    Re: rate my neighbourhood

I like where I live, downtownish, Mountain Rd, and Botsford area. The area is, I guess you would say, full of rental units, be they apartments, or divided older houses. A mix of residential, and commercial, your specific criteria is not applicable. I am happy to be left alone to do what I like, when I like, which suits me just fine (and EXACTLY what I had in mind when I bought this house).

    Re: rate my neighbourhood

I live near Moncton hospital and St Henri school.. It's clean but isn't everywhere?

It's manily detached houses with some apartment buildings dotted around. I must admit, I find it hard to think "family friendliness/community spirit" given virtially everybody drives virtually everywhere.

If everyone (nearly) leaves their homes and gets into a car then they aren't seeing their neighbours. I walk and cycle (not being a driver) and it's rare to pass another pedestrian. But when I do, there's at least a friendly hello or comment about the weather.

    Re: rate my neighbourhood

I live near the Victoria Park area. We have a diversified neighbourhood with everything from a strip bar, many churches, restruants, an ex massage parlour, a few working girls keeping our sidewalks freindly, coffee shops, parks, a great hospital, and a few convenience stores. To top it off I have great neighbours. If that isn't good enough I live within a ten minute walk to at least four other Moncton Netters that I know of.

    Re: rate my neighbourhood

    Hi,

i was wondering why houses in Dieppe are cheaper and the taxes generally lower.does the lower prices indicate that it is not as good as north moncton?

    Re: rate my neighbourhood

As long as I can remember, both Dieppe and Riverview have always had lower tax rates than Moncton. They also have less services, less sidewalks, etc.

As to the houses being cheaper, well that would depend on which part of Dieppe you are looking at.They are sprouting new housing subdivisions left and right with some very expensive looking houses in them. Dieppe is growing leeps and bounds.

I think one of the reasons Dieppe has lower taxes is because it has so many old men wearing hats driving there. As anybody probably alweady knows an old man wearing a hat is one of the worst menaces on the road. The taxes are lower so more people can afford extra life insurance.

    hi,

why do people like north    moncton?

    Re: rate my neighbourhood

I'm not sure houses are cheaper in Dieppe. Before we moved here from Quebec we did months of research on MLS, making up lists and contacting realtors, taking advice about locality and state of property. We had a price range in mind.

Our MLS searches were concentrated on Central Moncton, and those parts of East, West and North Moncton, Riverview and Dieppe that appeared not far from Central.

Before visiting to view some homes we had our 'short list' of 14 possibilities. None were in Dieppe. I think there was 1 in East and 2 in Riverview. The rest were in Central Moncton.
