No way.

I was even debating whether to install XP last year. I just don`t see the point of installing a bloated operating system that hogs nearly all your pc resources even before you start doing anything on the machine!! Lets face it, half the bells and whistles installed on Vista, most will never use.

Looking at the Vista specs, even a half decent pc is going to struggle to run. Then on top of the operating system you`ll want to run other applications, games etc.

I used to hate XP. Finally I got a new puter with it installed on it and I actually like it. XP is ok and probably Vista is, too. What ticks me off is the fact that people try to force changes on you. As far as I'm concerned Windos 98SE was the best system Microsoft ever put out. Just my opinion.

Then of course you have a plethora of linux variations available, most are free too.

It`s getting quite popular now, but it still has that "geek" label attached to it.

I have a couple of linux distros, but I use them for web application testing/scripting. I have my system to dual boot between linux and windows, but for general stuff I stick with windows xp most of the time.

I would never lease or credit for a computer. It`s cheap enough to buy all the parts from ebay and build a nice pc.

I have a 2.8ghz AMD with 1.5gb ram, 80gb and 40gb hard drive, dvd burner, cdrw which is pretty top of line. All of it came from ebay for an approx total of $220. The tower case is pretty old and worn but the insides work just fine.

I`ve put together quite a few machines for friends and saved them several hundred dollars. No need to line the pockets of Dell and the big businesses.

My puter was a bit overpriced. $22.00 a month plus tax for 3 years. The offer was there when I needed it. Any service when needed is worth paying for.

Instead of MSN pushing a new system at people every few years why can't they make the ultimate system and call it "MSN Subscription"? For a monthly fee the person would get a puter with the latest system on it. As newer ideas come out the customer would get a new puter to adjust to them or extra ram, video cards, etc.

that sounds like a very good idea i have the new vista system that came with my pc now calmly sittin on a shelf above my pc and it will be there until i can afford the new hardware and software to make my stuff work or until someone makes it a little more compatible with other programs
