    Editing a quote

    Has something just changed?

Normally in quoting a post, it may be I only want to respond to one point, so I'll delete the non relevant points. There's no point in reproducing the whole thing again especially when it may also have reproduced a quote from another poster that also has no relevance.

I just did it as usual but I kept getting a message about non matching quotes.

Do we now have to reproduce an entire quote or none of it at all?

I had that problem one day. It turned out I was putting my response between the other person's quotation marks.

The problem with North America is stupidity. I'm not saying there should be a capital punishment for stupidity, but why don't we just take the safety labels off of everything and let the problem solve itself?

I've often done that too without a problem. It's a useful way of replying point by point for the sake of clarity rather than trying to deal with it all in one go.

Willie...I'm just going to try splitting your post in two.

So I'd make a comment here.

    Now I'm completely lost.

That's my conclusion too. It just seemed odd that when it happened I made adjustments and that didn't work either. Then I went back and did the whole thing again and still it failed.

But you know how you write something and reread it several times and only later do you see the mistake. You know what you wanted to say and that's what you 'see' even though it was wrong. It shows we're not all perfect - except me.Stick out tongue [:P]

Anyway, if it works this time, then it was my fault. Or someone else's.laughing [laughing]
