    Wisdom teeth hell!

I've got wisdom teeth problems, and I know I have to bite the bullet (without the wisdom teeth though) sooner or later and get my chicken a$$ to the dentist and get it taken care of once and for all.

I've heard a lot of stories about people getting theirs taken out.  Most of which are nightmarish.  Really makes me wanna go!

    What are your stories?

    Re: Wisdom teeth hell!

I knew one person who had it done in hospital as they were impacted. No problem.

Someone else...her face ballooned up...but she was out and about soon after, in no pain, just with a lump the size of a grapefruit inside her cheek. Okay....a tangerine.

I also knew a bloke who had it done one morning and he was back at work in the afternoon. Bloody fool...he should have made a day out of it at least!!

    Re: Wisdom teeth hell!

I was as scared you you, Cloudhopper and when I went to the Oral Sureon (not dentist) he wanted to put me out but I opted to stay awake against their advice.

He froze my mouth and pulled my two top ones; what a sound! ewwwwwwwww!

Well, it was done in about 10-15 minutes.

I went home, took less than half of a tylenol 3 if I recall correctly, slept for a while and when I woke up I had basically no pain.

I hear the results are not as good with dentists; so try the Oral Surgeon; they have better training!

I know the next time I go I on;t be as uptight; the horror stories I heard only scared me; the reality ofit was that there was virtually no pain and after that one tylenol 3 (not even a full one) I didn't use even one more pain killer!

Go to an Oral Surgeon and it'll go much better I'm sure!

    Thanks for the stories, guys!

Yeah, I guess I'll be referred to an oral surgeon by the name of Dr. Pelkey, if I got that right.  So you're right about that one Dan.... but my dentist just retired anyway.

I'll pass on those tangerines tho!

Hmmmm, Must have been awfully quiet in the room.Wink [;)]

Why are they called WISDOM teeth? They make a person's gums SMART when they come out.

There is an old saying for when a dentist tell's a person they won't feal a thing. "Let me hold your testicles while you work on my teeth".

I went to him. I really don't want to scare you as I was terrified but had to get them out.

Once done, it was fine, until it unfroze. Man I had never felt so much pain in my life and my face swelled up like 3 times it's size. I couldn't eat for 2 weeks. And lost almost 15 lbs (which I am only 102 lbs)

Just to let you know of my story. Sorry.

Just waiting till it's all over.

Don't worry about the pain? It will only hurt for the first 3 months then you will slowly get used to it.out [out]
