Canadian Tire Money

I had the crazy idea of accepting Canadian Tire money as partial payment for my products. As far as I know Canadian Tire is non taxable and wouldn't count as income yet I still could spend it for things I need if I go to Canadian Tire. This idea sounds too good to possibly work. Does anybody know anything about this kind of stuff?

Well willie, If you shop at canadian tire, It would be a thought. As for using it for payment for your products what ever your product costs, That person could give you a few cents to take it off the price. But if your product costs $20 and someone comes in with $ 20 in canadian tire money, You would have to pay for the product your self, Meaning that your cost to ship the product to your place. So if you dont go to canadian tire much, That person just got a free product.

I suppose I would get in trouble if I put in any to a bank machine to pay my credit card with. It did sound like a good way to make tax free money. Maybe I'll start taking C.T. money up to 5% of the purchase.

As an experiment I will accept Canadian Tire money at par at my tables at the market. Bring it all in. I want to be Moncton's first Canadian Tire millionaire.

The video store I used to work with (Video Tech) used to accept Canadian Tire as well. People would come in a little embarassed asking "Is it true you accept Canadian Tire money or is someone pulling my leg?" Not sure if they still do but we used it for buying store supplies.
There's also an article here about a liquor store that does the same: http://www.lilith-ezine.com/articles/canada/2006/Canadian-Tire-Money.html

I plan to up my cashflow by 10 to 20% by accepting Canadian Tire money. If I ever start making a profit Canadian Tire money is tax free.
(so far)

Money is money. I don't think they will tax you too heavily on that crappy money.
