Notme. You got that completely wrong.
Up until a few years ago I could not answer the bilingual question on the application forum honestly and said I was mainly English speaking. Guess what....that's right, NO JOB>

hey i never saidthose dum dum were to bright

i only sdaid that i believe that as long as you can communicate  with  the other language    it should be ok   understanding French for u and me understanding English no need to write it  or be able to speak it  since most people (including me have a bad accent outside their mother tongue

which makes us hard to understand anyway

I can read french a bit but can't master the art of speaking it. I can't figure how a french person can speak a five minute sentence without pausing for a breath.

Re: I Live In New Brunswick

    K, I have a question.......

I'm frustrated by this whole bilingulism thing.  See, I've been in New Brunswick all my life, but, French Immersion didn't really happen when I was going to school.  So my generation got left out in the cold when it came to learning French.

Once school was all done, all of a sudden I needed to know French to get a lot of the high paying jobs.  I know government won't look at you if you don't know French, despite the "equal opportunity employer" thing they claim.

So why won't they pay for courses for people like me to learn French?  Why should I have to pay for it?

Re: I Live In New Brunswick

I totally agree with mike6x5 on this.

French emersion was not put in place early enough in the schools, so I missed out as well.

Now I can't get a good job here in Moncton because all the bi-lingual people get ahead of me. Really frustrating!

Re: I Live In New Brunswick

You won't get any arguments from me here..Anyone who knows me well enough on here knows I lost a damm good paying job 6 months into mat leave because I don't speak french...But gee..they let me train the french people my position before I left..

I have no problem attempting to learn the language.  Would love to be able to speak frech, but like Mike, when I was going to school it wasn't a big thing till I graduated..Then all the sudden BOOM..To work in a corner store I had t speak french...I understand the reasoning for this in this day in age.  What bothers me is that if you want to clasify New Brunswick as officially bilingual...Why should I have to pay for the course.  The same could be said for a person who is french, why should they pay for the course...The goverment wants more qualified people in the jobs vacant in New Brunswick, they want people to stay in New Brunswick..well...offer the course to mature students.  There would be a big impact on the job market I am sure and the unemplyment rate.
