Re: Poll: What To Do, What To Brew

Here I am faced with a tough decision again. I have a can of malt but want to make something different with it.
I have the following ingredients laying around:
    corn flakes
    coffee
    tea
    apples
    oranges
    pancake syrop
    white sugar
    brown sugar
    chocolate easter bunny
Which combination would ferment the best? Please don't say soup although I have a steamer and can dump some of the water from the drip tray in it.
I have stores nearby so I can get other ingrediants if I hear an idea I like.

    LMAO!

In my brew-drinking daze I wouldn't put anything into the brew except water, can of malt, sugar and yeast.  John Bull brand

Every make maple syrup wine?  I think I have the recipe here somewhere.....OH, but you don't follow a recipe.  Delete that idea.

I made maple wine once. The recipe called for a gallon of maple syrop. I couldn't afford a gallon of maple syrop back then at $35.00 a gallon so I made it with only a quart of syrop which cost $10.00. It had a kick to it. I try to stay away from brewing with maple syrop because it creats a form of wood alcohol which can ve very dangerous. If I want something maple flavoured I'm better off taking a bit if maple syrop and mixing it with a shot of whiskey or vodka.

Yes, that would be pretty expensive, yup yup......I used to make it every spring.  I tapped some trees so I had the makings.  My maple syrup wine consisted of mostly sap as the base which really excited me cuz it was unique and right from a tree.  The wine came out a nice pastel yellow in colour.

One time a friend partied with me on the wine.  Ya couldn't drink it like ya would beer but he didn't go by the rules.  The next day he was driving by and stopped in just to tell me I should rename the wine to Double Come Back Attcha........I guess he put in a horrible night.

I like buying a small can of Doric malt. You can do almost anything with it and it is about half the price of a can of John Bull. I think I'm going to mix it with double the sugar and throw in some cucumbers for a refreshing aftertaste and to help clear it up faster.

    CUCUMBERS!

    LMAOx100

    You crack me right up.

I bet you have your brew making down to a science though......sounds like it.

I've got a few years under me belt of making my own too.  I always had home-made brandy around, wines and brews. I made gin one time but it was horrible.

    Fun!

    Willie The Wrapper

    Wee Willie Wuddle,
    Made a batch of brew.
He made it out of coffee,
Just to try out something new.

    He made it fairly strong.
Of this I can assure you.
    He got really poopeyed,
After just a bottle or two.

He turned into Willie the Wrapper,
    Sometime approximately midnight.
But he did show a little bit of talent,
For a drunken rapper who is white.

Re: Poll: What To Do, What To Brew

I was out pedalling my bike last summer and saw a can of malt I absolutely, positively had to have. I threw it on my credit card and went home to make it. I still haven't made it yet.

Re: Poll: What To Do, What To Brew

I finally put that batch of brew on. I added the malt, white sugar, brown sugar, and a couple squirts of pancake syrup to about 4 1/2 gallons of warm water. I was disapointed to wake up in the morning and not hear it burbling away. I then realize I had forgotten to put the yeast in. I chucked in the yeast and 1/8 of a watermelon and was happy when it started burbling about a half hour later. Hmmmm, what a great air freshener and hopefully will be tasty on some hot day in July.
