    Two injured in collision, St. Hilaire, N.B.

    On Wednesday December 20, 2006 at 3:26 pm, members of District 10 RCMP were dispatched to a collision on Route 120 in St. Hilaire, NB, where an automobile had collided with a transport truck.

    The driver of the automobile, a woman in her thirties was transported to the hospital with serious injuries. Her passenger, an 11 year old girl was also transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the transport truck was not injured. The investigation is continuing.

    Single vehicle collision claims a Saint John man, Grand Bay-Westfield, NB

    Members of the District 3 RCMP are investigating a fatal collision that occurred on Highway 7, Grand Bay-Westfield, N.B near mile marker 86 on December 20, 2006 at 4:28 pm. The victim was 53 year old Harold Arthur Osburn of Saint John, NB.

    The victim was driving southward on Highway 7 when he lost control of his pick-up. The vehicle flipped over and caught on fire. He was the only occupant.

    The investigation is continuing.

    RCMP investigate three deaths, St George, NB

    Members of the District 1 St George RCMP are investigating the deaths of three family members that were discovered inside a partially submerged vehicle, on Friday morning, December 22, 2006. A person while traveling to work at 9:00 am, noticed part of a vehicle's roof protruding from Magaguadavic River in St. George, NB, near a steep embankment.

    The responding emergency personnel discovered the bodies of a 39 year old man, his 28 year old wife and three year old son inside the partially submerged vehicle. The St. George Fire Department and local ambulance personnel assisted the St. George RCMP with the recovery.

    An autopsy will be performed at the Saint John Regional Hospital to determine the cause of death. The vehicle has been impounded by the RCMP for a mechanical inspection. Their names will not be released pending notification of their family.

    The investigation is continuing.

    Update - Victims identified, St. George, NB.

    The District 1 RCMP reveal the identity of the victims found in the vehicle submerged in the Magaguadavic River. They are Bryan David Swan, 39 years old, Jael Swan, 29 years old, and Alex Bryan Swan, three years old.

    The investigation is continuing to determine the cause of this collision.

    Not Everyone is the Grinch at Christmas time

    Christmas spirit, Moncton, N.B.

    On Christmas evening at 10:00 pm, members of the Codiac Regional RCMP received a call from a distraught grandmother that all the Christmas gifts for her two young grandchildren had been stolen from the trunk of her vehicle. After confirming the incident, the Codiac members and the Codiac Telecommunication personnel collected gifts from their homes and from local businesses. At 1:00 am, the members made a very special delivery to an appreciative family. Canadian Tire, Shoppers Drug Mart and White Cab assisted in this Christmas effort.

    Proceeds of Crime seize assets, Moncton, N.B.

    The New Brunswick Provincial Proceeds of Crime Section of the RCMP with assistance from Codiac Regional RCMP today seized assets belonging to George Manship of Riverview, N.B.

    Two vehicles were seized as part of an 18 month investigation in relation to prostitution in Moncton.

    Proceeds of Crime investigators received permission from the New Brunswick Attorney General to make application to the Court of Queen’s Bench of NB for a Special Search Warrant to take control of the property. An application for forfeiture will only be made once the investigation and any court proceedings have concluded.

    Police seized a 1995 Coachline recreational vehicle/bus and a 2004 Chevrolet 3500 4 X 4 truck.

    The investigation is continuing and criminal charges are being considered.

    Public ask for public’s assistance, Eel Ground, NB

    The District 6 RCMP is investigating an attempted child abduction which occurred in the Eel Ground area on the evening of January 9, 2007, at 5:25 pm. An eight year old boy while walking home was grabbed from behind by an unidentified man. After the boy escaped, the suspect left the area in a vehicle.

    The suspect is described as being approximately 5'9" and having a medium build. He was wearing a hooded jacket, balaclava and gloves, all dark in color.

    Anyone with information regarding this suspect is asked to contact the District 6 RCMP at (506)843-9400 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS(8477).

    Highway 132 is closed, Meadow Brook, N.B.

    The District 4 RCMP has closed Highway 132 between Calhoun and Highway 2 due to a residential fire. The public and the media will be notified as soon as the highway is re-opened to traffic.

    Arson, St-Arthur, N.B.

    On January 15, 2007, the RCMP responded to a fire at a local woodworking business, Jomasa, in St-Arthur. A 40 year old man was arrested at the scene. He will appear in Provincial Court in Campbellton at a later date.

    The District 9 RCMP, Restigouche-Chaleur continue their investigation with the assistance of the N.B. Fire Marshall's Office.

    Update - Fatal fire, Mill Cove, N.B.

    The RCMP Major Crimes Unit South has completed its investigation into the fire which claimed the life of George Kennedy on May 2, 2006. The fire appears to have started in the basement of the Mill Cove home.

    No charges are anticipated, as his death is not considered to be the result of a homicide.

    Industrial accident- three injured, Sussex, N.B.

    On Wednesday, January 17th, 2007 at approximately 10:30 am, the District 3 Sussex RCMP responded to an industrial accident at the Poley Mountain Ski Resort. Three men working at the site, were transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

    New Brunswick Workplace Health, Safety and Compensation Commision investigators also responded to the scene and will continue this investigation.

    Drugs seized, Moncton, N.B.

    The Codiac Regional RCMP Street Drug Section recently conducted raids at two Moncton residences where quantities of cocaine and prescription drugs were seized.

    On January 05, 2007, a quantity of cocaine, marihuana, prescription pills and weapons were seized from a Killam Drive residence. A man in his 40's will appear in provincial court on January 29, 2007 to face numerous drug related charges.

    On January 11, 2007 members of the Codiac Regional RCMP Drug Section conducted a raid at a Marsh Avenue residence. A 42 year old man along with a 57 year old man will appear in provincial court on February 28, 2007 on charges of possesion for the purpose of trafficking in cocaine and prescription pills. A weapons related offence will also be laid in connection with the unsafe storage of a firearm.

    Break and enters, Dorchester, N.B.

    On Sunday, January 14, 2007 at approximately 7:00 pm, the District 4 Sackville RCMP responded to a break and enter which occurred at a residence in Dorchester. The RCMP Police Dog Service tracked the suspects’ scent from the residence to the Westmorland Institution.

    The investigation has revealed that possibly two inmates had escaped from the Institution to commit this break and enter, they then returned to the Institution with the stolen property. The investigation is continuing. Charges are pending.

    Serious multi vehicle crash closes Trans Canada Highway., Hartland, N.B.

    District 7 RCMP are at the scene of a multi vehicle collision on the Trans Canada just West of Hartland, NB. It is believed that there are serious injuries however details are not known at this time. The crash occurred around 3:30 PM and the TCH is closed to all traffic until further notice.
