PROTEST PETS UNLIMITED!!! JOIN IN AND MAKE YOUR VOICE HEARD!
How many people go into a local Pets Unlimited store and see the cute puppies and kittens? They are so cute! But the price is not. Did you know that you DONT get papers with them?! And half of them are NOT pure bred in the least. So how then is it lawful for them to charge 1200 dollars and more for dogs that they claim to be "full bred". I am a customer who used to shop there frequently until I noticed these conditions. I have heard of several people mainly my friends and family who have known individuals who have had problems with the dogs that they purchased. I know one of my friends who purchased a dog, and the vet told him it was not pure bred in the least! Not even close! . They feed you a load of croc. I happen to know that most of the dogs that they purchase come from the same breeder, via the moncton kennel club hence I beleive them to be from puppy mills as the dogs are almost ALWAYS sick. How many times have you seen that in the news eh?! The living conditions are unbelievable! The kennels are not cleaned until nearly noon somedays! Imagine yourself being cramped in a 4X3 kennel all day and all night and having to live eat and drink amongst your own feces and wastes. NOT very humane is it? I am not against selling animals if the conditions are adequate. The store on Mountain Road is no better, not to mention the manager there is quite rude to say the least and doesnt think twice about telling you an animal is NOT sick when he knows very well that it is. I have learned that from people who have shared stories about pruchasing cats that were obviously ill but being told they were not.
I have heard that the stores in Nova Scotia are not as bad, still I bet the dogs come from puppy mills. I mean have you ever asked them where they get their dogs? I have, all they tell you is "somwhere in the Fredericton area". One would think that if they truly purchased them from a reputable and government regulated breeder that they would have a more definitive answer then that!
Something NEEDS to be done. If you go in to the stores and see the HORRIBLE conditions of the kennels, DO NOT hesitate to call the SPCA of Moncton.

Re: Boycott PETS UNLIMITED!!!
I bought my first dog murray from a breeding farm, he was a mut, good price, good healthy dog BUT my second i bought from the old elmwood petmart. My mom only boght Misty because she was sick. She was throwing up, and she had the runs..she was so damn sick and sittting in her cage. My mom couldnt stand it. They tried to sell her full price to my mom. 500 bucks for a dog that looks thought it might die..my mom said 150 or nothing so they took it..she is the greatest dog i haveever seen. Gentle and caring and innocent. Watch out. Dogs from pets unlimited have been known for cases of keddle cough!

"BOYCOTT PETS UNLIMITED! Don't let these POOR animals suffer anymore! Dont shop there!"
If nobody shops there how will the animals ever get out? They will be stuck there til they die. Get 100 friends to chip in and buy the place then fire the managers.

Re: Boycott PETS UNLIMITED!!!
I have to agree about Pets Unlimited. Although I have never baught anything from them (and never will) the prices are insane!! and the poor animals are cramped in little cages with 2, 3, or more animals.
I was in the Mountain Road location the other week looking at the kittens (my cat recently died so I was thinking of getting another one), they had 8 kittens in one little cage, all if them had eye irratations and one kitten was very sick, had blood in its stool, we told the employess about it, they did not seem concerned at all. They said something about it being on medication or something.
They also had a huge pot-belly pig in a small cage that did not look to happy. One of the customers commented that it was way to small a cage for a large pig.
Poor animals, makes me sad. ![Sad [:(]](/emoticons/emotion-6.gif)

Re: Boycott PETS UNLIMITED!!!
If you do Boycott Pets Unlimited, I know that the dogs there will not be bought any time soon.. But let me tell you.. Is it better to let the dogs be in the cages for 6 months of their lives or more.. My female dog was bopught from pets unlimited and for 1 week she was scared of even the sound the dishwater made because she was in that smale cage for 2 months... now imagine 4-6 months...and still beign sold the same price.. where no one will buy her.. If you do buy the Dogs, The store will make more profit and motivate puppy mills to keep on breeding, which produces more sick puppies... These dogs have suffered, as a former employee I know.. they pushed and rushed the poor little innocent 6weeks old (too young to be away from their mommies) into their cages, where they spent 2-6 months buried in their feces, excrement, and no water for a long time and no exercice. nothing.. No love...Dogs without love? Cmon! There isnt only the dogs. But all the other animals.. The fish... They do many so called <<Dead Runs>> every day .. and every time they find many fishes dying and floating at the top of the tank.. I heard this from another ex employee, where a whole tank of guppies where sick for a month, when they were finally almost cured, the manager decided to throw Javex in there so that the fish would all die... As she felt obligaded she did with regret and all the fish rolled up to the surface of the tank. Rats were lost in the store for a while, where they peeid and made holes in the dog food bags.. the dogs would get sick over the food because of rat pee. Did you know that 1 inch of fish per gallon is what they preach? They have more then 30 fish in 1 30 gallon tank) they are thrown in there as well.. The cats have blood in there feces... the birds do not get attention so therefore practically becaome wild again... The bird cages do NOT get cleaned for 3-4 months at a time, maybe less... The hamsters are left 1-12 in one Tiny cage, when they should be in a cage left Alone because they kill after they are 1-2 months old... Search it on the Net then go check it out at the store.. The rqabbits are fit 5-7 in one tiny cage, leaving no space to hop.. That Pot Belly pig, HUGE, was left in a Tiny cage where she could only lay down in one space or pee in her dirty litter or drink from her bowl. They said she was friendly, but she almost bit me.. What a sad pig... The owners tell the employees to lie so they can sell faster.. They buy the dogs from (probably) Puppy mills (Mine was from fredericton) for about 200-400$ depending which breed.. Most of which have the same breeder (for different breeds) and then they sell them at 1200-1500$ or more (french bulldog 3000$!) It is Insane! The animals food is placed all stuck together, for a while without even tags to identify so that the newer employees could put them to the right animals... The medication is very close to the food, which could be very harmful.. The animals can be so sick that they wont even call a vet.. A dog once was so sick we broght him to the vet and got yelled at because we had waisted money and we should of used syrup or somthing like that.. I was once yelled at for cleaning an animal cage instead of the floor.. 2 Dogs I have heard of died on spot... So manye examples I could use... But too many to tell..
Pets Unlimited- Because The love for your pet is Unlimited... BS!!!
Show them what They deserve... Boycott!

Re: Boycott PETS UNLIMITED!!!
Thank you for the support so far! Lets get this company shut down. Think of the animals! The mom and pop shops are great! It's these money hungry corporations that make it so bad. Pets Unlimited, prepare to lose some valued customers. Wait, not valued, have you ever noticed how RUDE the staff is?! Come on people of Moncton, Dieppe, and Riverview. Lets make a stand against this company. Think of the animals in kennels right now. They dont get out, you get in trouble for taking them out, and they sell them at crazy prices so that a guy in a big office in Toronto can make money off these POOR innocent animals ripped from their mothers at a WAYYYYYY too young age. Help me in my fight against this company! Keep posting support.
Thank YOU All!

Re: Boycott PETS UNLIMITED!!!
I need to sat something else... I was thinking about how it was when I first started..
I rememeber the first 2-3 days I started working with PU... I had to clean the dog kennels..
Every morning the smell in the dog kennels were so bad that it would smell almost intoxicating...
It smelt so intxicating that I actually needed to go rbeathe outside and then eventually puked twice in the bathroom...
Now imagine how the dogs feel being locked up in there for 2-6 months...
Talk about bad ventilation; maybe poisening...
Help these guys.. Please Boycott or just do Somthing. dont ignore it.. Its wrong... do whats right... They are helpless, they thrive for us, they depend on us because they do not have the voice to do so...

Re: Boycott PETS UNLIMITED!!!
I remember when I was once cleaning a kennel with the dogs still in it.. there was a 6 months old spitz
he was ungroomed his nails werent clipped
when I was cleaning I was so frustrated cuzI coudldnt leave him on the floor nor did I want to shove him in a cage again and back in the other...
the spitz would jump on me and crave my attention so bad that he would whine and cry and shove his toenails in my back and face
i rememver that
he was scared of me like every other ppl because we didnt give him a chance do get used to his surrounding but then again he wanted my attention and craved love..
after i didnt even finish the kennel and I went ou to a coworker and freaked a bit and he told me to relax
so i went back in and cried
it was soo sad
.... These are things I keep remembering.. so dont be surprised to get a new post now and then with more sexpereiences

Re: Boycott PETS UNLIMITED!!!
Fortunently i am an ex Pets Unlimited employee. This post could go on for ever with numerous sick and inhumane examples of things that happened to the animals in the period of time that i worked there, but i will keep it to the ones that shocked me the most. As many customers probably have noticed already Pets Unlimited is great for always having new staff. The smart employees usually don't stay very long. The ones that do stay on are usually high school kids that are way , way underqualified to give the public advice on their pets. Some customers asks questions only a qualified Vet or Technician could answer, yet advices and "solutions to the problem" are still giving out by 15-16 years old kids. Scarryyyy!!!! Sometimes a pets life, well being depends on these individuals. Then you have the staff that stay on because they think they can make a difference. These perticular employees are very well educated and for a fact no more then some district managers from some pets unlimited on mountain road. Unfortunently sick animals are left untreated and to later die. One manager that worked at the dieppe location was an exception but he later quit his job due to bad management above this perticular individual. Unfortunently dogs ARE from PUPPY MILLS somewhere up in nova-scotia and MOST cats are BARN CATS people bring in. It makes me feel sick when people rather come to Pets Unlimited to get an animal rather then saving a life at the spca. Animals at the spca get put down every day due to care less people going to pet shops buying animals without thinking about it and being fed lies by teenagers at Pets Unlimited. The Staff are told to lie and basicly say anything to get dogs sold, even about serious health issues. dogs that come out of these stores afetr being in kennels for this amount of time will almost certenely develop behavior problems and will be a hell of a job to train. Most ppl that come to PU are not prepared to do that and do not understand what dog training is appart from rubbing the animals face in their feces.Whcih is very extremely wrong. But that is what the staff tell people.Puppies have different stages thy have to go through to assure more or less normal behavioral development. For example socializing the dog, the dog interacting with ppl/kids, dog getting slowly use to noises ect . None of this can be acomplished in a ridiculously small kennel. Medications are also giving out to dogs without even being checked by a vet and alot of the times some dogs receive meds they do not need.Reptiles are a disgrace the fish room looks sick and it looks like they are triyng to grow algea as it covers the tanks and is growing over dead fish. As a final word if you trully love animals do plenty of research on a dog breed you want get it froma breeder where you can see the dogs parents have papers for your dog. it will probably cost less and vet bills will be lower as the overall animals health is better by far or simply open up your heart and visit your local spca and try to walk away from an animal in need of a home! I couldnt!!!! So that is where my cat and dog are from!!!Best pets ive ever had!
Be smart and dont get sucked into a pack of lies in the end all they are after is your money, nothing else!

Re: Boycott PETS UNLIMITED!!!
Instead of boycoting why not just do a protest for these poor animals. Then passer bys would see hwat's going on, the media would get involved etc. By boycoting, only the people that are in communications with ex employees or those whose read things like this will know baout but no one else. If a protest was done it will be in teh papers, in the news... word would spread like fire in a feild of hay.
Be careful what you write cause you can say boo and they will jump down your throat.

Re: Boycott PETS UNLIMITED!!!
I would hope so. But a protest would really stir things up. and make people notice. But it's all good. I am more than willing to start the protest on a weekend. (as I work business hours during the week days). I would really love to help these animals cause they don't deserve the treatment they are getting.
