    Mattresses. Where?

I've seen the flyers from Surplusfreight showing mattresses for sale. They quote doubles for $120 and up among their prices. They also quote box springs for the same price.

What's less clear is the small print saying they only sell those in sets. I discovered this when I called in expecting to be able to buy one for $120 or a bit more if there was a significant difference in quality.

What they will do is sell the set for $240 and 'generously' reduce that by 10% if you just want the mattress.

So the $120 mattress will be yours for $216.

Needless to say, I didn't buy one. I could understand something like each part for $150 and $240 for a set - and even that sounds a bit much to buy separately - but $216 for one piece and $240 for two?

So...does anyone know where one can buy mattresses, on their own, for a reasonable price?

Now I know why I love sleeping on my couch so much.

Try the Salvation Army Store on Mountain Rd. They sell new ones there. Plus, gawd forbid, Wal-Mart.

    Re: Mattresses. Where?

I can remember looking at mattresses in the Sally store nearly three years ago, just out of curiosity. I remember being shocked at how much they were, considering they weren't exactly what you'd call top quality.

Maybe I'll take another look. Daft question: Do they deliver? Does Walmart deliver?

Not a daft question at all.

Wal-Mart does not deliver, not sure about the Sally Ann

Not easy to get a mattress on a bike...at least there's a soft landing though.

A little birdie told me the guy who runs the flea market is supposed to be getting some new ones in soon. He is pretty good to deal with.

Try D&M Auction Center, Millenium BLVD. I believe they will deliver as well. They sometimes have new ones.
