    clothes that make you slimmer

    Clothes that Make you Slimmer
    by Lisa Xing, TheSoko.com

Wouldn't it be great if we could look amazing in anything we put on, whether it's a skimpy dress or a garbage bag? Unfortunately, most of us women don't look like supermodels and well, we might not want to! For those times we do, though, TheSoko.com has a few looks that will give you the slimming effect.

    Black

I barely want to mention this one since it is so well-known, but just because of that, it deserves a mention. Black is a girl's best friend. It can be casual, formal, elegant or more alternative. And, best of all, it is slimming. Darker colours create a visual illusion to narrow your frame. The best thing is it applies to any clothing item, from shirts to skirts to pants.

    Capped Sleeves

A not-so-obvious solution is the capped sleeve. Instead of wearing a tank top that leaves the entire length of your arm exposed, choosing a little bit of fabric can go quite a long way. This detail covers up the top of your arms, giving you just enough coverage.

Going one step further, if you're looking for even more dramatic effects, look for full sleeves on tops. Even if you're looking for formalwear, there are gorgeous dresses that are created for more formal occasions.

    Resist Low-Rise

Another tip that may not be as obvious is if you want to hide a small bulge on your belly, low-rise pants may not be the best option. Low-rise pants end at your hips, just below your tummy. This means that if you wear a tighter top with this style and aren't sucking in your stomach (which is very uncomfortable!) it's easier for that extra few pounds to show. If you're wearing pants higher on the waist, though, it offers a bit of control.

Not all people feel the same about high waists. Personally, I do think the higher it is, the more uncomfortable it is, but somewhere closer to my belly button is a good fit. The double plus to this is that higher waists also give the illusion of longer legs.

    Empire Waist

Empire waists have made a comeback. In addition to being classic, this is perhaps one of the most flattering details a girl's waistline can ask for. Since it begins to flare right under your chest, tops or dresses like this will hide a tummy and wide hips. Dresses in this style will also help hide a wide rear. Clothes with empire waists come in a variety of styles and textures, so have fun looking around for ones that look best on you.

    Halter Top

Halter tops, in short, draw attention to areas like the shoulders that are usually more toned. The best is a halter top with an empire waist that emphasizes the shoulders and minimizes the waist area. Also, it sometimes minimizes a large bust

    Patterns

We always hear that large patterns will made us look bigger, but believe it or not, a correctly-chosen one will help conceal what you want. Smaller patterns are great since they break up your silhouette and by doing that, make that tummy less obvious.

Of course, you can do this with larger patterns, too, but make sure you look in the mirror when trying these types on because there is some truth in it-some larger patterns do accentuate the parts you don't want to be accentuated. It's all about what you feel comfortable in and what you think looks good on you.

    Overall rule of thumb

Now, I don't like preaching, or dishing out rules since everyone is different and it's usually futile to generalize, but this one is important and holds true. Don't buy a smaller size of clothing just to be able to fit into a size 1 or 3. Buy the size that does fit you best and you will feel much better and more comfortable with yourself instead of trying to squeeze into a smaller size.

    accentuate what you have!

No matter what body shape and size you are, the most important thing to remember is that there isn't one "perfect" body. Be proud of what you have and use these styles mentioned above to accentuate that.

It's my life and I love it!!

I like that some women actually think about this stuff cause there is nothing like a big fat chick wearing things that are not her size.
