    Russian pechka, oven-bed

    Last night we accidentally opened a window and forgot to close it before going to sleep, so we woke up freezing. As we were yakking about the cold, i told my wife Russian peasants used ovens called PECHKA as beds. She has never heard of that, and i promised to show her the pictures. So i dug out these pics on the net, and decided to share it with yo folks:

    wow that is a great idea...I wish I had one of those on all those cold and frosty mornings.

    Hello, I am Mikhail, and my grandma (Baba) actually slept on these as a child in the Old country. I am being certified as a stove (pechka) mason. Questions,  write back, Mikhail
