That's taking my comments completely out of  context, and you know it.

    Here's the point.

I don't really agree with them having a parade but I do understand why. When the parades started, they DIDN"T have rights. They had to fight and fight and fight to egt what they have now. It's still not accepted by teh maj of people. The ones that are still "in the closet" are scared to come out either because of being unaccepted in this world (which yes some people accept them for who they are but there is still a huge portion that DON"T)

If you know that you could be beaten, abandoned by your friends and family etc.. woudl you be so open about it? I love my parents, but if I would be gay, they wouldn't accept it and disowe me. I sure wouldn't want to loose comunication with them so sure I would not say a thing about it to them. Live a lie I could say. These parades are there so that the "closet gays" can realise that they normal people just like you and me and not feel all freakish (it woudl help if the peopel in teh parades would just act normal thought).

    Paladin, you posted

12 Homosexual behavior is found in at least 1,500 species of mammal, fish, reptile, bird, and even invertebrate.

13 My two dads: When a male goose courts another male goose, a female sometimes slips in and mates with both males. Later, the male partners share paternal duties.

14 Some seagulls practice lesbian mating, although the eggs that result from their liaisons are sterile.

15 Biologists at the University of California at San Francisco have found that male fruit flies exposed to high levels of alcohol become hypersexual and try to court practically anything with wings, including other male fruit flies. Eventually the revelry turns into a dysfunctional orgy, with “a chain of males chasing each other,” says one insect expert (subscription).

so what did you think of this specific comments? Do you believe these are true? If so, then why is it so unnatural for humans to haev homosexual tendencies?

No, I don't have anything to fear. Tell that to the 18 year old kid who dropped by a bar to give somebody a lift home. As he sat at the bar, drinking pop, a gay guy tried to pick him up. Being about 31 years ago times were a bit different than they are now. A few people at the bar knew of the kid's naivetivety and thought it was kind of comical. There was really no harm done but in that 20 minute time period a bit of psychological damage was caused. The kid grew a couple of years older and started going to bars and everywhere he went gay guys would try to pick him up. It took a few trips to the Cosmo and other clubs to realize a straight guy doesn't stand in a certain corner. I'm not bragging when I say I've had a hell of a lot of gay guys try to pick me up. The whole thing came to a boil one night at Tim Horton's by Highfield Square at about 2:30 am. I had just finished my nightly 8-12 mile run and every ounce of adrenalin my body had was going through my veins. As I drink my coffee I feal a hand on my leg and it's not mine. Turning, to hopefully find a pretty girl, I find it's a guy. To my 164 pounds this guy this guy was huge and I got scared. I left the building and he followed me out. He must have outweighed me by about 60 pounds. He got closer to me and I turned around and gave him a boot knocking him to the ground. Then I ran like hell. I know a few people here are going to boo me for what I did but I was scared and handled the situation the best way I could. I ask the boo-ers if they would would think differently if I was a woman in the same situation with a guy 60 pounds heavier than she was. Double standardize me. I don't care. I have my reasons for fealing about certaing things the way I do. A gay guy's gay. I accept that. I'm homophobic. Accept that for what it is.

Contextomy refers to the selective excerpting of words from their original linguistic context in a way that distorts the source’s intended meaning, a practice commonly referred to as "quoting out of context". The problem here is not the removal of a quote from its original context (as all quotes are) per se, but to the quoter's decision to exclude from the excerpt certain nearby phrases or sentences (which become "context" by virtue of the exclusion) that serve to clarify the intentions behind the selected words.

I am not taking you "out of context" at all. I refuted your point that ....

    Lord Denning wrote:

The whole point of a minority demonstration is to attempt to raise awareness and have the minority's rights recognized as equal to the majority.  A majority uprising gives the impression that the majority is attempting to deny the minority's rights as equal to its own, thereby reinforcing the majority's standing by attacking the minority's.

by citing demonstrations that fell outside of the parameters you listed. That isn't taking you out of context it is rather refuting the point because your premise allowed for it.

It is fully debatable that current gay pride parades are celebratory in nature hence "Gay Pride" rather than "Gay rights" or "gay activist" parades.

Do I know full well what you meant ... certainly. Do you know that not all demonstrations are for demanding special privelleges, or treatment, but rather for celebrating ? I would hope so but you certainly didn't make that clear given your proposal.

I hope you weren't counting me as a potential boo-er. He acted inappropriately, it was sexual assualt (though not rape, rape is far more violent and usually about power not sex, but I digress) and you defended yourself. He shouldn't have touched you uninvited, that having been done he shouldn't have followed you out of the timmies and certainly not gotten within striking distance. I would say the same thing no matter which side the size difference was on, the age of those involved, or the gender. (or color or religion but those weren't factors)

Thanks. I've been fealing a bit guilty about that for a long time. When I took off I ran up around St George St a bit then when the coast looked clear I went back to Tim Horton's about a half hour later to get my car when I was sure the coast was clear.

I am sorry that those things happened to you and caused your world to be colored the way it has. I understand completely how you must have felt or at least how I would have in your situation.

Re: The Real Reason Straight Americans Can’t Accept Gay Americans

Like I say I don't dislike gay people. I know a few of them. A few years back I found out a friend of mine, who I've known for about 40 years now, is gay. I'll admit I was a bit shocked at first but now I don't give a rat's a$$. He's never done any wrong against me. He's a good guy and I suspect his other half is, too.

I dunno I don't think they would want a rat's a$$ regardless of the rat's gender. Thats more a different issue than same sex relations.

As an aside I don't know what all the hubbub is about I'm married all sex is the same sex. laughing [laughing]

I still stand on my belief that it is a genetic abnormality.

And yes all forms of life are succeptable to genetic abnormalities. Not just humans.

Do any of you believe it is natural and normal for a baby to be born with 2 heads as are Siamease Twins?

Or babies born with no arms or no legs?

    Is this normal?

    A cleft Pallet?

    dual genatilia?

You name it and some one has given birth to it.

Who will be the first to Post here that these things are normal and explain why?

Yes they are normal...to them! They are who they are. They did not ask for it, or choose it. Blind is a genetic abnormality, downs, deafness is too. Some choose to get corrective surgery if available, many don't.Should we cull them at birth? Like imperfect animals?? Should we condemn them if they or their parents choose to leave them as the BEAUTIFUL people they are??

No, they are not normal and you know it.

Yes they all have a right to exist. Do not try to twist my meaning.

They ARE normal for THEM. What don't you get? I have a friend with one arm. I dare you to tell her she is not normal. She would kick your ass. She works full time, is raising two kids, she IS normal. She has a disability, but she is normal.

Re: The Real Reason Straight Americans Can’t Accept Gay Americans

When I was in grade 5 I was required to read a novel in which people were seperated into seperate groups...One being the "norm" and the other being people with something different then the norm.  I remember vaguely in it there being something about a lil girl who lost theit uncle or something...he was killed because he was different and she was left alone....This was my first inspiration at making me see most everyone as equals.....I carried the meaning of the story with me all through life....I have been trying to for years try to think of the name of this novel..Can anyone help?

And without getting confrontational with anyone ...if homosexuality is more of a gentic disorder or abnormality why would they not be allowed in the church?  Does the church and the bible turn away every person with an abnormality or just this one?

Re: The Real Reason Straight Americans Can’t Accept Gay Americans

Mask, the 1985 movie based on a true story, starring Cher, was the story that taught me that "normal" was different for different people. Physical appearance, sexual preferences, has no bearing on normalcy to me.
