50 an hour to start and after that you basically get nothing but that after three months you get .25 and another .25 cents after 9 months and than you are cut off nothing else even if the minium wages going up by anything you stay at that and that is all you are going to be making their was a guy working there for nine years and all he was making $9.12 an hour. nothing else was ever offer to him they had .10 cents a year but they got rid of that  and the health benefits suck major ass they were 65.00 every two weeks takeing off your pay which equals to 130.00 a month for your health benefits and then in june of 2007 that had went to 81.00 dollars every two weeks which is 162.00 dollars a month. the company they deal with is great west life but here the thing you can get a cheaper price if go to the company yourself and than in jan the rates had went up again. the boss is dick carpenter he can't give his workers a raise but he can other building and buy fucking streets and can't give us a raise that is a bunch of crap he is now trying to get the court house in moncton against some other contracts i hope doesn't get this contract he sucks and i hope one day he gets caught for all the crap he is putting his workers through.

if you have any questions just ask i will tell.

    Re: Anyone looking to unionize

So why did you stay and not go to another job? I get the whole, we only got .25 raise and minimum wage got higher but our wages didn't etc... But you are not forced to stay at a job. You don't like the wages, leave and find something else.

The strike that is going on with the janitors and stuff, I don't agree with it at all. You don't like the pay, go find something else, that's it. There should be NO demands on a raise, and employers shouldn't be forced to give one out. You accept the position as is but once your there long enough, you want more than what was offered to you? I never got why people get all pissy when they are not given a raise, health benefits etc...

Just waiting till it's all over.

union are just good to grease the palms of their head ones

everytime a union went on strike for wages the workersended up getting less than they demanded.

you see if the union want let say 15%raise andthecompany want to give 14%  the unin will refuseit  then it will go to arbitration andit will settle  at 5%   very strange  union are only an hy pocrite way for thecompanies to ripp off  the workers

A Union for Wal-Mart here seems like a great idea.

Only thingit might accomplish is to drive them out of town, and sadly, put a lot of people out of work.

To say nothing of slowing down production by wanting safety standards improved. I mean, what's the loss of a finger or two or paralysis after an industrial accident compared to speeding up production.....Wink [;)]

This is why you need Unions.  For anyone that says Union's have outlived their ussefullness, do you really believe that the companies and the goverment wouldn't take what you have if the Union's weren't around?

If you're not happy with your Union leaders, get involved and change it.  It's easier to make changes from the inside than it is from the outside.
