I can see somebody soon complaining the name Willie suggests a penis. I might soon have to change my name to Peter.

No,its not racist, but native and aboriginal groups dislike the term by association. Indian ,conjures up images,of the drunken  indian, of the indian on welfare, looked upon by the White Explorers as something less than human, savages once called. The Europeans saw their culture as superior, yet without help from the natives they could not have settled North America.

" without help from the natives they could not have settled North America." - White Knight

An Indian is a person who has a heritage where a Native is just somebody who lives somewhere (IE...Native New Yorker).

"Indian ,conjures up images,of the drunken  indian, of the indian on welfare" - White Knight

Drunken and on welfare describes a lot of Corcasions I know.
