Got excited there....anyway --- pretty well all of my friends are women.  I've said it before, that most guys can't have a friendship going on with another guy without the pi$$ing contests going on all the time.  And that just drives me bonkers.

Since most of my friends are women, I made it a point through my life to tell anyone that I might get into a relationship with that this is the way it is with me.  If you can't accept it, then it's very likely I'm not your type of guy.  I have no problem with it if my potential mate doesn't agree with it and would rather go somewhere else.

However, I'm happily married and my wife knows me for who I am, since I've told her all this.  We've never had problems with it to date, since 1992.  I think you have to just be up front from the getgo.

Ahhh, I say 'sir' to someone as a sign of respect.  Sir! 

Nothing at all to do with age.  My taekwondo instructor is referred to as "sir" by his students, including me, and he's six years younger than I am.

i realize that i had to use that word alot when i was in the army but thanks anyway

What are the qualities that lead to a solid friendship? First of all, friendship must be genuine. I think the cultivation of a friendship is that one must be generous. When you are in a friendship it has its own rewards. Christ summed up the element of generosity when he said, "greater love than this no one has than he who lays down his life for his friend." Friendship is never marred by jealousy or malice.
However, I know strong friendships between a man and woman are sometimes difficult for people to understand, and I really do not know why? What I think is more readily accepted though are relationships between two women or two men.  Go figure. What I tend to look for in people is a sense of humor, charity, understanding, compassion and that is only some of the ingredients that have to be cultivated for a solid friendship with another, especially with males. I love friendships and I love them even more if they are with men, afterall men need friends too.

I have been friends with a lovely lady for over 5 years, very plutonic. We used to spend a lot of time together, just enjoying each others company. We met on line and she was looking for a male friend ,but no sex. Asked if I could live with that.

We've drifted apart and back together several times in that time. She will always be a part of my life.

She still is my closest friend and I do love her dearly.
