Well I have no clue when french started to be incorporated but I do know that it's been in the schools for many years now so anyone still going to school should know the basic of french. I wasn't trying to say that the people that missed out due to schools not having the program are "old" sorry lol. (but they are older than the ones that did and does have french programs in their schools)

I had french classes all thruogh elementry..about a half hour a week...In grade 7 french immersion was taught...Like I said though...The community as whole was not french.  The term Bilingual province was not in existance....I grew up in Riverview which was prodominantly at the time English..So there was no push or need..Just the same as computers back then...Was not a huge thing yet..We took computer in High school and it was in Dos. (some ppl in here probably don't even know what that is..hehe, maybe I am old.)..but was not pushed.....

I tried to learn French from a Parisian French teacher. She couldn't learn me nothing. I ended up going to summer school. Parisian French doesn't work too good in the Maritimes.

I hated dos Programming..lol..I have no patience for it

I believe 1 french credit was madatory when I was in school. They did teach a little bit of french in lower grades.

The french emersion started when I was in Grade 11 or 12, I was almost finished school at that point.

I grew up in a small town along the Maine Border, so French was not very important there at all.

Not pushed but once you discovered you  needed computer skills you took it up on yourself to learn right? No gov. funding to learn the basics of computers. It might not have been pushed or needed but you still had the option and choose not to take the option. It's not the gov's fault nor is it the french people's fault that we populated in the province. But we do deserve the right to have services in french. Sorry for the people that gets put down due to not being billigual but that should motivate people to learn french even more.

Actually I taught myself how to use the computer ..Didn't have to pay for it...Learned as I went along...If i can get a free french course I will take...You are still being extremely niave in your comments..

I don't think I am. I could say the same thing about being in a french community. There was no english people there but we still learned it. You did have teh chance to learn and you refused to take it. It's not the gov. fault you turn that chance down. It's yours. I speak english all the time, my son goes to a english school and my nephew comes from colorado so cannot speak french or understand it but he knows it's needed here and is willing to take the steps to learn it. I cannot see how you can say I'm being niave about my comments when there was comments made that "if we want french go to quebec" (not in those exact words but close) Maybe so when you were younger it wasn't as needed but that's still not a excuse.

I have not seen anyone answer my question on "if you were a employer would you hire two people to do the job of one?"

I was not the one to make the comment about going to Quebec..

You are not getting my point at all...People wether French or English should not have to pay to learn a second laguage in New Brunswick...Putting blame on ppl for not learning and paying for a course does not solve anything

Anyhow you and I can go like this for hours seeing as we are both strong in our beliefs so I will end it here and wait to debate on another topic at another time

First, I come from Quebec province and sorry my english need improvements.  I will move to New-Brunswick maybe in Moncton or Saint John.  I don`t know witch cities between them i`ll chose.  I have a University degree in Human resources.  When i visited both cities, i found Uptown Saint John more urban than Moncton.  However this city lack retails stores and smell not very well and i think she has a hight poverty level. The people are very friendly in both. Moncton developement is great with Downtown developement. I`ll probably chose Moncton but how can i improve my english in ?  I absolutely need to improve my english because it`s impossible to find a job here without both languages   I think moncton have the same as problem.  If  i like Moncton as my travel i`ll stay there for a while

Holy sh*t. You're English is 10 times better than my French. The best way to learn English is hang out with English people. Best way to learn French is to hang out with French people.
