    A poem about my father

    Dad, I need a hug,
I long to hear your voice.
    Dad, my heart weeps still,
I can’t get past the pain.

I miss your warmth, I miss your sarcasm,
    I miss your birthday wishes.
    You made every birthday special
Like one day a year I felt I mattered.

    You offered such acceptance,
    I wasn’t blood related,
you chose to love me anyways,
You were my rock the reason I’ve survived.

I’m sorry I drifted away when you were ill,
I’m sorry the nursing home made me wary,
I only hoped you would go home,
and things would be the same.

I am happy you chose to be my dad,
    I was truly blessed;
    To be born alone,
but finding a dad at 4.

Dad hold me now, I don’t want to be alone...

"No one loves you unconditionally as your beloved pet." ~~I have nothing but sympathy for those that can't relate.
