    I Live In New Brunswick

I live in New Brunswick. I do not live in Nouveau Brunswick like some tourists seem to think. New Brunswick is the proper name of the province I call my home. Even though New Brunswick is Canada's only official bilingual province it is still called New Brunswick not Nouveau Brunswick. Luckily Hogan's Heros wasn't shot in New Brunswick or Peter Newkirk might have been called Pierre New-Nouveaukirk. If I visit Quebec I will visit Trois Rivieres not Three Rivers. Oops, I have to take off. I'm off to Halifax, New Scotland for a couple of days.

Re: I Live In New Brunswick

It's really not that big of a deal but our semi illiterate provincial government insists on calling it New Nouveau Brunswick in an attempt to appear bilingual. A proper name is a name. Moncton was named after Col. Monckton but it was and is called Moncton not Monckton. You just don't translate names.

hmm, you do actually. Much like "Espagne, mexique, allemagne". Countries have different names in different languages, why not provinces?

Re: I Live In New Brunswick

See bilingual is French OR English. Not both. You should not be forced to know both, I am not French, so do not “ merci” me because I know you can speak English, because ei am forced to learn French and I know your forced to learn English.

you aren't forced to know it. Just, in New Brunswick and especially Moncton you'll function much better by knowing at least a little bit.

Re: I Live In New Brunswick

No I am forced to know it. School makes it mandatory and when I apply for jobs, I loose out because I do not speak French that well. I am sorry but English is the world language so, excuse me for not speaking French. They can go to Quebec and speak itAngry [:@]

Re: I Live In New Brunswick

I would love to learn English or French. When I go to a hospital it's the Geoge Dumont. I Like reading the French signs from way back. Now, most of the signs are bilingual, which is ok but takes away the fun of trying to read them when in a hospital bed.
