    Re: Boycott PETS UNLIMITED!!!

Oh, Poop on a Stick!! I forgot all about the protest. Somebody please say it was changed from today to next week. I just cut 2 cords of wood on the couch. They probably heard me all the way down at Five Points bar.
Remember yesterday, respect tomorrow, live for today.

The problem with North America is stupidity. I'm not saying there should be a capital punishment for stupidity, but why don't we just take the safety labels off of everything and let the problem solve itself?

Our dog came from the SPCA.  She did have kennel cough and a variety of other ailments that allowed us to get to know the vet quite well.  Once we got her straightened out she has been fine.  The vet was very gracious with her billing and since we only paid  $125 (to cover costs of spaying and board) it was not a financial crisis.

I have never understood why people would spend hundreds and hundreds of dollars on a dog when there are so many looking for good homes for next to nothing.

    Re: Boycott PETS UNLIMITED!!!

I have never heard anything bad about pets unlimited....my mother and aunt both purchased their cocker spaniels there...beautiful dogs...very smart and loving.  I am pretty good at breed I hav never scene one listed as a purebreed that wasn't.  They don't usually have purebreeds anyways...well not lately.  They have a lot of the "designer" hybred dogs.  Could it be an error and purchased on of them?  They cost 1000...cause I am shocked when ever I see that....they give it a fancy name..for two breds mating...and then jack up the price.  Cracks me up. Personally I don't believe that pet stores are of any use....why charge a person to open a loving home to a living creature that needs and wants it?  Breeding is one thing....breeding a good line in a good home.....but mass production is horrible.  I am far from perfect and have bought from pet stores my pekingnese (actually my pek was from there she did have kennel cough...but that is common doesn't matter where you puchase a pet ...I paid close to 100 dollars to make her better)....and my last rabbit was from their.

BUT THE ELMWOOD...OH GOD THE HORROR STORIES.  My mother purchased a husky from there...purebreed...but really small...when she brought it home I said that is not right.  There is somethign wrong with her.  When she took her into the vet she was so malnourished that the vet said she is blind and deaf and may never improve.  The vet believed it was purchased from a puppy mill. He had no hope that she would even make it.  My mother was crushed. The guy from Elmwood...just said not my problem...offered to replace it.  My mother was livid...and just cut her losses...she figured she has the dog..can't return it for a new one...that is just wrong.  So she did and gave everything the vet told her too.  The dog did regain partial site and could hear.  On the good side she lived 12 years.  She passed on this year.

OH and the stories from the dog park I have heard from there...HORRIBLE....Elmwood was evil I just thank everyday that it closed...and the SPCA never closed and never stopped him even with all the complaints.  It really saddens me that abuse like this goes on.  Puppy mills are the most disgusting things I have seen or read about...it really breaks my heart.

When they first opened yes they got all their animals from the SPCA...not sure why but they stopped doing that...not enough profit I guess.

I Was visiting Moncton for the first time last month , when i went into the mountain road pets unlimited. My heart broke when i  noticed 2 fully grown dogs in one display case. These poor dogs had been there since June and were filthy . When I went over to the case to see them one dog had his face against the glass and he looked lost , almost broken. These dogs are too big to be held like this , and at thier age, should be able to run free. I reported it to the SPCA , but they did nothing. My sister in law. who lives there, tells me that 1 of them now has sores on its belly. If you live in the area please check on these dogs , and report them to the SPCA. Perhaps with enough calls they will help them.

I agree with you 100% and to the post below yours, I don't believe that reporting this to the right people is being a rat. These animals cannot speak for themself, so we need to take a stand for them, and it sure aint gonna be the 15 year olds that work there.

I just saw a golden retriever puppy with no food, water, and laying on a pile of urine and feces soaked shredded paper, and 3 Goldendoodle pupies covered in feces and EATING it, as there was no food or water supplied. I mentioned it to the 15 year old that was there, and all she had to say is we'll check it out. If they are not there to check it out ever hour, what the hell are they doing there.

The state of the dogs there are deplorable, and I hate to say that I have to shop there from time to time, as they are really the only pet store in moncton.

I actually purchased my dog there a year ago, and although I hated to fork over the cash to these people, I was so glad to save my dog from the conditions in those glass cages.

I am writing a formal letter to the head office of pets unlimited petsunlimited@pets-unlimited.ca and I encourage anyone else who feels the same way I do to do the same, as these people leave it up to the minimum wage teenagers to take care of these living, breathing animals, and they just are not.
