I agree that the media is portraying the wrong images to our females. However, I think the real problem is parenting. The media wouldn't have nearly as big an influence if parents were around. The image is driven by money. Those shirts wouldn't be on the shelves if they weren't selling. If parents weren't allowing their kids to dress that way, they wouldn't be there. Obviously it's more complex than that, but it's true.

Also, I don't think it's shallow to say that yes, looks do matter. No one can deny it, and anyone who says otherwise is a liar. If I am standing in the mall of course I'm giong to be much more likely to approach someone who I find attractive. I find a wide range of women attractive though. I like women with a little meat on them simply because of their curves. However, I don't want a belly, it's a fine balance. I hate the "skinny" look. I love athletic women. Tennis players personify the body that I'm attracted to. Anna Kournikova, Maria Sharapova, tight, toned, athletic. It also helps that these women are also very strong in character as well. I find competitiveness very sexy.

The girl I'm currently somewhat involved with (interesting story) is in an incredible academic program, she has a 3.9 or a 4.0 gpa. She played high school basketball and is very active. She just came back from volunteering in Africa, she's funny, insightful and amazingly caring. She's incredibly sexy not only because she's physically beautiful (and she is, very) but also because of the person she is.  Looks do matter, but it's not what matters most.

You are right; to some extent, looks do matter. I would not date anyone I did not find attractive.  The problem is that because women are expected to be a certain way, males who have grown up in society have lost respect for anyone who is not. I have asked my male peers and they said the have checked out “ fat chick” but would be too ashamed to admit it to other guys because of embarrassment. I asked them why they would be embarrassed and I got “ well, girls should be thin, I want a hot girlfriend.” Right there is what I mean. A women who is overweight can be not beautiful? I bet that girl was very bright, understanding and caring. But did anyone try to find out? Of course not she was fat. That’s the way the cookie crumbles. I think society needs a change but nobody has the guts to stand up and do something. Some people have no clue what it does to others self esteem. I was a lot bigger in the past two years, and I was treated horribly. I use to cry and no matter how hard I made an effort, I couldn’t change. Now I grew 4 inches and I am treated totally different. Is that right? Because my waist if a few inches smaller I deserve more respect? It is how we portray overweight women as gross, lazy, embarrassing. But they aren’t.

I don't think what you're describing is indicative of all society. The world is nothing like highschool. Most people mature. I'm more than likely not going to approach someone who is 'fat' (your words not mine) in a romantic way simply because that first approach is almost always entirely based off of physical attraction.

Re: a little about how society had ruined teen girls and women..no wonder women say " am i fat?"

actually the first approach to me would be based on the way the person acts and present herself

but also in the same breath it would not be a 240 lbs person that eat constantly and does not that care of herself

I think that most men gorw up ( hopefully) but it does affect women in future relationships. Like i dont feel good about myself, and my boyfriend thinks i am nts. It is because before  lost alot of my weight i was treated like..well..crap.
