As I hold my cigarette to my mouth, I remember the times we shared
The warm touches, tight embraces, and the reassurance of you being there
Nights of trust, and words of love, binded our summer together
But what of the world after the sun cools to welcome winter
Will the warmness of our love freeze like the water in the spring?
Where you first kissed me, back in the very beginning
Will a white blanket smother our memories, leaving turmoil?
Like the soft snow suffocates the once-warmed soil?
Can I keep this summer love? Or will you walk away
Like the rest did, without anything left to say
But “ goodbye, it was fun” and move on with their lives
It in is the cold, sullen winter that my greatest fears lie.
