Naw it's cause there are stubborn mules that just don't realise that the world has changed along with technology and that things are just not like they used to be. Just like women has to work now, and that you can sit in your home and order everything for X-Mas without seeing a store etc...

Face the facts, things just cannot stay the same.

We do what we do..Most of us do what we have to to survive..Some of us stay home for years to raise our kids and make alot of sacrafices along the way because of our own personal beliefs and some of us go to work because of personal beliefs...

Up untill June I was in a marriage where I stayed home with my children while my now ex husband worked..could we afford all the extras in life..nope..we made personal sacrafices to do it due to OUR OWN personal beliefs...It can be done...it is just based on one families beliefs within their home...did I miss out on the shopping and extra forms of entertainment/? yup!  would I have done it differently.Nope!.....to each their own..raising my children myself is my personal choice so I make my own personal sacrafices..Am I continuing to do it now even though I am not married..YUP!  still no regrets...and yes I do recieve some social assitance..not a full benefit but because of the lil I receive I can continue with my belief and still provide my children with medical benefits if and when needed...I still have my pride intact and still have a social life...Social assistance is a good thing and does not put me in a lower class..peoples ignorant beliefs put me in a lower class....

hey      yes i hate our government because they use canadians as scape goats  for everyone else and give us dick all also i neversaid i approve them being on asistance i am saying that they have a better life than most of us and it is because they are better off than most working class people   ......

also   it is because we are not having any kids that our country is going down  but that is what our government wants   ...that is why they are keeping our wages lows  and prices high and helping refugees and most immigrants with special benefits     (not all immigrants if they want to work and live like us  they do not get that help )

I would like to actually see where they have a better life than the working class? Really, show me proof of that. I have been on both sides of the fence and believe me I will stay on the side i am on now. I never had extra money when I was on social assistance, I had enough money to pay my rent and food for the month and that was it. I have no money to go to bars, to go watch a movie, to go eat out once a week etc...I couldn't go shopping for just me just to make me happy, I couldn't just buy something for my son due to being good in school. I didn't enjoy my income when i was on SA. There wasn't enough to go around. I even had to wash our clothes in teh bathtub because I couldn't afford to go to the laundry mat to get them cleaned. Yes that is a wonderful life to live.

Did you ever check out the min wage in the US? not much differece than here (actually when my b/f was living there it was 2$ less than what we have here) It's not low income jobs that is the problem, it's high price products and services.

well you most be very different than others   because i live right acroos from low rentals were  most are on asistance   ...most places have a car and everything else they need

no social assistance for those in NEED   those not make them a lower class   in my books ...

even the ones that are oni t because it is not worth  to be working at minimun wages  well under 12.00 /hr are not  lower class as long as they are not just drinking or drugging their money away

Some working class people also drink and use all their money for drugs as well..has nothing to do with if they work or  not...it has to do with their own personal choices...Speaking of which....if a persona can make their own personal choice that would mean there is still freedom in Canada...

Last comment to make,,I may be a stay at home mom but I DO work..Maybe harder then the people that get up everyday to an office and type on their work computer all day!  If it is conisdered work to work in a daycare then why am I considered unemplyed to work at home raising my kids 24 /7???  Same work morehours and no pay...Excuse me now..I have to go clean, cook lunch and finish baking my cookies

Re: How much longer will Canada be free?

Brand new cars? Nope, I had a car too (because living in tehcountry, one cannot even go grocery shopping if you don't have a car) but you can't claim they live the high life. How much things do they go without? Do you know? Are htey actually good parents and spending the money that is being provided by the Gov at the right places, prob not if they can enjoy everything reg working class can. Are they selling drugs? (I know many that are on SA and sell drugs, that is how they live as good of a life as me). Just based on the AS check, one cannot live with luxuries. A single person on SA gets less than 400$ a month, a person with one child gets 780$ a month (well that was base on 3 years ago when I got it) Any extra children only bring 100$ (give or take) a month on that check and after 3 it doesn't even go up. Explain to me now, how one could live the good life with that many children to feed, clothed, etc.. on that income?

Sass, I get where you are coming from, I was there (but for different reasons, my ex husband did not want me to go out in public alone so he did not want me to work) I was home with my son until we moved to Moncton, once moved here things just broke down and I had to leave (kinda hard to live with someone that watches your every move) so I got SA until I got a job. Well they helped me until I had a good job and able to support my son by my own. They had told me that they would not drop my case until I could do that without their help. They helped me out for a year after I got my current job to make it easier for me to work. I have the most respect for the ones that show they are willing to help themselves. Even if you are a stay at home mom, if you are a single parent, it's hard cause you don't expect to be alone with your kids in the future, so there is nothing wrong with being on SA. Being a single mom is a job and a half. Wave [wave] kudos to you.

The ones I have no respect for is the ones you see both parents are at the home but none of them are actually taking care of the kids. If both parents are ready and able to work, there is no reason for both to besitting on their low income housing deck and take money away from families that truly needs the help. Those are the ones that pisses in my cornflakes!! So if anyone that fits that description reads this, WAKE UP AND GET F*CKEN A JOB leave the money to help those who truly need it.

Canada has always been free. Just ask any immigrant who just walks in and takes over. (Shhh.  Just trying to bug Notme).
