That's not very fair. If you can speak french in NB(which is biligual no matter what you want) you will get a better chance of getting a job. Yes most people can speak english but why should we? If we want to be served in french it's our right. We don't have to go to quebec to speak it as NB is biligual. It's going to be your problem for not having as many choices due to you not wanting to learn a second language (what is so wrong with being biligual?). But don't go whinning about loosing out on jobs just because you choose to be closed minded. The schools just want to give you a better opportunity here in NB by forcing you to learn french(most jobs you do need to deal with both languages). I was forced to learn english in school also and I'm glad that it's mandatory as my child will also have those benefits of being biligual. Being biligual just makes a person that much more intelligent. I see nothing wrong with that. I am proud to be biligual and would love to learn more languages.
My father is pure french, while mom's side is English/Jewish/German.
I'm a mixed breed.
That said, because I have french blood, I can say that I think billingualism is a GOOD THING, but for anyone to FORCE the issue is ignorant.
One should not be turned down from employment because they cannot speak french; thats' biased.
NB is the only mandatory billingual province in all of Canada.
Yes, learn french.
Yes, have french as an option.
NO, don't dicriminate against English people because they aren;t Acadian French.
Oh..Bulert, many Quebec-ers laugh at Acadians because of their half french/half english dialect; acadians aren't true frenchmen.
And before any acadians throw stones my way....
MY FATHER IS FULLY ACADIAN.
