1 - Unions don't negotiate for a strike - it cost them money - members on strike don't pay Union dues for starters - more legal fees - strike pay , etc.
2 - Unions didn't accept less - the MEMBERS did
If a Union is run right the MEMBERS make the decisions. The guys or girls at the table are only the voice of the MEMBERS. If this is not the case, then it's no longer a Union; its a dictartorship.
I agree - the Labor movement as a whole needs to take a step back and look at what's going on. Hopefully, it will happen sooner than later. The problem with most Unions is that they run them like companies - they forgot what they should be doing. But that's my fault as a member as much as it's my fault as a Canadian that our goverments only cater to big business and not to Joe Taxpayer.
