Terrorists? Not Us... Say Muslims
By Alan Caruba December 27, 2007
In lieu of the assassination of Pakistan’s Benazir Bhutto, it is necessary once again for those in the West to gain some insight into the culture of Islam and, in particular, of the Middle East. What can be easily observed is the abject refusal to take any responsibility for anything done in the name of Islam.
While the memory of September 11, 2001 recedes for Americans, our British cousins have been subjected to a number of Islamic terrorist acts since then. On July 7, 2005, there were four separate suicide bombings in London that killed 56 people and injured 700. More recently, on June 30, 2007, there was the attack on the Glasgow International Airport in Scotland.
On December 27th I received an email from the London School of Islamics with a text by Iftkhar Ahmad titled “Terrorist V Terrorism.” It is a window into the mind of Muslims living in the United Kingdom.
“The recent events have strengthened the prejudiced belief that ‘Islam is the religion of the sword”, said Ahmad who asserted that, “Islamophobia is not only a cause of discrimination against Muslims, but also an open threat to world peace.” The peace of the Middle East has once again been put in jeopardy by the instability of Pakistan. One might conclude that American and British troops are in Afghanistan because of an open threat to world peace posed by al Qaeda and the spread of Islamism, but not Ahmad.
So far as he was concerned “There is not a single day when Islam and Muslims are not attacked by the mainstream news media outlets.” Apparently, reporting on Muslim atrocities around the world constitutes an attack. It is worth noting at this point that no Muslim community in America has suffered an attack and I cannot recall any reports of comparable attacks in England. Who then is afraid of another suicide bombing? It is Americans and British citizens who are not Muslim.
With considerable irony, on December 13, a Federal judge in Miami declared a mistrial after a jury failed to reach a verdict in the trial of six men accused in 2006 of plotting to bomb the Sears Tower in Chicago and several other government buildings. A seventh suspect was acquitted in what analysts describe as a setback for the US government’s domestic counterterrorism program. Jury selection for a retrial of the other six suspects will start next month. The group was described as being “inspired” by al Qaeda. A new trial will try to find a jury that will look at the overwhelming proof of their intentions.
Meanwhile, in England, according to Ahmad, “There is an undeclared World War III going on in the name of (the) War on Terrorism. The fact of the matter is that Islam is all peace and hence this war is (a) war of terrorism and not against terrorism.” A person has to be seriously deluded or making a serious effort to delude others to conclude that, “Islam is all peace.” Just consider the victims of Islamist attacks from Bali to London to New York, to name just a few places where Jihadists have killed people who were not at war with them.
Ahmad, like a great number of Middle Eastern Muslims is easily offended by anything. He cited that uniforms of the Milan Italy soccer team whose uniforms sport “Crusader-Style red crosses which is offensive to Muslims.” In his view, the crosses “symbolized ‘western racist superiority over Islam.” He also railed against the “republication of Danish cartoons (that) clearly shows the prevalent ignorance about Islam.” It is hard to be ignorant of the many Islamist terror attacks in recent years.
Ahmad concluded that, “It is the fundamental duty of Muslims settled in the west to raise awareness of spirit and core of Islam.” I think the terrorist attacks have done that.
Ahmad was far from finished in his diatribe. He attacked the UK’s National Curriculum in which “There is no mention of (the) Muslim contribution in the world.” And what might that be, given the centuries of oppression that have existed wherever Islam is the dominant religion. These days, Arab Christians are literally fleeing for their lives from Iraq and other nations where they are under constant attack, including murder.
Ahmad concluded with the proposal that, in “those state schools (in England) where Muslim pupils are in majority may be designated as Muslim Community Schools, managed and controlled by Muslim Educational Trusts and Charities.”
There’s a Yiddish word for this. It’s called chutzpah!
The Islamists in England, throughout Europe, and here in America do not lack for nerve. Indeed, they are carrying out a process by which Islam has imposed its will wherever the Muslim community has achieved a near majority or majority status.
It is reflects the intention of Islam to subjugate any nation in which Muslims gain a population foothold. Where Islam is the dominant religion, it also expects to be the law of the land, rejecting a secular approach to government. This is its threat to Western nations whose tradition of tolerance permits juries to deadlock over trials of terrorists, whose loss commitment to their own religious beliefs allows the nation to be undermined by claims of prejudice.
Islam was never the religion of England, though the schism between Catholics and Protestants had its bloody chapters. The English by any definition are Christians. If Ahmad and his deceptions succeed, they may yet see their nation fall into the pit of ignorance, corruption, and oppression that defines Muslim nations to this day.

Islamic radicals are attacking democracy and liberty everywhere. Their aim is to bring Jihad to America, Canada, Europe, Lebanon, Israel—every country on earth...and they fully intend to destroy us...unless we stop them NOW!
" Because they hate " by Brigitte Gabriel
|
War has been declared on Christians, Jews, non-Muslims and secularists worldwide by Islamic extremists...simply because we are infidels according to their belief. As Islamic fundamentalism spreads its tentacles worldwide, it is crucial for the people of the Western world to understand the danger, know what to expect, and know what to do about it.
Threats and realities of forced conversions to Islam, beheadings, torture and murder are quickly becoming commonplace. They’re rarely mentioned in the news and when they are, it’s with a disclaimer…the word “insurgent” has replaced the truth of “terrorists.”
Political correctness is killing us.
We are in for the fight of our lives. That we have not yet had another terrorist attack in the United States is remarkable, but it will happen. Al Queda keeps its promises.
How do I know this? I was born in Lebanon and raised as a Christian. When the Lebanese Civil War broke out, our family, and our Maronite community came under vicious attack by Islamic extremists. They promised to destroy us, and as you know from the recent war in Lebanon, the country is now nearly Islamic.
I was nearly killed by a mortar. Our home was destroyed. We lived in a bomb shelter for seven years. Most of my childhood friends were killed. That’s how I know.
We must make the connection between individual safety and a strong national defense, increase civic preparation and political responsibility, and train all Americans to become defenders of our community safety and national security.

"All that is required for evil to triumph is for a few good men to do nothing." Edmund Burke |
Anguish struck the citizens of the United States of America on 9/11 as a handful of hateful men murdered nearly 3,000 innocent people. A heavy pall of grief covered our nation. Many of us wondered if we'd ever laugh again. But 9/11 wasn't the only act of terrorism. Bali, London, Madrid, Jerusalem...the list goes on and on. Yet the West does not fully realize the bloodthirsty intentions of the menace of fundamental Islam. This enemy -- is relentless. It is determined.
|
Why Does Our Struggle Matter? It Matters Because... |
If we don't win the war against Islamofascism other issues won't matter at all. We won't have an economy to worry about. We won't have equal rights for all. We won't have our cherished freedom. And we will live under Sharia Law.
The enemy loves death -- far more than we love life.
The enemy uses children as human bombs, mothers as suicide bombers, men driven by the glory of death and the promise of eternal sexual bliss in heaven...and martyrdom on earth. This is the enemy reality: murder and death of "infidels" by any means for the glory of Allah.

Since then, at an uncertain hour, That agony returns; And till my ghastly tale is told, This heart within me burns.
I pass, like night, from land to land; I have strange power of speech; That moment that his face I see, I know the man that must hear me: To him my tale I teach.

Canadian Islamic Congress offended by Truth
Canadian Mark Steyn, author of America Alone,is under investigation by at least 3 Canadian Human Rights Tribunals because of complaints from the Canadian Islamic Congress about an excerpt from the book that was published in the Canadian journal Maclean’s. “The article,” the CIC claims, “subjects Canadian Muslims to hatred and contempt,” and was “flagrantly Islamophobic.” It " Offends " them.
The "plaintiffs" are not complaining that the article is false, or libellous, or seditious, for all of which there would be appropriate legal remedy. Their complaint is essentially emotional: it "offended" them.
This is an important book for Free Thinkers who don’t need to read it—and ignored by those who should.
To be sure, the article was pretty strong stuff. Here’s a bit of it: “There are signs that Allah will grant Islam victory in Europe -- without swords, without guns, without conquests. The fifty million Muslims of Europe will turn it into a Muslim continent within a few decades.” Even worse, it goes on to say: “Just look at the development within Europe, where the number of Muslims is expanding like mosquitoes. Every Western woman in the EU is producing an average of 1.4 children. Every Muslim woman in the same countries is producing 3.5 children.”
“A Muslim continent”! “The number of Muslims is expanding like mosquitoes”! No wonder the CIC was upset. And not just the CIC: writer Jim Henley, whose articles have appeared in The New Republic and The American Spectator Online, quoted the “mosquitoes” line and called Steyn a “racist.” There were just two problems: The “Muslim continent” statement is not only factual, it’s stated in words no one can characterize as inflammatory. (Also, it’s been said by Libya’s strongman Muammar Qaddafi). Second, “The number of Muslims is expanding like mosquitoes” was not Steyn’s phrase. He was quoting Mullah Krekar, a jihadist who currently resides in Norway, although officials have been trying for years to get him out of the country..
And that sums up the problem with the Canadian human rights commissions’ action against Steyn: he was simply reporting on contemporary European reality. It was not Mark Steyn, but Algerian leader Houari Boumédienne who said at the United Nations in 1974: “One day, millions of men will leave the Southern Hemisphere to go to the Northern Hemisphere. And they will not go there as friends. Because they will go there to conquer it. And they will conquer it with their sons. The wombs of our women will give us victory.” Those who want to silence Steyn want to suppress facts and limit free speech.
It was not Steyn who said that “Islam will return to Europe as a conqueror and victor,” and that “the conquest this time will not be by the sword but by preaching and ideology.” That was Al-Jazeera’s Sheikh Yusuf Al-Qaradhawi, who is widely hailed as a moderate reformer in the West. Did Steyn say that Muslims “will control the land of the Vatican; we will control Rome and introduce Islam in it”? Nope. That one comes from a Saudi Sheikh, Muhammad bin Abd Al-Rahman Al-‘Arifi, imam of the mosque of King Fahd Defense Academy.
The Canadian Human Rights Commission is putting itself in the peculiar position of penalizing those non-Muslims who report on such statements, as if it is somehow an act encouraging “hatred and contempt” to reveal the unpleasant reality that comprises mainstream Islamic rhetoric today. There is no indication that the CHRC has done a thing to investigate the possibility that some Muslims in Canada might hold the views of Mullah Krekar, Qaddafi, Boumédienne, Qaradhawi and Sheikh Muhammad. When the CIC’s President Mohamed Elmasry said in 2004 that all Israelis over age eighteen were legitimate targets, the CHRC took no action. But Elmasry, you see, is part of a protected victim class.
Actions like the one against Steyn threaten the foundation of free society. Once you declare one group off-limits for critical examination, once you declare that these people -- whoever they may be -- must at all costs not be offended, then you have destroyed one of the essential elements of free speech and political debate. In a free society, people with differing opinions live together in harmony, agreeing not to force their neighbor to be silent if his opinions offend them. If offensive speech had been prohibited in the 1770s, there would be no United States of America, and that is one of the reasons for the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. Of course, Canada is a different case -- but wherever offensive speech is prohibited, the tyrant’s power is solidified. That is no less so in this case, although the tyrant in question is of a different kind.
==== Bomb us, and we agonize over the "root causes." Decapitate us, and our politicians rush to the nearest mosque to declare that "Islam is a religion of peace."
Issue bloodcurdling calls at Friday prayers to kill all the Jews and infidels, and we fret that it may cause a backlash against Muslims.
Behead sodomites and mutilate female genitalia, and gay groups and feminist groups can't wait to march alongside you denouncing Bush and Blair.
Murder a schoolful of children, and our scholars explain that to the "vast majority" of Muslims "jihad" is a harmless concept meaning "healthy-lifestyle low-fat granola bar."
Thus the lopsided valse macabre of our times: the more the Islamists step on our toes, the more we waltz them gaily round the room.
As French philosopher Jean-Francois Revel wrote, "Clearly, a civilization that feels guilty for everything it is and does will lack the energy and conviction to defend itself."

Canadian al-Qaeda terrorist Mohammed Mansour Jabarah, gets life in prison
By Stewart Bell, National Post
2008 01
18
TORONTO — A Canadian al-Qaeda terrorist was sentenced to life in prison this morning by a New York judge for plotting to blow up the American embassies in Manila and Singapore in 2001.
Mohammed Mansour Jabarah, 26, of St. Catharines, Ont., is one of a small group of elite terrorists who joined al-Qaeda by making an oath of allegiance to Osama bin Laden.
After graduating from high school in southern Ontario, Jabarah traveled to Afghanistan, where he trained at camps run by Libyans and al-Qaeda. He met bin Laden four times and was trained by Khalid Shaikh Mohamad, the architect of the 9/11 attacks.
His attempt to bomb the U.S. embassies was thwarted by Singaporean security officers. He fled to Thailand and Oman, where he was arrested and deported to Canada. After confessing to CSIS he surrendered to the FBI.

Montreal, Toronto flights targeted in alleged British bomb plot
Death toll would have been on 'almost unprecedented scale,' British court hears
Thursday, April 3, 2008
CBC NEWS
http://www.cbc.ca/world/story/2008/04/03/bomb-plot.html
Air Canada flights to Toronto and Montreal were among the seven planes allegedly targeted in a massive bomb plot that was being planned in Britain, a court in west London heard Thursday.
All seven trans-Atlantic flights were scheduled to take off within hours of each other from London's Heathrow airport at the height of the summer vacation season in 2006, the prosecution told the Woolwich Crown Court.
A specific date for the alleged attacks had not been picked.
However, the accused were reportedly targeting the 3 p.m. Air Canada Flight 849 that leaves Heathrow daily for Toronto and the regular Air Canada Flight 865 that leaves at 3:15 p.m. for Montreal.
The other five planes, run by United Airlines and American Airlines, fly regularly to Washington, Chicago, New York and San Francisco, the court heard.
The Crown alleges eight British men planned to carry small bombs — made with liquid hydrogen-peroxide-based explosives — in plastic drink containers on board the planes.

In this undated photo issued Thursday by the Metropolitan Police are, top row from the left, Tanvir Hussain and Assad Sarwar. In the bottom row from the left are Mohammed Gulzar and Arafat Waheed Khan. (Metropolitan Police/Associated Press)
All were to be detonated simultaneously as the planes crossed the Atlantic Ocean carrying between 240 and 285 people each.
The group hoped to recruit as many as 18 suicide bombers and did not confine their ambitions to blowing up just seven airplanes, prosecutor Peter Wright alleged.
"The plan was designed to bring about what would have been a civilian death toll on an almost unprecedented scale," Wright said.
The suspects, all in their 20s, were arrested on Aug. 10, 2006, in a two-day police sweep that led to the cancellations of hundreds of flights in and out of Britain.
The incident changed the way passengers around the world fly, as airlines placed restrictions on carrying liquids, gels and aerosols aboard planes.
Suspect to-do list included buying juice
The alleged ringleader of the group, 27-year-old Ahmed Abdullah Ali, had a USB flash drive in his pocket that had flight details and Heathrow security information on it when he was arrested, the prosecution said.

In this undated photo issued Thursday by the Metropolitan Police are, top row from the left, Umar Islam, also known as Brian Young, and Waheed Zaman. In the bottom row from the left are Ibrahim Savant and Ahmed Abdullah Ali, also known as Ahmed Ali Khan. (Metropolitan Police/Associated Press)
He had a to-do list calling for him to buy batteries, a disguise and three kinds of drinks: red-coloured Oasis juice, the sugary drink Tang and the sports drink Lucozade.
Wright told jurors the suspects hoped to smuggle explosives on board, disguising them to look like soft drinks or mouthwash.
"They were prepared to board an aircraft with the necessary ingredients and equipment to construct and detonate a device that would bring about not only the loss of their own lives but also all of those who happened by chance to be taking the same journey," Wright said.
Ali was arrested along with Assad Sarwar, Tanvir Hussain, Umar Islam, Arafat Waheed Khan, Ibrahim Savant, Waheed Zaman and Mohammed Gulzar.
All eight are charged with conspiracy to murder and with planning acts of violence likely to endanger the safety of an aircraft. Both offences carry maximum sentences of life imprisonment.
Not surprising Canada targeted: ex-British officer
John O'Connor, a former commander with Scotland Yard's anti-terrorism unit, told CBC News Thursday that it's not surprising that Canadian flights were among the targets.
"It might seem difficult for Canadians to understand, but when you're looking at Canada and America, one tends to on this side of the Atlantic combine them as one, and I'm sure that's what the terrorists do," he said from London.
"They see them as very close cousins, and they wouldn't discriminate them against one or the other…. As far as the insurgents are concerned, any Western country which is an ally of the United States is going to be seen as a legitimate target."
The British bomb plot trial is expected to last six months, with Judge David Calvert-Smith warning 100 prospective jurors during a selection hearing on Wednesday that proceedings would be long and complex.
