Anyone have any experience of appeals against home valuations for property tax charges?
I wonder if they just apply a blanket increase according to the survey they most like the look of ie the highest price rise.
Having received my bill yesterday showing a $500 increase after last year's $800 increase, I did a bit of internet research.
Statscan shows inflation running at 1.2% from Jan 06 to Jan 07 and only 0.3% in NB.
Shelter costs over the same period went up by 2.8% Nationally...no figure for NB.
Housing Prices - latest figures Oct 05 to Oct 06 shows 3.3%
Royal LePage Dec 05 to Dec 06 shows an average 8.3% with a 'two storey standard' rising by 6.6%.
I think the 9% increase for our slightly less than 2-storey is a bit inflated. Is the building of two 4-unit properties across the road likely to have a negative impact on prospective buyers?
