I like to consider myself a reasonable man. For example, when someone makes a post I don't agree with I reply and explain to them why it's a bad idea for them to be so arrogant.

So I am reading this post from some guy AAA (who I will refer to as "ChumpChange". I would first like to warn ChumpChange that it was a terrible idea to make post on forums confirming he's got anything to do with a place like Pets"Limited", because I'm sure it would not be to hard to figure out who he is and he wouldn't want to convey the image that this company employs dipshits, or is owned by a dipshit. ChumpChange seems to be disregarding many warnings and continues to feel he is right or I am sure hopes his employer doesn't find out, because it would be a damn shame if ChumpChange got fired or shut down for screwing up on the job.

In a desperate attempt to sound smart, ChumpChange wrote this in another post: actually people here are soooo gullible! i have never and NEVER will work for a company as such! Im just makin controversy here! I do think the company is ok tho, as I am a frequent shopper. so post away to the head office when they look for someone there for 8 years they will be like what?! 8 years at a place like that! couldnt imagine a day lol!! 

Then to make matters worse he writes: Hello one and all. I apologize hugely for the comments that were posted on this board. It seems that my brother had gone on here and tried to make a fool of me on the internet. He posted on several other message boards as well. Thank you. 

From many of the posts I have read here ChumpChange aka AAA claims that he is doing nothing wrong. He enjoys "abusing animals" who I "happen to like"?  Wow, impressive; way to challenge yourself ChumpChange.

I'm sure its quite an accomplishment to abuse "animals," what a pathetic life you must have, no really, it must have been very demanding having to learn how to hire untrained staff who really don't give a shyt about animals but need a few extra bucks, I think it ranks right up there with other lofty challenges like learning how to zip your fly without getting your dick caught.

Wow, those are really strong words. they convey a powerful message! I hope this AAA fellow gets the idea and STAYS OFF THE FORUM. I should pass some of his/her comments along to his/her employer and see what they have to say about it. Anyone up for that? I think that if you want to defend your company you must do so in a neutral way not by making it seem like all they care about is money and not about these POOR POOR animals that are suffering cause of Big Wigs in Pets Unlimited's head offices that think the SAME way as AAA and thats why these animals are suffering so much. This whole company and others like it make me sick! There is so much in teh law that protects the companies for everything they do wrong it seems like there are two laws that save ther asses. We need to start up a humane society here in Canada! This whole ordeal is frustrating but i am glad that i called the SPCA today and i hope that put another black mark on their little organization of making poor animals suffer. Hey, any news on the protest yet for tomorrow? Still waiting on that.

As I have read through this post and read the stories for everyone. I myself know of some of these stories. and I have seen the conditions myself. Unfortunately boycotting PU really is not going to do much.

I myself eventually wanting to someday own a kennel/pet store have done a fair amount of research on this topic such as kennel requirements, living conditions and excerise requirements. I know myself from being educated in the animal care field what each type of animal requires to be comfortable and sound. However there are no government regulations stating what a kennel size must be or how many animals are allowed per cage. Yes common sense should come into effect when dealing with an animals living conditions however this is a large corporation and they are trying to make money so common sense does get thrown out the window.

If there were government regulations stating what a kennel size should be, how many animals per cage allowance, feeding amounts and times, exercise requirements as well as socialization requirements then this company would not be getting away with what they have been. This really needs to start at the government level where they impliment these regulations and standards.

As for the mom and pop stores.. I myself have seen quite a few "bad" and border line abusive shops in moncton one of which has been shut down. Please keep in mind that the probability that 9 / 10 of these shops are supplied by puppy and kitten mills.

As for selling these animals at outragous prices... as long as they are not advertiseing "PURE BREED" so and so they can sell these animals for whatever price they deem right.  There is a law stating that an Animal can not be sold as a Pure Breed unless the pedigree is available and givin to the purchasor.  I could bred a dalmation with a grey hound and sell it for $8000.00 if I wanted to as long as I do not advertise and sell as a pure breed dalmation or pure breed grey hound. I have seen the postings on the kennels and have looked for the words Pure Breed and have not found these. They can call a pug a golden retriever if they wanted to as long as there is nothing saying PURE BREED GOLDEN RETRIEVER.

It is up to the buyer to beware and know their rights as well as their breeds. As for the awful conditions and lack of care you have to take a good look at who is being hired to care for these animals. People who have not been educated in proper animal husbandry. It doesn't matter if they are 17 years old or 99 years old... if you don't have the proper education or training your not going to do your job properly period. as for management there yes there is obviously a problem there as well. again it comes back to being educated in the proper care of these animals. There is nothing that can be done at the store level go to the corporation level and make the governement aware of this problem.. it isn't just Moncton that has this problem it is the whole of canada.

Well Pink, nice to see someone else who is not afraid to speak their mind. Love it! And i plan to call the SPCA tomorrow and complain..if we all do..they will have to clean up their act!

Well its actually kind of sad that there are just basic regulations. As long as there is money to be made its just like a huge corporation to go with the cheapest method so long as it keeps them legal. But I myself have done many hours of researching into Animal Rights and what  most laws state, albeit i dont know everything, I must say that it DOES state they need to be clean, have a bowl of water and food. Thats all. Well Pets unliminted they are rarely clean, have filthy scum,my water that isnt fit for a rat to drink, and food that has sat in a kennel for 24 hours or more cause staff are to lazy to change it. If they want to slell animals then they need to hire people who CARE for them as well as hire MANAGERS who care about the animals not about $$$$ much similar to the AAA guy on here.  I wouldnt be surprised if that person was indeed a manager or some sort of employee for real at the company who just discovered this.  All I can say is call the SPCA. COMPLAIN COMPLAIN COMPLAIN! we can speak for these animals! And if there is a mom and pop shop not meeting up to standards I would gladly include them into a crusade for better animal rights. The point is all the dogs from puppy mills have problems sooner or later, so if you want a dog get it from a reputable breeder who would typically charge less for a FULL BRED dog WITH papers and registration for someitmes half of what these money hungry corporations charge! Trust me I know this from experience.

wait! better yet adopt from the SPCA! HUNDREDS of dogs are there that need homes. SO people should be adopting there not feeding these horrible coprorations like Pets Unlimited money. ANd there any jo blo can buy a dog regardless of whether or not they know what to do with one or truly have commitment. The SPCA checks this first. They care about the animal not just the money. LIke PU, they dont care WHO you are if you can cough up the money to make the manager their bonus you can get a dog! Its quite sad and frustrating how hard it is to make a dent in this. I intend to keep in contact with the SPCA of NB. I encourage others to do the same! IE Bulert! Please do it! and others follow! EMail the stores too if you have to

The problem is though.. the animals are being given shelter/ food/ and water which are the basics. The argument can be for dirty water when being inspected is.. well we just put it in there but the dog/car/rabbit must have stepped in it..or insert lie here... as for food sitting out over night not good no but dry food does not spoil over night. There are so many excuses that can be used to brush off why a dog/cat/rabbit/bird is dirty, sick, unfed, has dirty water, etc that it is hard to regulate this sort of thing.

Also you must look at an animals feeding and drinking needs. Take for instance Dogs.. my dogs get fed 1- 2 times a day and no more than that... reason for this is calorie intake and activity level. now if they do not eat their first meal of the day i either leave it there for them to pick at all day or I pick it up and add more to it on their 2nd meal. my dogs are not starving and are in great health.  A dog's natural habit is to eat once a day.

Now for cats, My cat gets 2 cups of food a day, but because cats are prone to sugar declines his food is given to him at night and he eats it on a 24 hr schedule... Again he is very healthy and is not starving.

I know there has been times that I have gone into PU and there has been animals without food .. I do not work there nor have I ever Nor will I ever. But we have no idea what their feeding schedules are.

There are so many variables and no one  has taken the time to outline what regulations should be imposed for what species. it isn't just dogs and cats.. rabbits are being explotied as easter gifts and birds are being sold as novelty pets... hamsters are cannablistic (and parents/buyers are not being warned of this) etc.

I feel this is why such a blind eye has been turned on this corporation because no one wants to take the time to set up guidelines and it also costs money that the government does not want to shell out "Just for a bunch of animals"....

Is there a protest scheduled for today? Please let us know! I have to say that  I know a lot of information about this company as I have friends who work/worked at PU. They are all aware of the poor treatment these animals get. Like the other week they had a rabbit they claimed to be 6 weeks old. It was no more then 2 weeks, It was being bottle fed by staff. They "forgot" to feed it the other night and it died yesterday morning. That is a shame. Out of that same litter, another rabbit also too young died. They lie to the customers and say the rabbits are 6 weeks when they are clearly not since they are smaller then your palm of your hand! Then they wont fess up to where the rabbits went. I know that they died as I have some insider info so to speak. I went in today and asked how the rabbit was doing and they said theywere sold. LIES LIES LIES!!! Hey with an election coming up maybe we can get some help there if we bring this to the governments attention.
